Anyone use Alclad?
Old Buckaroo replied to Mike77's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The trick with Alclad is to paint it with very low pressure and from a distance.I spray about 8" away and such a light mist you wont even see any color untill about the 3rd or 4th time. Maybe that is how you need to try the Spaz. I have never used it so I dont know for sure. -
Mack DM 600

You are probably the first here to build one, everyone else just has the kit in their stash. -

Brian - that air dryer looks pretty convincing to me. Very nice scratch building. -

Truck projects like this is what makes this forum so great. You hardly ever see a kit built represented by the box art. Very impressive work on this one Terry. -

Like the phrase "Sexy" - I have learned that should read "Look away" -
GMC Astro
Old Buckaroo replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks guys, Due to an unexpected upcoming move I am disassembling my hobby room. I have lost my momentum on this truck and several others. I do not feel like packing these partial builds up to move. If anyone is interested in taking over this GMC project drop me a p/m. Thank you for following -
Ebay dreamers
Old Buckaroo replied to 1959scudetto's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I always find those listings pure entertaining. I am pretty sure I have seen that persons work before from you accurate description. I think you may have forgotten the seam line separations. The way I look at it if those trucks are "pro built" then that must put my models in the "expertise" level . I have only bought "old built ups" due to needing parts or to restore as the kit is no longer available. But a lot of people do buy built models as well as diecast for displaying. -
If you love old warbirds, Spitfires in particular...
Old Buckaroo replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
It is not as difficult as you think ,everything you need to know - http://www.swannysmodels.com/Scribing.html That is a beautiful spitfire, those old planes have such a menacing sound. -
Revell also puts out two 1/25 Semi trucks, a Kenworth W-900 and a Peterbilt 359 .They are favorites among the big rig builders as the possibilities are endless on how you can build them.

I never knew the fenders hinged open on these trucks until I saw the reference picture you printed. Fantastic work, this is an eye pleasing project. -
30,000 Model Cars
Old Buckaroo replied to Olderisbetter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I find it sad that the church is only interested in the revenue the collection will generate. I would think a museum in his honor would be the thing to do and keep the collection intact. -
about how many models have you
Old Buckaroo replied to bubbaman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
More then I need and with upcoming move in a few months, there is going to be a lot less. -

DODGE 1953 COE with trailer milk
Old Buckaroo replied to CUSTOMBOY's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
That is really nice. I like the coe much better then the L-700 cab. That is the coolest Milk truck I have ever seen! Will you be offering these cabs for sale? -
I am very happy that the magazine arrived in a poly bag. Here is a recent example of how our mail generally gets to us. Not only is it mutilated it had been wet enough to have been in a flood. My wife has canceled all her subscriptions due to the same problem. We inquired to the Post Offices on why the mail was arriving so damaged and usually wet - we got a letter back stating they are Not in the business of replacing mail, we have to contact the publishers for that. What ? we were asking for them to look into the problem of the carriers that deliver to the PO. Typical Govt. business - having no recollection or any responsibility of what is happening.

Brian - I am very impressed with how this truck looks so far. What will you use for the fuel tank straps BMF or some of that aluminum tape for duct work? -
Wow, that sounds really great. I got my first issue ever (#200) yesterday. Best model magazine I have read yet! I wish I would of seen that deal, I had tried buying back issues back in December with no luck.

Changes at Model Cars Magazine
Old Buckaroo replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I recently subscribed, my first issue #200 showed today in a very nice durable plastic sleeve. No damage by mishandling from the post office. What a great magazine, I can not believe I have never seen one before in all my years of modeling - but then again I have always lived in remote locations. -

Boom Haul - Pic Update!!!
Old Buckaroo replied to tiking's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
This is the most realistic picture I have ever seen modeled on a bucket and boom. Every thing about it is perfect and If I had not seen the previous pictures I would of though it to be a reference picture. The rest of the model is top notch also but the pic above - Wow! -
Wondering about all the Forum's members...
Old Buckaroo replied to Ramfins59's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Richard , I am also guilty of looking at the Birthdays and seeing if they are active as I sometimes send a Happy Birthday p/m to members. It is hard to say where they have all gone, I was a long time member at FSM and when they changed their forum format I did not care for it. Add to the fact I quit building aircraft and ships - not much reason to spend any more time there. I also think that maybe the facebook groups capture more attention. This I do not know for sure as I dont fb , but I see post here linking to the pages there. Who knows, this is a great place for my interests and I like it here.
