  1. if you peel back the label you might be surprised and see that its kyrlon or another good name brand paint. the duplicolor had a label over it call "color splash enamel" lol and still had the dupli-color lid and I peel off the fake label and boom a 10$ can of duplicolor is hiding lol
  2. thats DSGM5100 "torch red" the local dollar store stocks duplicolor here 2$ a can! i think i bought every color they make lol
  3. got this one finished. duplicolor paint, krylon clear. mainly box stock, I added steel wheels and drum brakes,PE grill, '57 chevy steering wheel, spark plug wires are yellow thread lol old school style
  4. a bit more work on this one. I took off the cross decals from the hubcaps. added some plug wires and put on the radiator hoses. I'm thinking of using the top of the hood on this one also
  5. got a few more parts stuck on today
  6. stuck the windows and interior in. next up is alclading all the chrome and workin on the engine
  7. hey dudes, I haven't built a hot rod in a while. picked up this revell kit so far I got the body painted and polished, I did re-scribe the panel lines since they seemed a bit shallow and might have disappeared under the clear.
  8. this is the AMT snap together kit. I turned it into a Dale Earnhardt car.
  9. here is my latest , a tamiya 109E3, I made my own paint scheme because I like this plane in Desert colors the best, and this is only kit i could get from hobby shop here. I painted with tamiya and weathered with oils
  10. actually i use left over decals from nascar decal sheets.
  11. hey guys after a break from cars I'm back picked this kit up last week and started on the engine. hard to see in the pics but i painted the air filters pinkish red and then put wire mesh from a coffee filter over them, looks like K&N's, the tops are moon hubcaps lol.
  12. I just wanted a quick build not to much body work...
  13. JWTBM decals, a few added thingies but basically box stock.
  14. heres a Maisto bike, pretty crappy from the box there lol thought it would be a fun little project to kill some time heres how it looks when you buy it. stripped down painted up. i thinned down all the tubes on the frame so they look round, they were all square before lol added some wires ( stretched sprue) a bit more messing around with it and it will be done finished
  15. assembling the interior that engine does have a hole in the bottom for the metal front axle though
  16. amazing!
  17. added some plug boots on the engine
  18. painted the dash, I use super light air pressure to get the texture on the flat black paint.and thin wire to make the gauge bezels heres the fan belt, I thinned all the belts using the knife blade.
  19. painted up the grill
  20. been working on this one gotta have some grease and gunk on the old engines! gunkified the engine bay a little, just wanted it lightly weathered. the interior is flocked I use embossing powder for that. more body work. The window trim on the front and side windows was poorly engraved and would have disappeared under a layer of paint. so I made new ones from some stretched sprue and sanded them to shape. I also sanded off the "chrome trim" around the wheel openings, i never liked the look of that on muscle cars. I'll throw some primer on later and check how its looking and if i need to tweak it. Oh and I re scribed all the panel lines so there nice and deep! stuck some paint on . no clear coat either, I wanted a factory look so I only polished the enamel paint using some scratch X.
  21. Definitely a must have kit! comes with 2 whole engines, a stock 4 barrel manifold, also comes with a tri power or dual 4 barrel intakes! those will end up on a 32 ford at some point gonna go factory stock engine, maybe metallic blue paint. mag wheels. did some engine work this is the second engine in the kit. thinking of dropping it in a mustang or maybe a hot rod later on.
  22. In 1990, in pursuit of the elusive Daytona 500 win, the finish line was in sight when Dale Earnhardt suffered a blowout to his right front on the LAST LAP by running over a piece of metal on the track. Luck was not with RCR that day, and this is all the remains of that very tire that cost us the race. It took RCR and dale until 1998 to finally win the Daytona 500!
  23. as for getting a perfect glossy finish. IMO you don't need to buy fancy expensive paints. good old dupli-color lacquer works awesome I use the paint shop clear it can be used over any type of base paint and there's no re-coat window or thinning required and polishes out perfectly. polishing is what makes the paint job.
