  1. Thank you guys for commenting on the paint Jeff - Keep in mind the lower half is a decal that had the red printed. As for masking off the top half I use Tamiya tape as it has never failed me yet. But sometimes I fail myself by not double checking my tape lines. JT - that has to be the coolest idea I have heard for a long time. I would really like to see that. I am still plugging away on it, It is that last stuff on the cab that bogs me down - handrails, clearance lights ect.
  2. I knew I could not be the only one with a shelf of partial built trucks Clayton - Wow, that is a nice variety of Peterbilts ! Angel - Your almost there , I think you can finish it . Terry - Come on , I know you can fill a page with your projects Gino - Those are some cool builds, I really like the Freightshaker and drom. (I have one of those planned for someday also) Dennis - That D-11 looks to be about ready to be loaded on the trailer. Hope to see you back on it ! Jeff - Great trucks, I really like the green IH !
  3. Thank you Dave, not being able to edit was really aggravating.
  4. I always look forward to these topics. It is great to see everyone's hard work and creativity in one place. Here my contribution Revell Snap Pete And another just for Clayton AMT Diamond Reo (Russel's Apollo 116) Ertl Transtar CO4070A Double Bunk parts box AMT Pete and AITM Resin 351 conversion
  5. Something different to show your Unfinished Trucks for whatever reason . My unfinished trucks are mainly due to a much needed trip to a real hobby shop for supplies. First - Parts box Peterbilt 353 Second - BJ McKay Kenworth Third - 1/32 Ford CL-9000 And the last one - Peterbilt 386 with Cat engine Dust those projects off and post them
  6. This is a blast from the past. I vaguely remember this model from a picture many decades ago . I am so happy to see some sources showing it again. I so want to build a replica of this model as it is so unique.
  7. Vic, I never did find the post on this forum I was talking about. I did however find this jewel over at "Tims" site last night while looking at other stuff. Maybe this will help on your next WS truck. http://public.fotki.com/mackinac359/workbench-1/how-i-did-it/amt-white-western-s/ Those AMT frames can be a challenge - I wish I would of been smart enough to have had a square grid to work off when I was a teenager . I dont think I ever had a straight frame or one without a twist. Those hobby mats with 1" grids are a top notch.
  8. Thanks Sam, I really had to tone it down as the fresh painted Black and Orange was not working. Here is a tip for you guys - My exhaust work no matter how many times I checked and adjusted I still had a nasty gap that looked like a wedge cut out of a tree. I filled it in on the left above the flex pipe with everyday white glue usinga pointed toothpick. When dry as it is now it leaves a fillet that can then be touched up with some paint. Here is my pride - the intake grills. Not like the prototype but close enough. I used some photo etch radar screen from back in my ship building days. I will not tell you how many times I have removed them, stripped them and reattached. The white glue was too thick and plugging the holes. I flashed back to earlier modeling days when I used a lot of that by product of the Devil himself (photo etch) and used Future brushed on as an adhesive. I hope those tips will make life easier for some of you. Thanks for looking in
  9. Rich - That bridge is about 45 minutes from where I grew up. Makes me homesick seeing those pictures.
  10. I have still not been able to find that great post that went into detail of mounting the cab and hood. Seems like to me one of the "Chuck" posted it. Have your cab and hood been permanently attached ? From the one picture they seem to sit a bit high which could be solved by lowering the rear and both cab mounts a touch. If you have attached them I would not mess with it at all. I really like the work you have done and at how well the paint combo looks !
  11. Michael - These Whites were called Jap Freightliner's due to many of the components were marked "Made in Japan". The "wall furnace" intake was a name I gave that big rectangle intake as it reminded me of the old vertical "Wall furnace" heaters that use to be common in houses. The exhaust 2 into one 1 - Because that is what I wanted a single stack.
  12. Terry - Just the fuel tanks and air filter can Mark -I hope the hinge idea works for you, I was going nuts trying to come up with something. Dennis - Thank you. Brian - let me know as I have extra rectangular brass . Mark Orr - Thank you for stopping by. Little update for this week, getting more paint sprayed. I need to get decide how I am going to paint the inner cab and start making up the outer cab details. Thanks for looking in
  13. Restore - that is a nice looking truck, what are they going to do repaint the bumper ? That is a cool mixer. When I was a kid my Dad had a dump truck very similar to that year on the ranch. I bet when Terry (superpeterbilt) see's this he will want to build a model of it .
  14. That has to be the most realistic miniature dash I have ever seen. Looks to be right out of a 1/1 truck. Very nice work !
  15. Wow, this truck looks to be right out of Owner Operator magazine. The paint work is stunning , and I really like your idea of the under cab insulation. (I borrowed your idea on an IH coe I rebuilt) This model should be on a poster or calendar picture !
  16. This is one spectacular build ! So much on this truck that catches my eye from the rounded fenders, headlights, louvered grill - Wow ! I cant believe you got that cummins stuffed in there, the cab must have a doghouse comparable to a cabover. Really, really nice work !
  17. This was such a great truck build to follow. I kinda hated to see it finished - but it sure turned out to be an attention grabber. Geeze - no coolant flowing through that rare engine
  18. Howdy Mark, Thanks for looking in. I think I will be leaning towards more "old school trucks" this Winter. Vic I hope I can keep the momentum going forward ! Rich - Thank you I got the cab painted last week, I also went for the "wall furnace" air intake - K&S Brass was used. Thanks for looking in
  19. That is a nice looking Peterbilt , and the Ford resto is coming along as well .
  20. Fantastic color combination and scheme ! Somewhere hidden in this forum are some really good tips on mounting the cabs and hoods for the Diamond Reo's, Whites and WWS trucks. I looked but could not find it. Basically you want to have the cab and hood taped together and mount them as a unit so you dont end up with the dreaded hood gap. Also most times the front cab mount needs to be relocated on the floorpan. I trimmed mine off to get it out of the way and used pieces of styrene blocked up on the floorpan to adjust the height .
  21. Still a mystery ? I am going to say model as light appears to be coming through the front fender due to thin material.
  22. That is a beauty ! ( never thought I would say that about a trash hauler ) Very nice work all the way around. My favorite feature the working net or whatever it is called. I would not be able to resist shredding up some different color paper mounted to a piece of foamboard for a load - if that was on my shelf.
  23. Aaron, I really like the top picture of the Kenworth. I have a mid 50's KW cab that I have been wanting to make a logger out of. I have an Ertl Paystar logger kit and the truck & trailer does have the pintle setup . I dont have an AMT to compare to but one would think it should be the same.
  24. This has to be my most favorite thread. If I had a dollar for all the minutes spent here looking at the cabovers. Greg - You have coe's everywhere in your house. I am surprised you dont have a table centerpiece with a flatbed holding napkins, salt & pepper ect
  25. Tom are you scratch building the cab ?
