-
Dave you out did yourself with this build. It is Gorgeouls and the Detail is amazing. Many people have already said alot of what I would. You are another one of the master builders here in my opinion. I look forward to what you have in store for us next. I know it will be good.

Wayne you have posted some nice builds of Daryls. Any chance that you may have pictures of the chassis's without the body on these Super Gas Roadster's. I am asking because I am planning on doing a super gas roadster build one of these days and have only been able to find minimal chassis pics when I had searched the internet so far. Thanks

Brad and Derrick.... a Big thanks goes out to both of you. I feel these headers are a little bit of a milestone with how much work went into them. Very glad how they turned out and you probably won't belive me but as they sit I have 28-1/2 Hours into them between all of my trial and error on bending the tube as well as figuring out the best way to do these. I will be really happy when I have them completely ready for primer, then I probably won't want to work on another set of header for a while.... But I have no regrets with how I am wanting this build to turn out, the time I put into them is all worth it and would do it again. -

Well I was able to finish the other header. Got it all Soldered up and they are almost done. All I have left to do is to shape the solder around the flanges and then they will be done. I am really happy with how they turned out. Just have to be a little more patient with some filing and sanding, then they will be ready for some primer. Thats all I was planning on doing tonight so only have one picture to share with everyone. The Headers completed after Soldering: -

After I completed making my jig, I had to test it out and see how the tubing would lay in place: Here is a pic of the kit header next to the one I soldered (on top) and on the bottom I will be soldering that one tomorrow after work: Here is an up-close pic of the header. I am still in the process of cleaning the header up. I need to file and sand some of the solder around the flange and tube joints as well as cut the tubing flat to the back of the header flange and sand flat: I am feeling really happy with the results that I got from deciding to make these out of brass tubing. I think it is a big improvement from the kit headers. until tomorrow.... -

John... Thanks for the compliments, especially coming from one of master builders on this message board, it means alot Well I was able to to get my jig build tonight. I used some Bass Wood and some Balsa Wood to make it and glued it with super glue. Not much more to say other than I worked on it pretty much all evening. I was able to get one of the headers soldered tonight and figured that I would finish the other one tomorrow since I need to get to bed and get some rest. anyway here are a few pics.... Thanks for looking I started out with figuring out where I wanted my pieces glued and cut my balsa pieces: Next, I glued my angle pieces to my base plate with super glue: After that I glued the long piece and the pieces that would hold the header flange in place: -

John this is going to be one heck of a build buddy. I love the idea of making a convertible.... in my mind it looks like a speedster with how you are going with it. Those rims are just Sweet and totally fit the look you are going for. I love that you have opened the trunk and opened the doors. I can't wait to see this masterpiece come together. I have one of these kits that I am planning on building here soon.... well gotta get that funny finished as well as the FEDn I have going. But I have some plans for a '49 Merc in the near future. What brand are the turned aluminum wheels, they are awesome! I look forward to seeing progress on this. -

Thanks Richard! Well I have been working more on this today while watching football and making good progress. I have got all of the fabrication on the raw pieces completed and now all I have to do is make my jig and solder it together. Feels good to have these headers just about completed, I odn't know if I want to know how many hours I have in these...lol Actually I do since I have been tracking my time on this build. Here are some more pics to show you..... Cutting my header flanges down to get them to the correct size and shape: Here is the flanges after they have been cut and sanded to shape: Drilling holes in the flanges for the bolt heads: All holes in the flanges have been drilled and time to transfer drill holes into the engines heads: Holes have been drilled into heads and bolts have been put into place to mock up: Alright, time for me to get back to the workbench and work on the jig and get these bad boys completed.... Stand By.... -

Hello everyone! I was finally able to get back at this build today. Felt good to be back at the workbench and put some time into this build today. I pretty much focused on the headers all day. I can't tell you how many times I had to rebend tubing cause I kept having issues with it today. I am happy with what I got accomplished. I still need to build a jig to hold it when I solder it together. I also got flanges made which they aren't done yet, still going to cut it down to shape and drill holes in it for bold heads. All the tubes are bent and ready: Flanges started and still need to be finished, will cut it down to the shape I want as well as drilling holes for the bolts:
