  1. the front end repair is top shelf chris. looks like you have the headers under way, too. can't wait to see the results!!
  2. richard, thanks so much!!!! and better than T.V......no commercials!! hehe. well, i'm still not done the headers yet but, here's a teaser. still have a bunch of detail work to do.
  3. joe, they are 3-d, so to speak. they have thickness. my understanding is they actually print a resin "eyebrow" so to speak onto a waterslide backing. they also make rivets, arc welds, louvers, all kinds of stuff in all kinds of scales.
  4. chris, thank you! tom, glad you like it! henry, thanks! scott, thanks buddy! chris, how did you know about the mini tig? thanks my friend! dave, thanks. the photo was VERY cool buddy! joe, the welds are decals. you can get them here. http://www.archertransfers.com/ joe b. i'm glad too. thanks !! bob, thank you!
  5. o.k. so,......i got one header in paint. weld beads are installed.
  6. if it helps, i get my taps and dies here. 2-56 is pretty common. if you need really small look up micro taps. http://www.mcmaster.com/#
  7. you could try making your own. i made a set of these in 1:8 scale. probably won't fit your build but, i can offer advice if wish to try.
  8. chris, i don't think rodder's juornal is available on the newstand. i'll see if i can scan the pics from mine for you.
  9. joe, no problem on the info. one of the reasons i hang around. david, stainless is a very pretty metal. i love the luster it creates. too bad it is such a ball breaker to work with. haven't had the chance to get involved with any laser welding. closest we get to at work are some of our suppliers laser cut our stainless parts. mark, thanks a ton!!!! scott, there's a matching header somewhere in my basement. i happened to stumble onto this sunday night looking for a tool i misplaced. i can tell you there won't be a new pair any time in the near future!! hehe!
  10. great to see you finishing this one chris!!! gonna be awesome when you're done!!!!!
  11. just thought i'd throw this out there. i did made a set of headers from stainless steel one time. tig'd them up. they were such P.I.T.A. i never did them again. i dug one them out for viewing. the collector was made by heating the stainless tubing and pressing over a mandrel that i made. i have the mandrel somewhere. anyway, plastic tubing is soooo much easier to work with. i stopped trying to make stainless ones.
  12. henry, thanks. chris, always a pleasure to hear from you my friend! dirk, thanks, buddy! joe, thanks! the tubing diameter i used was 5/16". scales up to 2.5" tubing. which is a little small but, as close as i could get. plastruct sells 90deg. and 45 dec. bends. for any of the bends that i couldn't use a pre-bend i either hand bent or used the fixture in one of the previous pics. i posted. for instance all of the bends used to make the collectors were bent in my fixture. i hope this answers your question. feel free to ask more.
  13. i definitely like the subject matter. a jeep w/ a blown 392........awesome!!!!!
  14. this is larry's post. if larry's o.k. with us continuing our discussion, i'll try to answer your question mitch. if not we can either start a new post or p.m. me. i think i see what you're saying but, the rules in place handle the situation you have in mind.
  15. leonard, thanks a ton buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. larry, first what ever car you were participating with in competition, i'd love to see it. race cars are just the coolest!!! as far as wallet size's. i did the same thing. we raced well over our heads when it came to money but, we never complained. we knew our bank roll was small and we just enjoyed the fact that we got to play in the same sandbox for a little while. i'm guessing there's more than one question in there but, the only one i can see is this. So I don't know is nitrous used in gasoline only class? in the ADRL, no. alky and gasoline are permitted in both PX and PN. you must remember nitrous is an oxidizer. it doesn't care what fuel it is mixed with. at std. atmosphere is about 21% oxygen by volume nitrous is about 36% by volume. more oxygen + more fuel= more power. a little simplistic but, you get the point. as far as the turbo guys using nitrous. it all depends on who's tuning the car and who you want to believe as to whether they're using it down track or not. it seems to be a bit of a hot topic between teams. if there is anything i can help you with, please don't be afraid to ask. if i don't know the answer, i don't know. if i do, i'll tell you what i know. larry, if some one rolls in and puts both his bulbs on at once. then goes up on the convertor(or rev limiter) shame on him. 3 of the 4 bulbs should be lit before any one goes to that point. once 3 of the 4 bulbs are lit you have 7 seconds to complete your staging process or you are disqualified. going up against the convertor or rev limiter on 2 bulbs being lit is just a rookie mistake. period. hopefully this sheds a little light on that. like i said, i'll help when i can.
  17. mike, thanks buddy! glad to be helpful. henry, thanks! kerry, i appreciate the nice comment.
  18. o.k so finished the last primary tube on this header. time for a test fit.
  19. thanks henry! thanks joe! yes, i was planning to put the welds on the tubes. we'll see if my sausage fingers will co-operate, hehe.
  20. well, here's a status report on the headers. i thought this would be a slow process and it seems i was right. it's one of those details that just needs to look as good as you can make it in large scale. you can see them pretty plainly so....... here's where i'm at. i have three primary tubes attached and working on the fourth. then its's off to the other side.
  21. you are truly a talent from another world clay!!!!!!!!!
  22. you are correct. nitrous is not legal on a blown car in the NHRA. when you say PSI blower. i am going to assume you are referring to the screw blower as PSI makes both a screw blower and a roots blower. you may want to check out the rules for the ADRL pro extreme class. the ADRL also runs a pro mod class but, it is the exact same rules as the NHRA. there are also alot of outlaw pro mod series running. may want to check them out.
  23. sorry to hear about the paint ken. the car is looking great!
  24. henry, thanks! jason thank you, i'm sure your build will come out spectacular! chris thanks buddy. you.....are the master of clean. me, just apprentice. mike thanks. how's that vette comin'?
  25. that's just way too cool chris!!!!!!! that is gonna soooooo good to display your body on.
