  1. for you guys theat love 275 drag radial cars. here's one that my buddies at precision are building. there are a lot of good chassis shots in the article. http://www.lsxtv.com/news/steve-beastons-x275-camaro-update-from-precision-chassis/
  2. gotta agree with tyrone. very cool!
  3. what an incredible transformation this car has under gone, jeff. fantastic job!
  4. WOW,.........i wish i'd have known you had posted this earlier, dirk. KILLER stuff, buddy!!!
  5. finally got started on the rear 4 link. the car has a jerry bickel adjustable 4 link so i made up the main arm. i'll get started on the brakets next. it won't be a functional system so no slots. the holes i did pic are the correct positions in the car.
  6. wow, love the details. keep up the awesome work!
  7. great workmanship, andy. awesome detailing.
  8. depends on the manufacturer but, usually between 16" and 16.25" o.d. that would be 2" - 2.031" in 1/8.
  9. you make it look so easy tyrone! the sign of true talent.
  10. great start to another impressive build, i'm sure. love the subject matter.
  11. thanks joe. it's a ton of extra work to make them that way. i think it will make for a better end product.
  12. excellent catch, scott. those pesky "little" things can really make the difference.
  13. geez, dale. with all of your knowledge and exprience in pro stock, maybe, you should build and market a "correct" modern pro stock chassis. i think it would a monumental success.
  14. i'm sure dale is aware of it but, for those of you who aren't. that is not a pro stock car in dale's pic. as a pro stock reference it would be incorrect
  15. good to hear you're up to the challenge ray. keep up the good work!
  16. thanks ken. i do understand. these scratch 1/8 cars (like your sprinters) really take an enormous amount of time and dedication. this is my 8 build i've started. 3 are as yet to be completed. this may be the last one for awhile.
  17. scott, i'm totally blown away with how this is turning out. sometimes just seeing how well you can do something, is all you need.
  18. thank you fellas. i appreciate it. i use the rotary table to turn the piece while cutting and grinding on the bridgeport. i made a mandrel to support the work piece, on center, as i cut or grind. the neoprene i get is a 75a durometer so it is rather hard. i have done about 7 or 8 sets of slicks now. so i have a pretty decent machining routine established. each set requires a $50 chunk of rubber to start and it makes 2 large slicks. i will say this,.......prepare to get really dirty. when you grind this stuff the black dust you make gets everywhere. i buy a 5" round to start and reduce it to a 4.312 dia. so, you will be making alot of rubber dust.
  19. definately an incredible challenge you've taken on scott. you certainly have done a premier job at turning an ordinary mustang body into a pro stock. keep up the top shelf work!!!!
  20. HEHEHEHEHE. THAT............ was funny dave!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. thanks chris. seriously, glad you like it! so, i spent most of the weekend getting black rubber dust all over the place. for those who don't build in 1/8 there are no accurate tires available for a pro mod build (actually, almost any build). so, i end up making them myself. i start with a 5" round of neoprene and machine and grind them down to the correct size. for this car that's a 34.5x 17x16 hoosier. here's the 5" round ruff cut from a length. after about 8 hrs of cutting and measuring here is the semi finished product. i say semi finished because i still nedd to add the wear indicators and the hoosier logos. here it is with the wheel and beadlock.
  22. here are a few with a more "minimalist' theme.
  23. seriously sweet jeff. love the look. great craftsmanship.
  24. many thanks guys!!! i hope to get back to it this weekend.
  25. i can only give you the goodyear sites info. i never ran the goodyear 2200 tire so i don't know it's characteristics. tire o.d.- 33.8 circumference- 105 section width- 20.5 tread width_17.4 i can tell you they will get bigger in o.d. and width after 3-4 good burnouts. how much really depends on a lot of factors.
