  1. thanks steve. it will be a long ride. likewise dave. it was very nice meeting you. we'll have to do it again.....soon.
  2. i found a chart on this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fastest_production_cars_by_acceleration if you go to the second chart it will show you their 1/4 miles e.t.'s. the bugatti was #1 @ 9.70. i went back over my racepak data from the car i ran in 2000 and i can tell you it went 1.05 @ 60 feet @ around 59.4 mph. that was a 7.15 pass @188 and some change. so you can compare 0-60 times. it would be safe to say a typical low 7 second drag car goes 0-60 mph in about 1.1 seconds. significantly faster for the sub 6 second cars. it's a shame the nit pickers can't seem to find this info. instead of nit picking the wrong titles.
  3. hey mike, looked up your buddies nova. awesome piece. definately a LARGE wolf in sheeps clothing.
  4. again, i'll try to clear the air on this misconception. the fastest street car in america is a contest put on by hot rod. it is their title, their contest, their rules. it is held on a drag strip. the title that the bugatti veyron and the koenigsegg agera r hold is IS NOT the fastest street car in america but, the world's fastest production car. it is a different thing all together. i don't know what the criteria are for this title. maybe one of you guys (pete or jonathan) would start another topic on it.
  5. bill, thanks!! appreciate you looking in. chris, we'll have to work on a miniature tubing notcher!!! it will come in handy for some of your future projects! ray, i have the same affliction at times. me and the captain can usually sort it out. just for you scott.
  6. hey mike. got any pics of your buddies car? would be cool to see his ride. i'm a little familiar with the ride quality of these types of cars. i have to agree, you'd feel pretty beat up after riding in one for a week. hey joe, was just kiddin' about the veyron's ability to float. then again for the price matybe it should. LOL! i think i read the curb weight was around 4100 lbs. could be wrong.
  7. wow! thanks joe. 7.15..........i think that's plenty "o" fast for me, thanks!! i found some shots of larsons car when it was pink.........it looks sooooo much better now.
  8. been going through some of the pics available. while this isn't the fastest or the quickest. it is the one i like the most. i also found out that while the veyron may be fast.......they also float! LOL!
  9. WOW!...........i'm sure glad this is a model and doesn't actually have to run.
  10. thanks mike. always happy to help when i can. thanks, tyrone. "looks just like the real thing"............. probably the best compliment that can be given. thank you.
  11. i agree with you there paul. just to compete in drag week would be cool. i think my goal would be to try and complete the 5 days.
  12. definately would be pretty cool to see some of these cars built in scale. it will be extremely interesting to see what creations arrive in the following years. we'll see if new rules get put in place and how far and fast will they be able to push the boundaries. incredible cars to say the least.
  13. to do the job "correctly". each piece of tubing must be properly filed and fitted before soldering. simply laying a piece of tubing on top of another piece of tubing won't do.
  14. thanks for the nice thoughts, guys. i'm glad to be getting to this part too. i means i can stop making all those little parts for a while!! hehe. scott, i use standard mostly 3/16, 5/32, and 1/8 brass tubing for the chassis. when it come to the all of the mounts (i.e. body, dash, chutes, battery etc.) i 'll use smaller stuff.
  15. hey leonard, thanks a bunch man!!! been a while. how you doin'? got started on the chassis finally.
  16. chuck, i'm pretty sure that's how any contest is. athletics, cars, motorcycles. someone will always find a way to be faster.
  17. sorry, i didn't see the last post you made pete. i now see why you are completely confused here. this is not a race. it isn't about team support ( did you know that outside support is forbidden by the rules?). this is all about the car. all of the guys you mentioned couldn't have won jack with out there large team behind them. larson won the title 4 or 5 times. no outside help. no support vehicle , no trailer. you should really check out how difficult this event is before you start making completely irrelavent statements. i don't mean that to be a smart "a". i would never jump into a conversation about any kind of contest of which i have no knowledge of the rules. you'll only end up bringing a dragster to a road race.
  18. it's not my track. they're not my rules, pete. they're hot rod's. there will always be someone "wanna be" crying about the rules. if you wanna play in their arena. you play by their rules, pete. you certainly can go start your own race. with your own rules. any where you like.........let me know how you make out with that.
  19. thanks scott and ray. the gold material is brass. i machined the brackets from 1/8 brass flat bar. they are brass because they will be soldered directly to the chassis.
  20. actually pete is dead wrong. it's hot rod's contest. it's hot rod's title to give out. it's hot rod's rules. it's run on the tracks of their choice. take your veyron to to any of the tracks where they are contesting for this title and see how you fair out. and that 267 you're so proud of, the unbridaled brethern of these cars are going 260 plus in the quarter mile. so as far as the plastic body leaving the camaro..........not going to happen.
  21. thanks, bill. here is the rest of the chassis 4 link system. the side plates can be rotated, flipped put in different holes to achive an almost infinite range of instant centers.
  22. scott, just incredible!! if you make this available to the public, all i can say is "what a lucky bunch of model builders". this is just awesome!!!
  23. i think more people would be wearing large hats.
  24. mike, dirk, and scott, many thanks guys!!! i appreciate the kind words. i try to give up-to-date, accurate and real (not imagined or pretend) info. there is just way too much bogus info. out there.
  25. actually, if you can go to "precision chassis'" facebook page. then go to there album page you'll find the whole build. start to present. there are also quite a few other good reference builds on there. edit: here's the link......... i hope. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Precision-Chassis-Inc/160338450719439
