  3. Guys, thanks again for all of the kind words. It is much appreciated. I am hoping to be able to lay the final clear coat down this weekend. I think its supposed to rain tomorrow but hoping if it does that we have nice weather on sunday and will clear it then. Jim... the kit that I used for this build was Revells Ed "the Ace" McCulloch's Otter Pops olds funny car Kit # 7490.... here's a couple of pics of the box...
  4. Hey John I totally understand about not having a way to get there. Maybe next time. I will have to keep my eyes open on some shows in southern Cali. Will get to meet you one of these days and see your stuff in person. Those wheels look great with the weathering you done.
  5. John...Very nice build my friend. I love it. I am currently building the 1/16th scale Army Funny Car myself Love the Don Prudhomme figure. Detail looks great and the paint looks nice. I was trying to figure out which blue I was going to use for the funny car. Maybe I will get to see at the Desert Scale Classic if you are able to make it out. oh yea did you paint the rims with Alclad?? Thanks for sharing with us.
  6. Thanks Dan. Will see you next week

  11. Thanks Aaron! Looking forward to seeing you at the DSC
  12. I have finished all of the decals and it's ready for one last coat of clear to seal in the decals. Then once the clear is done just need to paint the inside of the body black and glue the front nose onto the chassis. Here is the model fully decaled:
  13. Little update for everyone. I got the body color sanded with 1000 grit paper and ready to shoot more base on it. Picked up some new purple today because what I had used was contaminated and bad. I also have mocked up some decals that I will be putting on the car. Not going wild with the decals but just enough to add to the model. Here is what it looks like mocked up with decals:
  14. I have to agree with the others here that you would want to fill in tail light area with plastic to get the rough shape. I would probably just glue the tail light in myself sand it with some 220 grit or even 180 to rough it up to give the filler something to grab onto. Lay your Mud (body filler) after you have mixed it up good. Then start sanding. Here is the Body Filler I have been using for years. I also have friends that use the bondo brand.
  15. Hey Tim did you used to go to Riverside Hobbies when you were in Sacramento. That was the place I hit up when I was going to College there I had gotten some cool stuff back in the day there.
  16. Well Shoot been having issues with photobucket not uploading my pics. Keep getting a network error. Must be a problem on photobuckets end, they did have it down last night for maintenance for a few.....I blame that
  17. Mike this is a beautiful Build. The car looks great. Nice job on this. By chance did you get any pics with the body off?? would love to see some of the detail of the chassis. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see your next build.
  18. Thanks Niko!! Yeah you don't see many Super Comp cars. On my to do list has been a Super Comp Dragster for years. I have acquired some of the parts but I was planning on scratch building the chassis and doing a detailed build of it. I think it would be fun and different as well. I will have some pics up soon with the finished Decals. Finally picked out the spot for the class & car number. Thanks with those who helped with the suggestions
  19. I haven't a clue what this thing is
  20. Look forward to this build. I recently picked this kit up this week and am planning on getting a set of decals from slixx for it. Its a nice kit.
  21. very nice!! Count me in with the others that would like to see a how to on this.
  22. Thanks Derrick. I can't wait to get a few decals on this one too. I am a little ticked at myself for burning thru the clear but I had trouble with the purple base. not sure if the paint was contaminated and it didn't lay down like it normally does and since I knew I was going to decal it, I only shot 2 coats of clear but was not totally happy with the finish becasue of the base. I needed to color sand before decaling so it was smooth. anyway I will get it fixed and look like new again
  23. WOW!!! This turned out Fantastic my friend. It is another beautiful build. Love the detail and the extra components you added in the pics. Nice work John
