  1. If you like to have a large stock on hand your best bet is to get it from a plastics supply. I recently bought five 4' x 8' sheets for $86.00. I cut them down to a manageable size. Now I have all the styrene I will need for a very long time.

  3. Thanks for all the replies, now I wont to know what other options came with the Camaro if any, other than the factory air that's in it. Andy I don't need too change trans on the 1:1 Camaro. But I need to change the trans for the model I'm building. You're correct on the crossmember, the 350 is straight and the 400 has a bumpout.
  4. Hey Craig I forgot to mention that I bought this Camaro 12 years ago for reference to build a scale model. It's a project car (not restored). I figured the drive train was correct. I'm very close to finishing it, only to find out that the trans is not the right one. I cant leave it with the wrong trans, and too build a big block would be time consuming, so I'm going to look for a 350 powerglide to scale down. Which means I have too add to the drive shaft. Oh well a little more work wont hurt!
  5. No Craig your not useless, all this info is usefull. I now have a decision too make, either make a 350 powerglide trans, a big block engine or just leave things the way they are.
  6. Thanks for your response on the trans and the seat, I had conflicting answers from different people on the trans. My Camaro has a 350 engine and a TH 400. The Camaro I have has the shifter on the column, so I thought it came with a bench seat in front.
  7. Does anyone know if the turbo 400 trans was an option for the 350 engine or was it for the big block only? And did the 69 come with a bench seat in the front?
  8. Modelmaker, I make prototype models for industrial designers. I did product illustration, photo retouching, and transparency assembly when I was a commercial artist. (before computers)
  9. Outstanding work Dave, as always. Bill
  10. This is the work of a friend who carved wood masters for the model car companies. It's carved from different exotic wood, the wheels and engine are carved from deer antler. He now carves smoking pipes. For some reason the image wont load.
  11. I stopped at Venture Hobbies on my way home from work today, they where closed. The sign on the door read closed Wednesday and Thursday store hours will resume Friday and Tuesday. Not sure what that means, I looked through the window, only the back lights where on, the wall that had plastic kits was empty. I will stop on Friday on my way home.
  12. I will miss Venture Hobbies! I started buying models at Venture Hobbies back in the seventies, back then they were located on Dundee east of Rt. 83. Don is one of the nicest people I know. He would always give you a deal, and help with any questions you had. After he sold the shop he came in 3 or 4 days a month to help out. I spoke with him about 4 months ago at the shop, he told me he misses the people and the conversations, but not the hours. I don't buy kits any more, just supplies. It was a great Hobby Shop for a long time. All good things come to an end.
  13. They are showing up on my end, downloaded again. Bill

  15. If I want to build something, I just do it, money kind of comes in second. In the seventies and eighties I built rc planes and that ran in the thousands. Now I build cars and it still costs thousands. Also many of the materials and tools I buy I can use for many other projects. I like too make my models as accurate as possible, detail, detail, detail. The only way too get accurate detail is to have the actual car, and that costs a lot of $$. I enjoy doing detail work, I don't gamble or drink and my wife dosen't mind too much. Everyone has their amount that they spend, it's all about what makes you happy. Bill
  16. That is very nice work Chuck! It looks very real! Bill
  17. I was a product illustrator, a lot of airbrush work. Also black and white photo retouching and transparency assembly (film stripping). All back in the day before computers. For the past 13 years I'm a model maker for a industrial model shop, making models for industrial designers. Bill
