  1. This may sound like a radical approach to what you want, but I'll try to explain it clearly. Years ago, I wanted the "Burtex" type pattern for the trunk mat of a '55 Ford Victoria hardtop I was building. No one offered that pattern in a decal so I had tried to come up with something clever. I went online and found a supplier who makes that trunk mat, and copied the pattern image on my hard disc. I then put that image on my desktop background and "tiled" it so that it showed up many times in a grid type pattern. This was after I shrunk the pattern down to what I thought would look in scale for the model. I then went into Windows Accesories (I was using Vista then), and opened up their Snipping Tool. I did a screen shot of the entire desktop background, and then saved this as a .JPG file into the folder of the model I was working on. I then retrieved that image out of the folder, and printed it on plain white paper which captured the pattern very well. To simulate the vinyl look of the mat, I simply taped over the printed paper with clear box tape (it's quite wide) and that would give you that semi shiny look that the mats had. I don't have pics of the pattern as the model was put away. A major bodywork boo-boo on my part had me lose interest in the building of it, so it sits packed away in a box among the tons of other models I have. It was a little involved, but you may be able to try a similar approach to the seat pattern you want if all else fails. Hope this helps!
  2. Gorgeous!!
  3. It can snow three feet here after today! After 1 PM this afternoon, I'm off work and don't go back till January 3rd!!
  4. Doug, you know I'm watching this!
  5. Magda was the older sister (I think) that stayed pretty much out of the limelight. And yes, Eva Gabor in Green Acres was HILARIOUS!! There were some scenes from certain episodes that were an absolute scream!
  6. Thanks for the offer Mike! However, I do have two others that I can use sometime to rebuild. Both are complete, just taken apart with very slight glue damage in their original issue boxes. I also have a complete kit in the later Johan box, but the body is somewhat warped. Heaven knows when I'll get around to building another Turbine Car------that can be a tough kit to get together as you know, and is certainly a patience tester!
  7. No, actually I finished the Mustang late last year as I have pics on my hard drive that are dated October 2015. I do remember putting it in local show also around this time last year.
  8. McDonald's food (especially after I've lost 110 lbs) makes me absolutely ill now! A couple bites of the "Chicken McNuggets" and I'm throwing out the whole order it tastes so bad to me.
  9. Ahhh Ok! That's one that never seems to show up on the 'Bay. If it does, get out your wallet which might be screaming! EDIT: I want to say ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL '59's Steve!!
  10. Yikes! Getting things wrong as far as how they should be named or spelled can spell DISASTER where I work! Just goes to show the selfish nature of folks in the workplace. How hard is it to look something up to see how it should be spelled/named??
  11. Thanks guys! Though I have to say that BMW was no joke as it was one of THE TOUGHEST out of the box builds I've ever done! I don't want to tackle that one again anytime soon!
  12. They can be hard to get at reasonable prices too! That's when/if they show up on eBay which isn't as often as it used to be. Deals can be had though if one is patient and keeps looking.
  13. Man I just LOVE that '55!! That is an excellent color for that!!
  14. I never have prolific years when it comes to building, so I can't really complain as it's better than past years when I can remember getting ZERO done. Just the same, here are the two I at least finished this year........... 1959 Chevy Impala....... 1990 BMW 850i............. Hopefully '17 will be just a bit more productive! Well, that might be wishful thinking but at least I know I'll get that Shelby done-------well I WANT to get it done before the end of '17! Here's hoping that next year there are no health troubles on my end to slow me down. The vision issues still persist at times, but at least things haven't gotten any worse compared to the middle of this year.
  15. Yeah Mark, the Rambler wagon I have unfortunately has a broken front bumper. It was one of the things I meant to include in the last order I made with The Modelhaus but forgot. Now unless someone, someday takes over what they had I'll have to either live with it, or remake that corner where it's damaged on my own.
  16. Let's see what I got here on that list............ 1958 Oldsmobile 1957 Oldsmobile (In pieces) 1959 Dodge (kit form) 1963 Turbine Car (albeit built in kit form) 1969 AMX 1958 Cadillac 1959 Plymouth (two of those) 1959 Cadillac (busted up built up ) One that's not on that list but was in the mid '80's which I have is the '68 Chrysler 300 convertible, and a 1966 Rambler station wagon. That list takes me down memory lane! Long before I was into computers and the internet-------ordered what was on the list, and patiently waited.
  17. Some comments I've seen on other boards (not necessarily here), I've found to be simply unreadable! The grammar and sentence structure is that bad!
  18. Very, very nice Ray! As far as the door lines go for the decals, you might try laying an Exacto blade along the groove of the door line and very carefully score the decal. After that, slowly flow in some decal setting solution and when that's dry, take a sharpened pencil and "draw in" the lines along the groove. If you're nervous about all of that, I wouldn't sweat it, as it looks fine as is.
  19. I have one of these as a non painted builder in the original annual box. I've always like this car (actually I like the same era Toro a little better) and I truly wish the car makers would go back to the rear drive proportions that these cars had, yet they were front drive. I cringe when I see some of the cars on the road today with their way-too-close placement of the front wheels to the leading edge of the doors. Something I hate as more than likely the front wheelwells are imposing on the foot wells in the interior, and when you're over 6 ft as I am and wear a size 15 shoe-----that stands for an uncomfortable drive/ride on a long trip! I'd say that this car was probably one of Bill Mitchell's best, as he was very much responsible with the end result of how this car appeared. Yeah, if you can get one of these Johan kits at a reasonable price (built or unbuilt) grab 'em if you can. You can best believe that there will never be a modern glue kit of this car seen on the hobby shelves!
  20. WOW!! TERRIFIC job on this! This makes me miss my '65 I had many years ago............fun car! Why oh why this car has never been done in a full glue kit escapes me, but I do have AirTrax's resin of this one.
  21. Looks great Pat! Digicams can do strange things with metallic paint. I've always liked the looks of these cars, and it's amazing with the new roofline change for '62 how it changes the character of the Hawk. Yet it was the same basic car going back to '53. The garage dio pic is a good one..............looks right at home parked there!
  22. I don't wanna see anymore snow after what we had to deal with not quite a year ago! It snowed thirty inches here this past January 16th (Central PA), and frankly if it didn't snow like this for another 30-40 years, that would be fine by me!
  23. On that quiz, I bet most young people in school today couldn't answer those questions when it comes to civil government. Why?? Because Civics for the most part isn't taught in school anymore. Witness what we just saw in the news what folks were doing after our election here. I don't want to turn this into a political skunk spraying match, I'm just stating what to me was VERY obvious. Please no flame wars over this...........but what the OP started this thread with makes a lot of sense. And no, I couldn't answer all the questions either on that quiz, and I consider myself to be reasonably "smart".
