  1. John.... this is a great looking build. you always have me wondering what you are going to build next. Thanks for sharing with us, I always enjoy your builds. You are already hitting this one out of the park.
  2. Bart... you are right about having a little more play money when I am finished. I will try and get little build time in here and there during the next couple weeks. I am gonna need it as a stress reliever. Greg... Thanks Mate!! This has been fun so far with all of the little extra details I have been putting in. I have a few more details to add to the master cylinder, I haven't had time to go pick up some small o-rings that I will end up using as boot covers on the master cylinder. You will just have to wait and see. I will also make sure and package this thing up real good for ya when I send it your way.... I think I am going to have to get a really nice case for this one when its done or just make one. Virgil... Thank you!!
  3. Darryl.... this is just amazing and totally cool. Very nice work on this. I really enjoy seeing your builds. Keep up the great work.
  4. Wayne... Great work on the paint. It sure is looking great can't wait to see the decals and clear on this bad boy. Looking forward to seeing the chassis you have started on too. Keep up the great work.
  5. Thanks Brad, yeah bummer on hours but you are right that I need to be able to fund this hobby some how lol. At this point I am happy that I am hourly and get OT. Lol
  6. Thanks Danno.... You know I wish I could have this done in time for Goodguys.... the sad fact is that I am having to start back up on 60 to 80 hours a week for work for the next few months. Which doesn't make me too happy and not looking forward to it since its going to cut into my model building time. And I don't know if I will be able to make it out to Goodguys this year since I will probably be working 6 days a week.
  7. I was able to sit down for a few tonight and finish working on the Master Cylinder bracket and got it glued to the chassis..... Not a big update but all I worked on tonight for a few Here is the Master Cylinder Bracket, I added a few holes and got the side panels to shape: And here it is after getting it glued to the chassis and I am letting it sit overnight so that the glue will dry well:
  8. Derrick.... you are welcome on showing you some of my technique's, My biggest piece of advice for you is have patience and take your time, I think you are on the right path with concentrating on the fundamentals. Feel free to ask any questions.
  9. I cant wait to see the paint on this. It is going to be gorgeous with a bright orange and those decals. I think its going to look killer!
  10. Darryl....this is flat out gorgeous. This turned out great. How long did ths take to build? Any pics with the hood off or front clip off? Nice job on this.
  11. Paul I can't believe that we are just a month away from Thanksgiving. Hoping I can get alot done between now and then.
  12. Wayne... that is looking great! Nice job on closing up the wheel wells. Its looking good in primer. This is going to be a great build.
  13. That is totally cool. If I had the extra money I would consider but with a 8 grand price tag.... yeah out of my reach...lol That make a mini lathe and mill look much more reasonable.
  14. Hey Keith... This is going to be an awesome build man. I think it is totally cool how this kit was your dads. I would def. do what Brad suggestes. scan the instuctions or make copies of them and put the other one in a safe place. I look forward to seeing this come together. Going to be a great build.
  15. Scott....Thanks man Bob... Thanks man. you are right about treating each little piece as a model of its own. I am excited about this master cylinder, its turning out better than I thought. As far as the Aluminum panels, I am planning on painting them like the pictures. Niko.... you are welcome.... they are worth their money. Brad.... I picked them up from Hobby Depot in Tempe. They were about $20.00 Bart.... As Brad mentioned it is a little bit thinner than the tin plate. It is really easy to work with too and bends nicely as well. Paul... Hey Buddy Great to see you back here again. Sounds like you had a blast at Bakersfield. Yeah man you need pick that glue up and start building again... thanks for the compliments. I will have to bring this project up when I come home over Thanksgiving and Christmas to show you and your dad.
  16. Those are awesome and look great Paul!!
  17. Hey Keith... Thanks man!! You know I never thought about dimpling the holes so the Dzus fasteners will sit flush. I may have to try it on a sample piece. I probably won't roll the top piece of the tins over the frame like the 1:1. I made the Tins stop a little short of the top of the tube. Not sure if that makes sense but I didn't want the tins to sit higher so I decided to have them sit a little lower. Gabriel.... I believe what you are seeing is where the bottom section of the tins that wraps around the side. I took the photo and changed the contrast and balance so it can be seen a little better.... I did a little more tonight and started working on the Master Cylinder for the brakes. looked at some different pics that I had and decided to scrap the kits master cylinder and scratch build my own, along with a mounting bracket that it will attach too. Here is the kit master cylinder and cover on the top and the bracket, master cylinder and top that I scratch built: Here I stuck the top onto the master cylinder and I will be using RB Motion rod end links that will attach to the brake lever as well as some Scale Hardware T2M simulated slotted screws for the top:
  18. Tyrone... Detail is looking great as always. You do nice work my friend. You are doing a great job on this build. Love every update.
  19. I have to agree with Wayne here. Every update the Details just get insane. Man you are doing some great work on this. That rear end is goregous with all of the work you have put into it. I can't wait to see more of this build. You are hitting it out of the park on this one. Nice job.
  20. Ok so here are the actual updates on the car.... I decided to redo the fuel hold down strap since I wasn't happy with the original one It, it was off somehow. So I started by drawing the pattern out on the printing plate and started cutting: Once I finished cutting out and bending took a pic of it on the fuel tank with old one next to it: Got the holes drilled in the Bottom Plate of the Driver area: Now time to get back to the build and work on the master cylinder mounting bracket and then not sure... maybe motor mount tabs, guess I will see what calls my name to work on next.... lol Thanks for looking
  21. So I have made a little more progress this afternoon... Niko... here is the Photo-Etch bending pliers from Tamiya that I use to bend thin metal and photo-etch parts: Here is a sample piece that I bent: Here it is after taking of the pliers...sorry that the pic didn't turn out well. camera focused on wrong area: Here is a pic of the substrate I had put the Printing plate on to do the bead rolls on, Its just a hard rubber not sure what the Durometer is of the material but i want to go back to Lowes and pic up some more. this is a small piece which I have cut from that I use for sanding blocks too:
  22. Bart.... Thanks man.... and to answer your question on the bottom plate it will actually go over like you see in my pics. If you take a look at the fist pic on this page its how it is on the real car for the finished look. The substrate was a harder black rubber. I will post a pic. Thanks Tyrone.... Got some updates in a sec once the pics finish uploading on Photobucket... Brad.... Thanks Brad, I am learind that the printing plate is really easy to work with. Thanks again for some of it. Yea you are correct on the pic of the 1:1 for that panel piece under the headers. I have looked at that trying to figure out what they did. I can't tell if that piece is a seperate piece or if there is a slight bend in it and from what I can see there is only 1 Dzus fastener in that plate. So I keep going back and forth if I should cut that front piece of and make a 2 Piece panel. what to to what to do.
  23. Good Moring Fellas.... Niko... Thanks man... Those bends were done with a Tamiya Poto-Etch bending pliers. I will get a pic of the pliers to show you. One day I was at one of the local hobby shops I go to and happened to see them. I had to get them and give them a try. They work great and would recommend to anyone. Charlie... Thanks Bud!!... yeah I was a little nervous when I did start to apply the bead at first. I made one sample and wasn't as happy as I could have been with it. so I started over. then on my next set i just went slow with the bead using a little lighter pressure and running over it a few more times than I did previously. Its really not that hard but what I did find was it just depends on the substrate you put under the metal when you form it. Joe... LOL.. there is alway a little pressure. if I don't make it right the first time, I end up redoing the part.... sometimes 2 or 3 time....
  24. Hey Rom.... Where you been?? Haven't seen you post in a while and making sure everything is ok.
  25. Wanye that is going to be a sweet paint job. Nice job on the graphics for this.
