  1. Ben, mock ups can really consume the time and test the patience level. Your frame is nice - nothing to have to file off or fill in. I really like those fuel tanks
  2. I found this brand affordable and the color is "old Cat yellow" I did tone it down with a dull coat as I feel the engine should not outshine the paint of the truck. It was very glossy when dry. Not much shine on the real thing
  3. Very nice Sam, that plane looks like a lot of fun. You may have seen these before - when I lived in Southern Nevada several of us built these and would "dogfight" with them. http://www.spadtothebone.net/freeplans.htm Building these was the only time I looked forward to seeing election posters
  4. I have found those copy cat "Cat" colors to spray rater heavily. Be sure to prime your engine first and spray from a distance to just mist it on - that is how I have gotten my best results. I will also finish off with a dull coat spray as the glossy shine from the spray paint on a small surface does not look right to my eye.
  5. I have two questions and neither is related to your Mack. (1) where do you get cases big enough to cover a semi (2) does that rotary phone actually work ?
  6. Russell - That blue looks really good, but I think just about any color looks good on these trucks . Nice work on the ghost tire and fender lip.
  7. Very nice, this one is cruising right along. Did you have any problems mounting the cab ? The color of the dash looks like the color of the only real one I have seen. I dont know what color you would of called it "butterscotch" maybe ?
  8. Very cool Terry, I use to live in that town (Silverton CO) . Love the truck rumbling up Red Mtn Pass.. The turn wig-wag is awesome. I showed the part to my Wife of it leaving town and it made her cry seeing the town
  9. Lay out a piece of masking tape on glass or clean workmat and cut small square grids (for example 4mm x4mm) Patchwork your area starting along the frames and overlap each piece of tape. Smooth all edges with a blunt round toothpick. Same method for masking aircraft canopies.
  10. Is this the one ? I got that cool looking resin head with the purchase of a Jimmy Flinstone resin cab
  11. Brian - I knew I was missing something . I think I have the parts you need - I will post a picture after my morning cup of coffee...
  12. Thank you for the reply's and comments - I have located a dash. Brian - It always amazed me how many different vehicles are used in movies. Dave - did you go with rubber tires or another set of resin ? Terry - not sure why on the tanks , but even in today's wealth of information good original pictures are hard to find. latest update - new fuel tanks. Thanks for looking in
  13. hmmm, I must be missing something. I checked a seat and it just has a pedestal under it with two diagonal lines to where it looks like three pieces (?) Is that what your looking for ?
  14. My current project is the AITM Rubber Duck Mack. This is a really nice resin kit with some really fine castings with minimal cleanup . There have only been a few pieces I have not cared for. There is no real set of directions for this just a well thought out guideline sheet. My current progress mainly consist of mockups. The kit supplied fuel tanks and I have had a challenge , this is the only casting I did not care for. I have spent the past few days filling, sanding , filling - repeat. Much to my happiness I found some decent side shots online and discovered they are not correct anyway. New tanks have been cut from pvc pipe and will be used instead. Here is the kit supplied "half a Mack" which suits me just fine as I will not be cutting the hood from the cab anyway. (I have yet to open a hood or tilt the cab after a model hits the shelf) I am currently looking for a "plastic" Mack R model dash to replace the resin one in the kit if anybody has a spare. Thanks for looking in
  15. What is that old saying "Welcome to my web said the spider" Bill you should get a kit and give one a try
  16. I dont really remember any quirks with this kit other then it does take some time to build. Any challenges I may have faced might of been due to this being my first wooden boat. However I had built R/C aircraft for many years and was familiar with working with wood structures. The biggest thing is having a dedicated work area - I used a hollow core door mounted on two sawhorses for my bench. If I remember right I figured there was about 120 hrs from start to finish. I did put R/C gear in mine which does not take away from the static display and she would cut a beautiful wake when I took it out. Not the best pics but all I could find.
  17. Thank you guys for the information.
  18. Sounds like a good plan, I have several sets of the lightning decals if you need them.
  19. Wow - I believe this is the first time I ever saw one of these built out of the box. You did a real fine job on it and welcome to the world of truck modeling.
  20. Does anyone have any pictures they could post showing the dash and interior ? I dont know anything about the RL-RS 700LS trucks so I cant trust the wide array of misleading photos on the internet. Also what colors would of the Mack engines been besides gold ? Thank you
  21. What a great combination. The tractor paint scheme is very pleasing and you cant go wrong with a ribbed trailer. Second picture down if by itself I would really been fooled thinking it was real.
  22. I hear you on that , I was looking at a K-123 bumper and it has a hair plated over. Not sure if it is human or rat
  23. Fantastic looking mobile orange parking lot. That orange 4-wheeler cracks me up !
