  1. Oh one more addition - made a Coronet hood for the Revell 69 Super bee kit from an ancient vacuform conversion kit. Total of 4 separate pieces (topside, bottom and scoops) and it was a lot of fun.
  2. Now that is cool - what is your method for bending the styrene? Ive never had much luck with tight bends.
  3. More of a weekend goof off that has filtered over - Decided to look in all the AMT Challenger boxes up on the shelf. Here is the lineup L-R AMT 70 Challenger with a 440 six pack ,resin 70 SE body (small back window) fitted to AMT chassis with a Yankee Challenger hood hole that the hood has been filled, AMT 70 Challenger with a 72-74 resin conversion & hood from Harts Parts, AMT 70 Challenger with a 66 Nova pro street chassis fitted and Compresins hood. It was a Mopar weekend.
  4. The earlier kits such as the Baldwin Camaro have excellent bodies as well as the molded in gray 70.5's . Its the recycled highway cone orange chi'na plastic kits that are the worse. But when you can buy them from Hobby Lobby on sale for $13.00 they are worth the inconvenience to fix , especially if your building older quarter mile cars.
  5. This is a cool car, Ive always wanted a 1/1 of the 62-64 Dart. Ive been looking at the 62 Plymouth Fury kits with that duckbill bumper on ebay wondering what they could become on the bench. DJ - Thanks for the info on sourcing the Max-Wedge !
  6. Yes, these body's have some defects - wait till you look at the passenger fender rear. Easy fix though by gluing in some styrene and reshaping it. As we use to say in the body shops "You cant look at both sides at the same time" !
  7. I have the same type of bench as Dave, but no where near as tidy. Two of my modeling friends says my work area gives them anxiety.
  8. You got the highest praise you can ever get on this project this morning - my wife walked by and saw it, stopped and said that is one of the "coolest projects ever"! I like it also as it just has the right look for what you're going after.
  9. I really like this project. The foiling looks great on the new paint. Ive got the same body stashed away - but haven't decided who to build it after.
  10. This looks fast just sitting on the bench. Way cool project!
  11. I like the stance and the S&M decal on the case is Top Notch eye appeal!
  12. Thank you all who took a look and commented - I made the cage for the Monza with a Grumpy Vega parts. I had the lengthen, widen and extend the height. Seemed at the moment easier than scratch'building one. The mounting points are held only with white glue for mock-up hence the off center back window bars.
  13. That is a real great find - can you post a pic of the intake manifold please ?
  14. Id go with the Bare Metal Foil myself. I once painted a P-38 with Alclad and it looked great but was fragile to touch. Ive seen modelers over in England glue strips of aluminum foil over B-17's also. They looked great but a tedious task.
  15. Not a car or truck but an interesting sign at a rest stop in Montana
  16. I saved this 1959 Imperial from going to the dump earlier this week. I'm gonna guess this was built in the early 70's by dating the magazines and newspapers that were in the same room. And of course I will scour ebay to find another body to graft the windshield frame to save/ repair this one. (yes I know I can buy a whole kit - but where is the fun in that)
  17. I like this one a lot - looks fantastic!
  18. Bringing this from the depths - Still working on all these Grumpy cars. Getting some decals applied in the mornings before working on 1/1 projects.
  19. Wow that looks great, You've got me wanting to build up one of my S&M Super birds. I'll have to source a hood scoop though 😎
  20. Ive got 2 extra from where I had to order another set of "Toy VI" decals when I wrecked the fender stripe. PM me your address and Ill send them to you. Edit - I see you found them, I got sidetracked while looking for them.
  21. I really like the six pack hood as it stands out and looks mean. The flat hoods are for NASCAR !
  22. Federal Mogul (bearings) Most of the Slixx Grumpy decals from that era have them. Edit - The Grump 69 Camaro decals (Toy VI ) has them for certain.
  23. Was the "For Sale " sign before or after the front end damage??
  24. I have to say this is my most favorite out of your "Building the Covers" series. I have a great appreciation for the old survivors , and that your dad built this one makes it even better. How lucky you are to have had the enjoyment of building models with your dad. Thank you for showing this one.
  25. If John doesn't have them, Ive got them for you.
