  1. I'm sayin' real on this one! I see several HUGE giveaways------which I don't want to say until Friday. It has to do with......................
  2. If folks thought the original '59 Cadillac was wild.........they would have been absolutely blown away by what might have been the final design of the '59 models. The fins at one design point were actually taller than the roof!! I'd imagine this was ultimately rejected because of a severe blind spot caused by those fins. One reason the Cadillac looked the way it did was GM did not like being outdone by Chrysler's '57 models. Original designs for the 1959's were nothing more than warmed over '58's---------but GM being absolutely stunned by Chrysler's '57 models in the late summer of '56, sent the designers scurrying back crushing, and tearing up everything they had for '59 and starting over. The first designs for the '59's were done by Buick and everyone else worked around Buick's door. That's why all of GM's '59's have such wild fins-----------if you check out each of the divisions for '59, they all have about the same shape doors leading into extravagant soaring fins.
  3. Chris, that looks great with those wheels and tires! That kit begs for thinner profile tires since the kit ones aren't quite correct IMO. I built one using the rear tires out of C6 Corvette kits-------------looks much closer to stock for an SRT. Keep up the great work!
  4. I remember this car!! Absolutely beautiful!! Here's your pics Dave.................this is way too nice to be left to a link! Cruz, yours is coming along fantastic!! Yeah, that BMF can be a pain for cars of that era................but where would we be without it!
  5. You've confirmed by my previous post why I'll NEVER buy or rent a place without off street parking again! I absolutely hate having to argue over a parking space because one house might have four cars!! In fact, the local town here passed an ordinance years ago--------they want anyone restoring a house to NOT turn it into an apartment building UNLESS they can provide off street parking. Too many issues with parking in weather like this when one person in an apartment, might have three cars!
  6. Fellas, for those of you wondering............Here's the link.
  7. HRM (Harold Bradford) does a Cheetah--------very, very nice for what you get! A correct uptop for the new '72 Olds Convertible would be a nice addition......................
  8. This'll be interesting! Before you get too far, I'd seriously consider adding a "lip" around the perimeter of the entire hatch area, including those oh so thin rear pillars! Nothing more frustrating than to have those suckers snap each time you flex the body for something.
  9. Thanks for posting that Harry! That'll come in handy down the road.
  10. Well, the main drag through town where I live is completely snow free as far as the road is concerned. However, now they're telling us that the "budget" for clearing any more snow has now dried up---------that means folks who live on the smaller streets and alleyways, may not get their streets cleared at all! So much for the town coffers being "at the ready" for handling this stuff! As I mentioned in another post, I get the feeling that this ain't the last of it----------we still have the the rest of this month and all of March to deal with!
  11. I've got Harold Bradford's excellent resin kit of this car as well, and I recently just sold a Gunze one on Feebay. I'd like this one just the same as I'm curious as to how they handle the mechanicals--------will it be full detail or strictly a curbside? Beautiful car though for a design over 45 years old!
  12. George, here ya go.................... I did a screen capture of the catalog...........it's certainly there!
  13. Ha! That looks a lot like this area here around this time in 1969. IIRC, that was a MAJOR storm that struck the east coast and left many cities literally paralyzed for DAYS! I was in the Second/Third grade then and I can remember being out of school the entire week into the next! Ahhhhh those were the days!
  14. Here's a 30 sec. video clip I uploaded on YouTube at the height of the storm. This was taken out my front door while I was able to get it open! Click to see it.
  15. Hmmm............Funny how Al Gore has dropped out of sight amidst all of this. I've heard every other talking head ramble on about "climate change" except the main one who's perpetrated that crock!
  16. George the fellow running the Bobcat owns a business that's right next door to me--------thus the trailer and tanker you see right behind my property. He needed to clear out that area so he can get the other trucks there that come on the property from time to time. A real nice guy he is as he didn't have to touch the area behind my place at all. When I first saw this house, the first thing I remember asking the agent: Did I have to park on the street or could I park behind the house? Her answer hinged on whether or not I would take the house--------she said yes, because the former owners parked their cars in the back all the time. I told her she's got a sale because I KNOW how nasty snow can be here, and nothing's worse than neighbors arguing over parking spaces after this much snow! Not to mention other places where I've lived years ago when cars I've owned in the past have been hit sitting there on the street. One of them was my beloved '69 AMX------that's when I decided I would NEVER rent or own a property again that had on street parking!
  17. Hi Jason, I started a thread about basic model building, and I focused on sanding and getting rid of ghosting--------------if you click here, it'll take you to the original thread of what you're dealing with. I haven't added anything to it of late due to burnout, but because of all the crazy snow we've had lately, it's lit a fire under me to get working on it again. Hope it helps!
  18. I hope this is the last of the major storms for this winter! I haven't seen this much snow since our nasty winter here of 1996 when a part of a local bridge was taken out by house sized ice. Here are some pics of what I had to deal with at the back of house------------I wasn't even thinking of the front of the house until much later in the day. Ever since the really nasty winter of 1996 here in Central PA, I've not been a big fan of snow. All that white just reinforces why I've come to dislike it so much! The fellow in the background in the mini backhoe helped me clear away some of the snow......thank goodness as I'd still be trying to clear it away! I think that lump is my car! Uggggh...........to have to find a place to put all that! My neighbor's minivan all but buried! Some of the snow was drifted, but most of what you see is what's fallen in just the past week alone! Finally after over an hour, I was able to get my car out...........I haven't even got to the front of the house at this point yet! The fellow with the backhoe just piled what he could against the fence and created a mini mountain. It'll be lovely when it all starts to melt! My sump pump in the basement will be working overtime for sure! At least I've gotten out of my modeling slump somewhat because of all this snow. I've been able to get back to work on the stalled Merc-------I've got the interior all but done. Haven't been to work since Monday night so the unexpected vacation has been kind of a plus. I just hope this is it, but I got a feeling it isn't..................
  19. It's nice to see what to me is a bad kit and turning it into something really nice! It's been said before, but Revell missed the boat big time with this one. I was there at the NNL East when Revell had the test shot on the table as I took pics. The rep was there (can't remember his name) and I remember telling him that they still didn't get the car's shape right. He just shrugged his shoulders and said "Oh Well". Well sure enough the kit was released with those same funky proportions I saw on the test shot. My wallet also said "Oh Well" as I wouldn't buy it. Keep up the great work! Hopefully before we're all too old to build, someone will do the 1:1 car justice and kit a state of the art 1970-71 'Cuda!
  20. For straight stripes, I highly recommend Tamiya tape! The clear stuff is Parafilm..............great for masking off larger areas that you don't want to be oversprayed.
  21. X3 on the Badger Crescendo! I've had mine since 1994 and the only things I've had to replace are the needle bushings. Not hard to replace despite what Badger tells you BTW. One tip I've learned over the years is to bring the needle forward out of the body to clean, and then reinsert through the backside of the body to get it together. This saves on wear and tear of the bushing.
  22. The only caveat I've run into when straightening out a warped section on a resin body---------you've got to be careful NOT to wash the body in hot water again! Some resins have a "memory" and like plastic, will want to go back to the warped shape. Usually lukewarm water is sufficient to wash the body if need be afterwards. Just my 2¢........and hope this helps Larry!
  23. Uggggh.................another good reason for us to get back to P.R. eh Cruz?? I heard here in Central PA we're supposed to get up to possibly a foot or more! When I go into work tonight, you can best believe I'm going to put in for a couple vacation days!
  24. How's this??..................
  25. I couldn't help but think the same thing!
