1/32 Mack Super-Liner conversion
Old Buckaroo replied to Bennyg's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Howdy Benny, I really dont know much about these Mack's - I do have the AMT hid away somewhere. I would imagine a "day panel conversion" would be welcomed for the Revell kit as it looks like the sleeper is molded to the cab. A 60" Able body sleeper would be really cool. There seems to be more guys over at Hanks that build 1/32 trucks and you might get more feedback . -
White 7400

Brian - thank you, I believe it was your White I saw over at Hanks that impressed me to where I wanted to build one myself. Dave - thank you , I am pretty pleased with it. I call this my learning curve. Clayton - I am glad you like it Sam - wow what a comment, honestly color combinations are my biggest obstacle that I deal with. Dave - Spalding Trading has them on ebay all the time. You better get one before the molds wear out. Trailer - we have no room for trailers here Terry - Your style of trucks and building have really influenced me, Thank you ! Michael - Thank you, I usually cheat on my tires and use a mini sand blaster, but is has been like negative 10 in my garage. So I had to result to Green Scotchbrite pads for this truck. I cut the pad in about 1" squares and dry scrub and scrub. I clean the green dust off with a stiff brush and scrub more if there is any shine. Vic - I am glad you stopped in and that you like it ! Angel - Thank you, I have a few more oddities planned to hit the bench. Gator - Thank you, I am not so intimidated to tackle some of my other resin projects. -
KW COE Aero / BJ McKay rig

Jeff - I buy the 6mm & 10mm refill rolls size. I dont mess around with the dispenser thing, I keep the tape in the packaging it come in to keep it clean and prefer to cut it with scissors for a clean cut. I will go over the sealing edge with a blunt toothpick to make sure it is sealed for sharp lines. I will then mask on the Tamiya tape with everyday blue painters tape for large areas. -
I am moving this to the finished shelf. The truck still needs cargo hatch T handles, Windshield wipers ( I checked every kit I have for a decent pair) and the pogo stick (which will be made of brass when I find my solder) This was my first full resin cab project and a learning curve for me. The in progress can be seen here - Thanks for looking in

My guess it is one of those "customizing" nightmares of the 1970's . There must of been a shortage of vans. Now dont get all bent from my comment - there was some really cool stuff during the "customizing craze" but also some Not so Good.

Jacobus - Thank you for the best wishes and I Hope You and Yours has a Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year. I am looking very forward to your CL-9000 as I have one of those hid away also. Jim - That is a rain cap. I punched a small disk of styrene , trimmed a piece of scrap and sliced a piece of Tamiya masking tape for the bracket. Brian - it is just paint, Thank you I could almost call this one done except I have not found a set of mirrors on hand that I like for this truck. I will most likely build a set . Also need turn indicator lights and compartment T-handles . Thanks for looking in.

Thank you guys for commenting on the paint Jeff - Keep in mind the lower half is a decal that had the red printed. As for masking off the top half I use Tamiya tape as it has never failed me yet. But sometimes I fail myself by not double checking my tape lines. JT - that has to be the coolest idea I have heard for a long time. I would really like to see that. I am still plugging away on it, It is that last stuff on the cab that bogs me down - handrails, clearance lights ect. -
I knew I could not be the only one with a shelf of partial built trucks Clayton - Wow, that is a nice variety of Peterbilts ! Angel - Your almost there , I think you can finish it . Terry - Come on , I know you can fill a page with your projects Gino - Those are some cool builds, I really like the Freightshaker and drom. (I have one of those planned for someday also) Dennis - That D-11 looks to be about ready to be loaded on the trailer. Hope to see you back on it ! Jeff - Great trucks, I really like the green IH !

Thank you Dave, not being able to edit was really aggravating.

weird cabover that looks to be ford
Old Buckaroo replied to blazefox's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is a blast from the past. I vaguely remember this model from a picture many decades ago . I am so happy to see some sources showing it again. I so want to build a replica of this model as it is so unique. -

Vic, I never did find the post on this forum I was talking about. I did however find this jewel over at "Tims" site last night while looking at other stuff. Maybe this will help on your next WS truck. http://public.fotki.com/mackinac359/workbench-1/how-i-did-it/amt-white-western-s/ Those AMT frames can be a challenge - I wish I would of been smart enough to have had a square grid to work off when I was a teenager . I dont think I ever had a straight frame or one without a twist. Those hobby mats with 1" grids are a top notch. -
Thanks Sam, I really had to tone it down as the fresh painted Black and Orange was not working. Here is a tip for you guys - My exhaust work no matter how many times I checked and adjusted I still had a nasty gap that looked like a wedge cut out of a tree. I filled it in on the left above the flex pipe with everyday white glue usinga pointed toothpick. When dry as it is now it leaves a fillet that can then be touched up with some paint. Here is my pride - the intake grills. Not like the prototype but close enough. I used some photo etch radar screen from back in my ship building days. I will not tell you how many times I have removed them, stripped them and reattached. The white glue was too thick and plugging the holes. I flashed back to earlier modeling days when I used a lot of that by product of the Devil himself (photo etch) and used Future brushed on as an adhesive. I hope those tips will make life easier for some of you. Thanks for looking in

A truckers view of mother nature.

Rich - That bridge is about 45 minutes from where I grew up. Makes me homesick seeing those pictures. -

I have still not been able to find that great post that went into detail of mounting the cab and hood. Seems like to me one of the "Chuck" posted it. Have your cab and hood been permanently attached ? From the one picture they seem to sit a bit high which could be solved by lowering the rear and both cab mounts a touch. If you have attached them I would not mess with it at all. I really like the work you have done and at how well the paint combo looks ! -
Michael - These Whites were called Jap Freightliner's due to many of the components were marked "Made in Japan". The "wall furnace" intake was a name I gave that big rectangle intake as it reminded me of the old vertical "Wall furnace" heaters that use to be common in houses. The exhaust 2 into one 1 - Because that is what I wanted a single stack.
-
Terry - Just the fuel tanks and air filter can Mark -I hope the hinge idea works for you, I was going nuts trying to come up with something. Dennis - Thank you. Brian - let me know as I have extra rectangular brass . Mark Orr - Thank you for stopping by. Little update for this week, getting more paint sprayed. I need to get decide how I am going to paint the inner cab and start making up the outer cab details. Thanks for looking in
