  1. Looks great, always wanted to build one ! Do you display the magazines with your models?
  2. Bill this book has a chapter on hand laying rail which I think is the best Ive seen in 50 years of Model RR magazines and books. If you don't have one - get one, or if you cant find a bargain let me know as I'm sure i have a duplicate or two.
  3. Nice grab on the HOn3 , that is actually the scale I model and the standard gauge is the odd ball line for my stuff. I mixed in the dual gauge track for a certain mining town I modeled.
  4. Bill, Ive had really good luck removing those pesky labels when they are cold. When UPS leaves a box on the porch in February with negative 30 temps they almost fall off themselves. If you have opened the kit ,Id put the top in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer for a few hours.
  5. That would be a perfect candidate for a Nascar convertible !
  6. Ive already been removing parts off the trees, the parts I thought was cool was the 6 carb intake, gasser front axle setup. The window glass is poor fitting but I can make my own Ive built worse kits, and there are a lot of little ejector pin marks to file away - but I'll take them any day over the divots that need to be filled. This is my version with some wheels from the parts box for a quick mock up.
  7. Almost everybody had nice calendars back then !
  8. Mocked up the Atlantis 57 Nomad gasser project - I pulled this out 5 days ago when it decided to snow. (again) This kit has its challenging points, but who has an "Easy" button on their bench ?
  9. Don't do it - send it off and have it fixed, this was your grandfathers watch he most likely got a lot of use out of it. The cost outlay may have a bit of a sting to it, but having it fixed , cleaned correctly will provide you with a lifetime of service - instead of it ending up in a box of parts hidden away. You really cant put a dollar worth on something like this that will last if properly taken care of.
  10. I liked Salvage 1 , that was a cool show. I almost grew up to be a space nerd till my exposure to a big block Chevy with open headers ! 😎
  11. Such a Super build and I like your style of "no rules to follow" that means just plain old fun!
  12. Bought this old unwanted jewel off ebay for $11.00, The car is built and painted "pepto bismal pink". After stripping it will meet Mr Razor Saw to become to be rebuilt into Nascar convertible. The box was in really good condition also. The above pic was reduced to 1024 x 768 for the new upload limit guidelines.
  13. I'm a fan of this one - looks really good!
  14. I like what you are doing here and will be sure to follow for updates. Wished I'd known you needed another body, I bought up a bunch of these kits to use the chassis under the MPC Cuda annuals.
  15. About two weeks ago, I just scoffed and muttered "you're gonna have to do better than that" my phone is used for calling - not internet surfing or payments of any type. Less than 10 people have the number and I have to look it up myself. So anything like that I know its a load of crud. Ive never driven a toll road but I have been fleeced crossing the Tacoma Bridge many a time in the past.
  16. Love those old NASCAR's and this one looks great !
  17. Looking out the window - Anybody wanting to move to Montana ? I will take models in trade for property 😄
  18. Bill is right on, I haven't liked the putty they sell for models as far back to the 1990's. This is my go to putty for plastic, and to date Ive never had any trouble with it. The only challenge was mixing a kidney bean size of putty with a seed bead size amount of hardener. I used it on the nose of this Daytona Charger, But in the past Ive used it thicker for molding flares as you are making.
  19. Niko - I was never really a fan of the big ole A bodies, But I'm really a fan of yours and it looks wicked as Haiti's !! 😎 You've definitely changed my mind on how good these look and can be fixed up.
  20. Buy property first, doesn't do you any good to acquire them if you have no place to store them. I had a collection of first gen Camaro's and parts on the family ranch in Colorado, I left to work out of state for a year and came back to nothing. 😞
  21. What a cool back story and great looking car. Was it pretty tough to find the body parts and Chevy engine parts where you are located?
  22. You should keep your brush painted builds as is , down the road a person always wishes they had their earlier built models. My suggestion, pick up the same kits and build them with your improved knowledge and skills.
