Mooneyzs replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Hey Brad. I did take this with me when i was in Cali visiting family and didnt have time to work on it. When i get home tonight I will be working on it and will have some pics up later. I will be tapping the other hub as well as getting the rear end narrowed so the tires are tucked under the body like I want them to be. So stay tuned -
Waiting for Rom? Good News !
Mooneyzs replied to Nitrozilla's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am really glad to hear that Rom is ok. Bummer about the laptop though. I have been missing seeing his builds on here. Hopefully it wont be too long before we see him back on here.glad all is well. -
Brett... Nice work on the decals. Thia is looking good man.
-
Brad... Lookong good man!. Hey I have one of those replicas and minitures good year templates for the drag cars. Not sure if it the same radius as your tires but you are more than welcome to try it.

Brad.... This progress is insane and looking killer. Those brakes are looking good. And you have to love the valve stems from RB moton. I have them for the funny car and the detail on them is nice. The parahute loop looks great too. You have blown me away with this build so far and have knocked it out of the park. I can't wait to see it in person again. Looking forwar to seeing the paint on this bad boy

Ok guys I received my new taps and a few items from Micro Mark today, so I was able to sit down for a few and start working on the new hubs. I got one tapped and installed the threads, even added loctite on the studs so there is no way of them coming out. anyway just two pics to show progress from tonight Here is the older set on the left and the new ones on the right, only got one completed and still need to do the other: Then I had to sit the hubs on the disk brake again: -
Mike that body turned out great and looks good to me..nice work bud.

Bart....I hear you about using them if they arent that far off. I would say that these are close enough but think they would be much easier to make the 2nd time round since i already went thru the learning pains on these lol. But I will look at them a little more closely to see how far they are off and if i should do another set or not. -

Bart... Thanks man I think it looks so much better that the blower wont be sitting in the interior once i get this all moved. My headers were some what copied from the kits headers. They do go out at an angle but it may not be as much as in the pic of the real car. I an debatig if i should re do them or not considering i had 30 hours ib these headers alone. So that is up in the air. Looks as if they had just a tad more sticking out of the body as well. Tyrone... Thanks man. I am happy with the stacr now and glad i went back and redid it when I did. Charlie... Thanks Bud on th compliments. I am making progress. It's slow but getting there. -

Ok so I had mentioned that I was going to post a few pics of the actual car and location of the engine. I will post the existing location of the engine and also pics of it in the postion that it will be going to. Again thanks for following along everyone, OK So here is the actual vehicle: Here is the current location of the engine in the model: Here is an up-close shot of the engine and take notice of the header location and window pillar, the front of the headers is lining up with the pillar: Here is the location I will be moving the engine too: Here is the up-close shot and you can see that the rear of the headers lines up with the window pillar just like the actual car: -

Hey Brad... thanks man. I have to tell you that I have been wating to paint some stuff really bad.... Even if its just primer but with the level of detail and out come on this build I was wanting to get most of the fabrication done on it before I shot any primer. This build has even tought me to have more patience than I already have. my biggest piece of advice to people is to take your time and not rush anything. Hey Bob thanks for the compliments on my building skills. I want this build to be the best I have done to date and with the level of detail that I am doing on this, I don't mind that I have to go back and fix it since I want it to be right. And knowing me, I would be upset with myself if I didn't fix it. I just wish I would have noticed some of this stuff before hand but its ok. I love this hobby and I love to build. Thanks for following along with this build. You know my original goal when I started this kit back in March of this year was to have it done by the NNL west in Santa Clara. I am planning on being there and I wanted this one done for it but with the hours I am putting in at work right now for a specific project and having to redo some stuff I am not going to rush this build, so I can't promise that it will be done. But I will bring this build with me even if its not done and display the progress I made to that date. -
Brad....those wheels set this build on fire. They turned out great and i feel make this car stand out even more than it did before. It gives this car the complete look and I love it. Its amazing to me how wheels can change the whole look of the car. Jim does some beautiful work thats for sure. Keep up the great work Brad. I can't wait to see your next update.

Dave42.... Thabks for following along and appreciate your kind comments. You are right about the thought of not changing it, i would probably not be as happy. I dobt really mind the extra work. It has tought me some things for the next funny car build. Sone of those details that I would pay attention to ahead of time. Dave the 3.75" (60" 1:1) dimension is going to be what i am working too. The existing or what i should say what i was working to was a dimension of 3.25" (52" 1:1). Thank you for letting me know that i am in the ballpark with the 60". I have appreciated all of your help so far in this. I am sure i may have some more questions for you lol. Thanks again -
