  1. I was just reading your thread yesterday asking questions about this kit and now its done - Wow ! That is one sexy looking truck , excellent work even with a few bumps in the road.
  2. What a great idea the Canadians had, sure beats jacking the cab in that nice tropical climate that is known North of the Border. Very nice work !
  3. I like it, is that a '58 cab ?
  4. Nice short trucks Qtip, You could always hide one of those model railroad smoke units in the sleeper and fire up those stovepipes in that KW ! Still working on this - Spent most of last night masking the interior to get it painted. Haven't decided how I am going to paint the blanket yet. If I was high tech and had a printer I would go for a "Pendelton" blanket. Now the hard part painting all the details.
  5. Crud - double post - no one needs an echo
  6. Qtip what a great discovery. There is no stopping you now Mark - those are some beautiful builds.
  7. Nice - and that 3408 looks the business. Somewhere I have a passle of "Big Cat " engine pics..
  8. Hey I just bought one of those today ! I like the looks of it way better then that AMT Ford LN 8000 Race car Hauler.
  9. Those are some other nice builds you have going there. That "Pete" looks like something I would of wanted to build way back. And I like your logging truck - I dont have to set an alarm clock here , every weekday morning I get to listen to a Big 'ole KW come off the mountain full retarder. That first load is always huge logs , most likely "Power pole" picks.
  10. Funny thing about shortening this frame - It is against my beliefs ! I grew up out west where you had forty acres or more to turn a rig. When I was a teen I bought two of the BJ Areo's and stretched the frame and doubled up the sleepers for a real highyway palace. Legos - I love them I cant tell you how many of these bottles I have knocked over when doing work - wearing my Optivisor so I can see. Thanks for looking in and commenting !
  11. That is one tough looking truck - Outstanding job on the winch tower.
  12. I am starting to see red on this build Still need to unmask the other airbags.
  13. For some reason I think a "flaming Jackolantern" on the aero would look really cool on this Nice paint scheme you have done on this one.
  14. Growing up in the late 70's I hated Van kits and Corvettes. That is all you could find to build in the stores ,( I wanted the MPC Pro Stocks) Seems like every tv show had a van or corvette with their logo. I was surprised I never saw one for MASH ! I am sure the molds are still out there somewhere. I will check around with some of my model hoarding friends to see what they have.
  15. They are so useful, I started using them years ago to assist with leveling aircraft wings , Make a small box to hold those tall skinny glue bottles , decal setting solutions ect. Q-tip - thanks for the links and encouragement to jump in the deep side of the pool
  16. You can use a piece of plastic window screen and paint over it to give your floor mat the grid work. I like your reference pic - Accelerator and Clutch polished clean, brake dirty and grimey and stuck to the floor.
  17. Very cool - something about those stretched frames and sleepers. I like your modeling style , just build as you know without hardly the aid of instructions. I would sure hate to fill those tanks up.
  18. You betcha, Although I only removed 48 mm as with the mock up it looked right to my eye. *Disclaimer* I am going for close not exact otherwise I will get to obsessed with details and never get this built. Like my frame shop And your right on the money with your suspicion.
  19. I am more impressed with the frame detail on your kit then I am with the frame on the kit I am working on. That is a beautiful truck - Nice paint scheme. That is an impressive "Ready Line" of Semi's & trailers - is that your family business ?
  20. Those are some seriously talented scratch building skills That is a real fine truck your constructing, I live in logging country and there are still a few of these old rigs out and about with the "Family Loggers". That wood floor is perfect.
  21. First off you guys are a really bad influence. I have spent the last few weeks reading every post in the BIG Rig section between paint drying on a couple of cars I am trying to finish up. The last Semi I built was over 33 yrs ago. A few days ago both these kits arrived from an old friend in a trade. I thought I could resist but nope Somehow I dont remember all those pin marks from way back and I prefer the old white plastic over this gray stuff - it seems softer. That is all for now
  22. I had forgotten about that saying - thanks for the laugh of the day. I remember getting stuck behind those on I-80 through Wyoming. Jim - Nice work , and I like the RLM 62 better also.
  23. That is awesome - Thank you for posting that.
  24. I haven't done any curved semi windshields but a multitude of curved automotive with clear acetate. (Im lazy and hate polishing out scratches) I will use a note-card trimmed roughly to fit on the inside to make a pattern, draw along the inside frame with a mechanical pencil if possible. One the pattern is drawn enlarge it - 3 to 4 mm Is what I start with. Once you have the pattern fitted with a inside lip being big enough for a gluing ridge transfer to the acetate. Here is the secret. "Aleenes Original Tacky Glue" it is a quick drying white glue that will dry clear. Start at a pillar post and work your way around making a small bead with a or little dots by using a toothpick for an aplicator. If you get a little out side of the frame a damp q-tip will clean it off. Once attached you can go back around with same glue and seal all the edges. Don't be discouraged sometimes it takes more then once to get it right Hope that makes sense I forgot - Tamiya tape works really well for holding the windshield in place (center) to get you aligned and started on the glue process.
