  1. Howdy Jan - That is a mighty fine looking combination you just dont see anymore. Fantastic collection displayed models also , better then a museum.
  2. I am not a trucker but thought you might like the view of the yard this morning. My camera was beeping at me - I think it does not like negative temperatures.
  3. Yeah Terry the resin dust is flying now , this will be way cool ! Now you know Clayton will be wanting to open his doors and suicide them now
  4. Ha, you dont know me very well. The more I look at something the less I like it. Those cab vents were aggravating me the more I looked at them, so out came the chisel bladed knife and off they went. Made 4 more up that are not so fat looking - back to fixing gremlins.
  5. One of my most favorite trucks of all time. Wow , you have done a really fantastic job on this and that color match looks right on.
  6. A quick mock up for pg 3. The top of the doors have the KW taper removed and the vent window has been relocated. I have also pretty much have found all the little gremlins on the cab. Lots of Mr. Surfacer 500 to fill small imperfections. Now the real work starts - Making the cab mounts and cutting the grill where it will pivot. Thanks for looking in
  7. I dont mind paying a little more for older kits as the quality of plastic is better. But who can justify Highway robbery prices on kits that are so high no one will touch them . Like $425.00 for a BJ McKay truck
  8. Rich - I know right where that outhouse sits Clayton - That looks like the next season we will have here in Montana. First the snow has to go away... Its not real mud until you have to chain up
  9. Pat - they use to not be color coded . They were mostly rubber hoses ,black and if you were fancy you might have a redish one . Then guys started getting those hard line coiled air hoses from sears that was yellow. I cant remember when they became "red & blue" maybe about the time truck driving schools started popping up (?) I noticed the color coded more in the 1980's or my exposure to trucks was greater.
  10. Old Albion - Thank you for looking in, I am glad you like it. Mark - That 86" is so cool. I will have to make one now. Vic - wow, thank you I got a little work done on this one today and painted the dash up. Thanks for looking in !
  11. This is a nice kit to build. As said before a square and level frame makes life easy. Square grid hobby mats are fantastic for that purpose.
  12. Ben , nice "australianisation" to that Mack ! Where did you source your spokers from ?
  13. Brian you caught the changes . A cabover Pacer - now that would be cool ! After taking a pic with primer I noticed the droopy seam / gutter above the windshield. I fixed that issue.
  14. Gino - I like that color combination also. Is the base color Ivory ? Have you ever enlisted the help of a spray bottle for your decal applications ? Back many years ago (1990's) building 70's pro stocks I used slixx decals that would run the car length. Misting the body with water before decal was the only way I could fix any miss aligned error with those super thin decals.
  15. It would be a Revell chain gang chopper. I watched my brother build this at a very young age. I would like to find one.
  16. Clayton - This is my second one. My other one had a masonite pad and I wore it out from cutting strips of wood for my model rr . Gino - I hope I can pull it of somewhat close. Sam - I make too many decisions and all are the hardest way to do things I believe . Rich - Thank you Dennis, I was hoping you had one after seeing some of your projects. Jacobus - I was hoping that would help you out. Today's progress, got the cab to where I could give it a shot of primer and find all the hidden gremlins. Ok, you sharp eyed Cummin's guys - I did a couple of modifications to my engine. One real obvious the other maybe not. Thanks for looking in and commenting
  17. Mark - It is Great to see you Wow - your going to have to place a protective wrap over your work table as not to scratch the bottom of this build up !
  18. Wow, this is spectacular build up. I like your style and choice of modeling subjects. I agree with you on how hard it is to find pictures of this truck, it is a photo phantom for sure.
  19. Nice work on the engine ! It is a purty color - I am anxious to see what you have planned for the truck and chassis. I have been a fan of solder for years making piping and exhaust curves.
  20. That is a great idea for backdating the wheels. As you said they can make or break the truck. What will you use to replace the lugs ? Do they make a plastic stock in that shape ans size ?
  21. I love this monster International. What did you thin/ reduce your Mr Surfacer with ? I use this stuff all the time for filling in imperfections and such but never used it as a base primer.
  22. Thanks guys for commenting More work on the cab today. I needed to get the cab toe-steps made. I brought in the Chopper again, these things are great for cutting multiple pieces the same size. all five pieces cut Assembled and in place Thanks for looking in - until next time
  23. Beautiful truck, everything looks just perfect . This is one of the finest AMt's I have ever seen. Man, I really like this one. I have always wanted to paint a few trucks this color.
  24. Thanks guys, that axle about made me crazy. My handling of small parts is pretty poor anymore. I worked on the cab some more today, filled the old hatches and scribed new ones. First I made a styrene pattern and attached it with double sided scotch tape. Next I took the pinvise with a tip made from a "T-Pin" and scribed around it several times being very careful on the corners and around the filled areas. After I had a good scribe I followed up with the scribbing tool and widened the gap. A touch of liquid cement takes away the fuzz and cleans the groove.
  25. It has taken me more time to make a poseable front axle then I spent roughing out the cab. I did narrow the DR axle and to strengthen the seam I cut a paperclip up and CA'ed it in the axle channel .
