If You Work with House of Kolor
Mooneyzs replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
You are welcome Virgil, btw I love your builds and posts, you have a talent man. I am using PPG Deltron Concept 2020 (DCU2020) which they don't make this anymore but they make a DCU2021 now. They are a Urethane Clear. Here is a pic of the clear, hardner and reducer: -
If You Work with House of Kolor
Mooneyzs replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Virgil.... Thanks for the Great tutorial man, that was a really good video. I personally have always used PPG's basecoat/clear coat paints... DBU and DBC and love them. Just ordered a bunch of HOK airbrush sized paints and reducers. Going to be shooting a 1/16th scale Front Engine Dragster today, in which I will have pics of the paint up on my post later in the drag racing section. I have to share where I got my paints just cause I found that they had a great price and are paints directly from House of Kolor and not pre-mixed or repackaged by pouring from a quart size can to smaller sized bottles. But another source for the HOK paints is from Smart Shoppers Inc.com. Prices are very resonable... $11.50 for a 4oz air brush bottle of paint. -

Thanks for the information Richard. I really appreciate it and I will check those companies out. Just noticed that you are in Tuscon. will you be making it up for the Desert Scale Classic on April 16th in Phoenix??. I picked up a more modern engine from Flashpoint which was going to be for another build and I have some parts from Competition Resin. They are really nicely done resin kits. -
Scott... thanks man for the kind word. I appreciate it and it means alot. I sometimes go with the less is more. I have seen on many real cars that to be the same. clean and simple is what I was going for with this build. Wish i would of gone with different fuel lines, other than that I am very happy with this build. Its actually nice to have completed this since it was started 14+ years ago been sitting in primer just waiting for the right color and decals...lol Ben.... Send the truck to come and pick it up, and it could be on your shelf

Richard, I think I will have to go and order that kit now. -
Monte.... thanks man. I really like the idea of attaching it to the back of the roll cage. I am going to be looking at maybe making a bracket and attaching it there.
-
Very cool idea, I am going to have to seal that and try that for mock up sometime. Thanks for the tip any certain brand? Krystal Klear ok from Micro scale?
-
Very cool Find. that thing is awesome

Thanks Bradley..... I was trying to go simple and clean for this build Aaron....thanks on the compliments. you know I kept thinking about doing the number decal, just wasn't sure where I should put it. you may have a good idea about putting it on the side of the scoop. one other thought was making a small flag so to speak that the numbers mount to in which mounts to the top of scoop?? so it would be standing vertical on top. Hope I described it enough for you to visualize. Look forward to meeting you at the DSC.

Ben... thanks man. you know I have been debating on going a few different routes for the engine. Now with this aurora Donovan engine you are talking about is it the same as the Competition resins 417 Donovan Kit? I have been wanting to pick one of them up. Actutally just took a look at it again and its got the valve covers I am wanting for this build. Caine... Thanks man.... I am planning on working on it this weekend and hopefully have more pics to share with everyone. I have been finishing up decaling a Super Comp Altered build tonight and should be squirting some paint on my 1/16th FED project. -

As the others have mentioned here, I keep mine in the freezer and when I need it, I pull it out let it defrost and its ready to use. When done put back in freezer. -
