  2. Thanks again guys! Well I think I have decided that I am going to put the number decal on the side of the scoop. Now I am just trying to think of the number I want to go with. Then I am hoping to clear the model once more to seal the decals in this weekend.
  3. Very Cool Model. that thing looks great!
  4. I did a little more work on this tonight. I color sanded the clear and have a few spots that I burned thru the clear and will go back and shoot some more of the purple base on it and it will be good to go. Here is what the body looks like after being color sanded:

this a Very Nice Build. Love it. I have a couple of Tamiyas 2002 WRX's that I want to buld. The paint is beautiful. Keep up the great work.

  10. Thanks Paul, yeah would be nice to bring it up. Maybe I will be able to hit NNL west with ya this next year Charlie, thanks man. Haven't done much more to it than you see here. I spent the weekend working on the FED...lol
  11. Tyrone that engine looks nasty in there. is it a Ross Gibson engine. Chassis looks great painted and front end is coming together well.
  12. This is going to be a great build. John can't tell you enough, I enjoy your builds and am sure this is going to look great. its off to a great start.
  13. Stump, This is going to be a great build and I really like where this is heading so far. Maybe this will be some inspiration for my 1/12th scale Camaro that I have had in the closet for years . Can't wait to see the progress on this one.
  14. I love the chop and that green you laid down on the model. Looks great. I was going thru some stuff and found an old '49 that I started at least 15 years ago. anyway thought I'd share the chop that I did. I chopped the top 3/16" of an inch and took out 1/2" from the lenght of the body. I saw a '49 like this in an old Hot rod magazine and was trying to make something like it at the time. anyway here are a few pics:
  15. Brett... Thanks man, Now I need to do some color sanding, lay some inner coat clear down, pick out a few decals to decal it and then clear it again. Color sand one final time and polish. Lots of elbow grease involved
  16. Paul, We never owned this car. The driver of this car was Steve San Paolo and my dad used to help wrench on their top Alcohol back in the mid 70's to mid 80's the car was the Spaghetti Bender. The mom and pop toy store/hobby shop I used to work at from when i was 16 til I was 20, I got to know a guy that would always come in and we were talking about this FED I was building and he told me he had a bunch of pics he could bring in for me and he did then after finding out that Steve was driving it. Was pretty cool and a small world.
  17. This is so cool and looks great so far can't wait to see more progress on it.
  18. Here are pics of it after the clear had time to dry for a about 8 hours. All of the parts pulled off the make shift holders used for painting: Parts around driver compartment: Front of car: Mocked up to get an idea what it all looks like together: Front end graphics line up nice and was very pleased with it: The Driver area again:
  19. Well after a very long afternoon, evening, then night I finally finished the paint job on this. I first had issues with my air brush not spraying right and when I started using my Mini Detail gun, realized that it wasn't cleaned as well as it should when I last used it so had to reclean that. I pratically ran out of silver base, then the main color I don't know what was wrong with the base but it seemed like it was contaminated by the way it was spraying. I noticed something funny when I was just mixing it in the can but though well I will try an shoot it anyway and I had the clear run in a few spots which I will color sand out and reclear..... It was one of those days painting when everything could go wrong it did... After spraying the silver base I taped off my graphics: Sprayed the first graphics color yellow: Next was spraying the Molly Orange graphics: Then it was time for the Ultra Violet Poly Base: Pulled all of the tape off to get ready to clear the body:
  20. Very nice and clean build. Looks great. Now where is the switch for the air bags so it can lay frame Great Build you have there.
  21. Great start for this build. I will be watching it for sure. he does have some nice stuff I might say. I have the other 1/16th scale Engine he makes . Can't wait to see updates on this. But I understand about findind more reference pics and gathering more parts
  22. This new stance is just Nasty looking... I love it. Keep up the great work and oh yea... More pics Please.....
  23. Richard, I am sorry hear that about the job. I feel your pain about being umemployed. I myself got laid off the beginning of january this year and just started some contract work 2 weeks ago. I am really keeping my fingers crossed that this rolls into a full time position with this company. I went thru this same thing in December of 2009 being let go the 5th round of layoffs after I was with an aerospace company for 5 years. Its definitely tuff out there with the job market. Mike. Thanks man I will have to email Mark Johnson to see if he can send me pics of the engine and cost for them. ok I haven't done a whole lot on this kit since my focus has been on decaling my super comp altered and getting my 1/16 FED painted this past week. anyway I decided to add a little more detail to the kits rear end from a pic that I found that the aurora kits were based from.
  24. here is a teaser pic of the paint so far. I was actually having trouble with my air brush spraying this after noon cleaned it about 4 times got upset with it and pulled out my Devilbiss mini detail gun to squirt the paint...lol Ok so all I have done so far is lay down the HOK orion Silver base and 2 coats of inner coat clean. I am currently waiting for the inner coat clear to dry so I can then tap off my graphics and will start spraying those colors. here is where its at now:
