  1. 1600 holes to go 1599 holes to go Kenny this is the most amazing rebuild.. I had always thought there was a 1/16 Pete. A friend of mine dropped a whopping $80.00 for one back in '81.. But you rarely see this kit. This is some Top Notch work I eagerly look forward to seeing updates on. That KW you painted with the airbrush has to be the Sharpest looking and realist model I have ever laid eyes on. Different background and I would swear it was off the pages of Owner Operator.
  2. What a Super build, nice to see one of these being built.. Great work and it looks fantastic.
  3. Put the cab on to keep my forward momentum , and to check for clearances for air intake piping. As soon as I can get to town to get some Tamiya primer I will be painting my wheels and fuel tanks. I should of built a snap kit for my introduction back into the big trucks That Maxi and others are for you Q tip
  4. This is really something, I cant decide which detail catches my attention more .. The license plate covered rear cab, the aircraft seat or that I feel I need to put my coveralls on just to look at the 5th wheel and slider plate.
  5. That is a pretty dang nice build ! The first pic looks to be real . Nice truck in your avatar also Welcome to the fun section of the forum !
  6. Howdy Bill If your building trucks - that is alright with me. Nice avatar !
  7. You ca also make a cheap tanker by using some balsa or light wood to fashion the oval shape for the front and back and maybe a support in the middle. Get a styrene "for sale" sign from the hardware store for the body and wrap it. Front and back can be covered with same material ready for details to be made. Matt- The "Cattle Pots" of today overcast the old Wilson trailers. The Wilsons are pretty small compared to the newer ones.
  8. Very nice - and that paint ring around the front wheel is really sharp !
  9. Dogs are suppose to eat homework not models. Nice looking cab and great idea - would look perfect on a flatbed load.
  10. Looks are deceiving One step forward three back is more like it. Jim - Hope to see you building your kit soon. Finally - Got a transmission for this old gal. Went ahead and painted the engine same as frame - looked at the site on the BJ McKay truck resto and it showed the remains of being red. But maybe "James" painted it. All that was left of the original Cummins 400 was the engine block being held in place by a wooden block. I have noticed that my hand for painting details with a brush is not as steady as it was four years ago when I was still building. Now for the fun of air piping - whose idea was it to replace the kit Detroit with a Cummins anyway
  11. That is my rule of thumb generally
  12. Nice start, are those gauges painted or decals ? They look really good. I like the seat colors - what type of tape are you using to mask with ?
  13. Those posters are nice, thanks for dredging that up to lighten my wallet When I was a teen a friend of mine and I would drive into the city with an old '64 Chevy flatbed with livestock racks and hit all the Class 8 dealerships and grab brochures and anything else we could get our hands on. One guy at the International place gave us two caps to get that truck off his lot.. My friend scored a "Peterbilt" buckle one time - they only had one... I bet we were a sight, that old Chevy, two skinny kids with cowboy hats with brims so wide we could of flown away with a gust of wind Boy those days were fun !
  14. This is a cool looking truck - I love those old round cabs and short hoods. My Dad use to drive a similar truck back in the 60's..
  15. Wow JT - That is just amazing from the front bumper to the taillights. Rookie poles ? - I always used those to bust the chains and cables across roads on job sites
  16. Well I certainly like it, excellent workmanship !
  17. These are a bit on the pricy side but check out sites that have G - Scale Model RR stuff. http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/woo/wooa2549.htm
  18. Very Nice build - that black cab looks like business ! I have so been thinking about getting this kit, now I am convinced.
  19. The worse crime is that Hooker logo debuted on "Toy III" and it was hand painted and designed by Bill himself.
  20. Whoa - that shop is way too clean... There was a shop in Laramie WY I went to pick up a used aftercooler. I was like "oh man I would hate to work here - dirt floor" later a HVY duty tow truck driver & I was talking over coffee one night and I mentioned that shop and dirt floor . He laughed - it was concrete but had never been clean. Man I tell you I had seen floors in barns that were less dirty.. Really liking the teaser of colors and the shop !
  21. Best thing - Don't let the details take over and ruin your fun. I burned my self out of "Pro Stocks & WWII Aircraft" from getting to detail oriented. A few little things here and there which will actually be seen are great. The majority of kits that are finished spend their life on a shelf under the "Two foot Rule" (no one gets closer then that to actually see) Now dont get me wrong - if you want to go all out on a kit and plumb and wire it and add packets of resin and photo etch that is cool - but those are best to be built over time here and there between other projects. (least for me) Keep up the good work and looking forward to your color choice
  22. Just saw this - my room I salvaged the bench from when I disassembled my model rr about 10 years ago.
  23. That is really something ! Very impressive work , and I am blown away with the opening doors.
  24. Yeah you dont seem to have a shortage of orange and black Nice start, I am beginning to think all you have to do is shake the box on this type of kit now and its done !
