  1. Howdy Mark, I can relate to your change of subject. I used "Future" on aircraft models for a decal base and to make canopys crystal clear. For my Automotive finishes I really liked the clear coat marketed by "Boyds" paints but it is really hard to find anymore. Looking forward to seeing your builds.
  2. Add one more to the '79-80 Fan Club This is a Really Nice build !
  3. Russel I am impressed, I remember seeing your Drill rig as my older brother (supplier of most magazines) kept that one as he had plans to build a oil field "work over rig"
  4. Wow That is one beastly truck. That is some really talented modeling you have done on this project. I can hear that pto drive winch gouging right into gear just by looking at it.
  5. How many of you still do this ?
  6. "Johnny Wheels Trucking " that is great ! To bad you were not home you might of scored a ballcap or jacket.. Force - Thank you for that much appreciated information on the kits and conversions. Ok you class 8 experts, can anyone recognize the year and model of this White Freightliner ? That is what happened to me as a teen driving on the Ranch like "Bo Duke" on muddy roads. It would be nice to find a kit to build up like the old Ranch Semi.
  7. Jeff - that is some really nice work, and a great kit. It is good to see something built sporting "Daytons" PS - I use to chase cows all over that part of the country you live in. I remember a Coop, convenience store, watering hole and about 20 houses.
  8. Oh man - I had forgotten about the bingo cards, I was guilty of sending them off too. I kept the mailbox at the ranch full of brochures.. I dont remember Overdrive though, the"lady's" did not interest me at that time of my life. They still had cooties or some such ! Brinx that was a big sticker , I forgot where I stuck mine.
  9. I haven't built a truck in years, are there still W-925 kits available on the market ? Sure would like to build a "Movin On" clone now that I am older and a better modeler. I checked ebay for a BJ McKay Aerodyne and got scared away
  10. Wow - that is really something. If you had this car in a different background I would swear it is real. Very Nice Work !
  11. I like all of them - Is the center Nova the "Old Pro" or the later Revell release ? Nothing wrong with it not being plumbed. Sometimes less is more. Nice builds !
  12. Howdy, Growing up in the late '70's there use to be the best magazines called "Owner Operator" . I started building truck models around the age of 15 and was not happy with out of the box builds. These old magazines had pics of all sorts from interior to engine pics. If you were real lucky sometimes there was a foldout add that featured a truck and you could skillfully cut out the gauges to use in a model. To top it off there was a section dedicated to just model trucks. I spent hrs at the local truckstop with my old 110 camera taking pics of those Highway cadillac's. I had a fair size collection of the magazines until my sister ratted me out for having "junior playboys" due to the pretty ladies often featured with the trucks. So I was made to get rid of them Those were the days, and what I wouldn't give to get my hands on another BJ McKay or Movin On KW. Anybody else remember those old magazines ?
  13. What a beauty, Very nice work !
  14. I really like this , your workmanship is spectacular I always wanted a T-bolt kit.
  15. I have been wanting to start a collection of "Grumpy's Toys" for years. I am not getting any younger and the dust is getting deeper on the donor kits. The kit I am using for Toy II is AMt's 67 Camaro Z-28. Not a bad kit but not the greatest either. First thing to do is remove the door and quarter window trim (1968 option) and give the car the sexy shape it deserves.I used a scribe tool and tape for a guide. Before After Another thing that bothers me about this kit are the seats. Even if the car had the rare option headrest they did not look like this One out of the box - the other after the razor saw and sanding stick I also had to make up a pair of slicks to fit under the factory wheel wells. Finding a donor pair of tires ,a Dremel tool with a sanding stick got the results I wanted. Test fitting the L-88 427 , also used some sheet styrene to fill the channel of the subframe. I have the stance that I want Body in primer Thanks for following along, tips and comments always welcome.
  16. That is an awesome build and very nice work on the engine. Those old Johan kits just cant be beat !
  17. Awesome project ! Those slicks are looking really good. I am in the process of building "Toy III" My Wife got me the book "Grumpy's Toys" for Christmas - I can hardly put it down. It is loaded with info and lots of pics I had never seen before. Trivia - Did you know Grumpy Bill is credited for designing the Hooker Header logo that is still in use today ? It was hand painted on "Toy III"
  18. Tough choice - I am a Big fan of both Jenkins & Sox and Martin. Flip a coin or build them both Currently I am in the process of starting "Toy III" and adding the finishing touches on a S&M Duster.
  19. This is some really fantastic work all the way around. Wow !
  20. What a great job on this build. The old "stockers" had so much more character then the cars of today.
  21. Thanks everyone for looking in and commenting, Danny - Great tip, I will definitely give that a try. Mike the colors are Model Master enamel - Olds Engine Blue 2729 Model Master enamel - Classic White 2720 Model Master enamel -Chrysler Engine Red 2723
  22. Are the tires rubber or hard plastic ? Not sure how you cold successfully pull off flattening rubber tires. I use to put load on aircraft tires by use of a iron and a piece of wax paper (kept the plastic from melting to the iron) By heating them enough to give a slight smooth surface and bulge . Shaping with a sanding stick really improved the look. Perhaps there are some loaded resin tires on the market ? If using the hard plastic tires shaping them with bondo works really well - but dont get to carried away
  23. Nice repair job and the build looks great. In my sick and twisted mind I would of used that body for a build depicting a sneezed blower.
  24. It is always nice to see a model given a second chance , plus it being a '55 chevy makes it even better. Your off to a good start - nice job on the rear wheel radius cuts.
