Revell Peterbilt 359 *engine*
Old Buckaroo replied to JTRACING's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
That has to be the most realistic miniature dash I have ever seen. Looks to be right out of a 1/1 truck. Very nice work ! -
Original Oldschool 352
Old Buckaroo replied to OlSchoolRedo's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Wow, this truck looks to be right out of Owner Operator magazine. The paint work is stunning , and I really like your idea of the under cab insulation. (I borrowed your idea on an IH coe I rebuilt) This model should be on a poster or calendar picture ! -
White 9000 from Maximum Overdrive.
Old Buckaroo replied to White7000's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
This is one spectacular build ! So much on this truck that catches my eye from the rounded fenders, headlights, louvered grill - Wow ! I cant believe you got that cummins stuffed in there, the cab must have a doghouse comparable to a cabover. Really, really nice work ! -
The elusive GMC B-7000
Old Buckaroo replied to landman's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
This was such a great truck build to follow. I kinda hated to see it finished - but it sure turned out to be an attention grabber. Geeze - no coolant flowing through that rare engine -

Fantastic color combination and scheme ! Somewhere hidden in this forum are some really good tips on mounting the cabs and hoods for the Diamond Reo's, Whites and WWS trucks. I looked but could not find it. Basically you want to have the cab and hood taped together and mount them as a unit so you dont end up with the dreaded hood gap. Also most times the front cab mount needs to be relocated on the floorpan. I trimmed mine off to get it out of the way and used pieces of styrene blocked up on the floorpan to adjust the height . -
Real or Model - for old times sake FINISHED
Old Buckaroo replied to peteski's topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
Still a mystery ? I am going to say model as light appears to be coming through the front fender due to thin material. -
DM 600 Container roll-off completed
Old Buckaroo replied to Tesla's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
That is a beauty ! ( never thought I would say that about a trash hauler ) Very nice work all the way around. My favorite feature the working net or whatever it is called. I would not be able to resist shredding up some different color paper mounted to a piece of foamboard for a load - if that was on my shelf. -
AMT logging trailer?
Old Buckaroo replied to Aaronw's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Aaron, I really like the top picture of the Kenworth. I have a mid 50's KW cab that I have been wanting to make a logger out of. I have an Ertl Paystar logger kit and the truck & trailer does have the pintle setup . I dont have an AMT to compare to but one would think it should be the same. -
post just your cabovers here
Old Buckaroo replied to Ken Gilkeson's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
This has to be my most favorite thread. If I had a dollar for all the minutes spent here looking at the cabovers. Greg - You have coe's everywhere in your house. I am surprised you dont have a table centerpiece with a flatbed holding napkins, salt & pepper ect -

Big Trucks, Spoked Wheels..
Old Buckaroo replied to 10thumbs's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
On the outers and front, they are toward the inside of the rim and pretty much hidden from the eye . I wouldn't bother. -
removing paint
Old Buckaroo replied to cowboy rich's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My preferred method is Simple Green in a Tupperware type tub and lid. I have found it works way quicker if warm as kept on top of the refrigerator or a few feet from a heat vent in a secure room from kids and pets. 24 hrs and most paint slips right off. Easy off works best if used in a large ziplock bag, place the cab or body and spray it down real good and zip it . Ten minutes later the paint is history. Might need to respray stubborn spots. -
351 Peterbilt conversion
Old Buckaroo replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Helmut - No reason to apologize, I get confused on truck types myself. The 281's were a single drive axle drive. A 281 was the truck used in the movie Duel with tandems on the back but one was a tag axle. The 351's had tandem drive axles. Mark - I am glad you looked in ! Bob I am partial to the older work trucks. Jacobus - I am very much looking forward to your 351 project. I hope to learn from yours for my next one. Gino - Nothing beats good old aluminum and fiberglass for trucks , plastic trucks I dont care for. Gator - Thank you , I cant wait to see what your memory conjures up for an old classic. Old Albion - I love the bling on the old 1970's trucks but I also appreciate the "Plain Jane's" Dennis - I have plans for a tri - axle drive Yukon truck . Not that I have ever been to the Yukon but my version will be what I would expect to see there Thank you everyone for looking in and commenting -
KW COE Aero / BJ McKay rig
Old Buckaroo replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
After several years I finally got the cab painted with partial decals . Angel - my decals had that area printed red, matching it was not easy.I think after the decals get cleared the reds will be closer. Clayton are you looking ? I am digging out these old dinosaurs and finishing them up to try and Motivate you -
Man, I just watched Scarface and Armed and Dangerous last week. My next run of Netflix has "Big" coming. How weird is that, I added those movies to my queue last month. Sad to hear that news, he was a great actor.

Whats your work area like?
Old Buckaroo replied to Dann Tier's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It is always fun to see a tread like this one, all of the work areas are great . For many years I used an old discarded vanity with one drawer missing. Made a great place for my compressor ! I built this bench with benchwork from my old model rr. It disassembles easily and this is the second house it has been in. -
Kenworth T900
Old Buckaroo replied to Kenny900's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Daniel - Both of your trucks are very nice. I really like the six spokers on the gold truck and the stripes on the blue ! I cant wait to see your future truck builds. -

Very Nice Jacobus, is the Duck the AITM offering ? The International reminds me of one I drove years ago for picking up Caterpillar parts for mining equipment. -

Thank you everyone who looked in and commented ! Angel - I agree with you, I am tired of Alcoa's in kits. Tom - I will keep my eyes open for another emblem. Clayton - this is an old build finished up, come on I know you have a few out there Terry - I stumbled upon that large horn searching for other parts and knew where it had to go. Brian - The wheels are AITM products. Email Dave and ask for them as his list always says out of stock. Jim - I am happy to get this one displayed. Dave - This was the learner, I know what not to do for the next one. -
