After achieving setting a new high score on the A1C test two weeks ago, I've made diet modifications (mostly checking carbs) a long with an Rx. Never a big sweets eater even as a kid (being allergic to chocolate took care of that!). Wife tested my blood sugar yesterday......149 down from 273 two weeks ago. Doing a call with the diabetic dietician in ten days so I'll know what other foods I'm about to lose from my life. (The spicy noodle bowls from Sam's was a hard cut).

The shelters around here are a three day hold period and then they are available for adoption. My parents caught a BIchon running loose and called the shelter. They said if he isn't redeemed they wanted to adopt. No one showed up and they adopted him.

What's with the U.S.Post office these days?
HomerS replied to styromaniac's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
The flyer/discount coupon for the Dayton Ohio Toy Show on February 16th arrived today (March 1st). It's postmarked January 28th from Columbus, Ohio. I live in the Cincinnati area! -
Dr's office wouldn't renew my Rx for blood pressure meds until they drew labs. Previous two times, I didn't fast so they couldn't draw blood then. Second time, I got blasted by the Dr for not fasting but I told her to go address that with {name redacted} at the front desk as I asked her if I needed to and she told me I did not. Sucked it up and had blood drawn but I get a call the next day asking me to come into the office. Last time I was checked, my A1C was high but I never went on line to see how high as I was told marginally high. This time, I set a new high score. Like golf, high score is not a good thing! Hey, at least it was still in single digits. Met with a different Dr...probably young enough to be my kid. "When you saw that number, what did you think?" Seriously?? That's like having a State Trooper at your window knowing you lit up his radar.....what do you want me to say other than I'm screwed? Wife (a nurse) went with me to the Dr appointment so THAT was a fun ride home. She wants me to toss the Doritos, Nutter Butter cookies and all my less than healthy foods. I refused but I told her I won't replenish them once gone. Monday I get a call from a dietectic consultant that I expressed interest in a meeting. 1) Um no I didn't and 2) the lady was likely the captain of the cheer squad in college!!! If I wasn't diabetic now, five minutes talking to her I may be now. Great you enjoy your job but ratchet down the "Yeah TEAM!!" personality!!!! Zero credit for losing 15 pounds since the last Dr visit! Started on Metformin to bring the A1C number down. The diet changes are gonna be a struggle.

Matchbox using smaller blister cards for their models?
HomerS replied to peteski's topic in Diecast Corner
I believe the smaller cards are for Europe. There are collectors in the US that collect only the shorter cards. Second release of that Mercedes is a gold car. The first release of the Eagle was maroon. (I moved away from Hot Wheels years ago as the designs were getting weird and less accurate). -
Local Ollie's didn't have any of the Great Dane trailers but did have a case of the 1/16 Ford Thunderbirds.

The local Fox network channel had several hours of pre SuperBowl programs on today. 1) the local NFL team didn't even make post season (again) 2) the game is more than 48 hours away!

It moved a couple blocks West to a new location. New name for the show as one of the vendors is keeping it going. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1045465047247107

The former Aromic City Swap Meet has been rescued by one of the vendors. First show at the new location was yesterday. Already have the Revell Bora, but they turn out nice in the right color and detailed. Couldn't pass on the Mercedez G4 either. The F150 crew cab was a nice surprise.

Time for the auto ship on dog meds, so not a new request. Watching the FedEx tracker, the meds made three depot stops (each one farther from me house) over the course of four days. Chewy said I would have it two days. Just give me the address as the starting point on the tracker, I could have made a 90 minute round trip and picked them up!

Local auction win. Had my sights on the blue Cadillac but the lot of these three was less than buying that one from eBay.

Hoping to deepen the connection children feel with the characters (and getting someone to pick up future episodes of Sesame Street), they are paring the core cast down to just four Muppets: Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster and Grover. The others — including Bert and Ernie — will still be in the show but not be the stars. Noooooo....!!!!! I'm almost 60 years old and can STILL sing Rubber Ducky!! Not well, but I know the words.....just sayin' I think I have enough backyard for Mr Snuffleupagus if he needs rehomed.

He didn't puncture both tires.....he got run over by both right side tires. Thump, thump. I've had them run under the car and hit the side of the tire and felt the thump, but I see them shaken up and run off. This guy wasn't as fortunate.

2025 not starting off on a good note. Made a few errands this a.m. when close to home a suicidal squirrel crossed where there is no crosswalk. Usually they stop and run back but this one didn't and took both passenger side tires.

Stopped by the local Ollie's looking to see what other toys they got I could grab for the grandson. They had several signs up that the toys are 33% off but models are excluded. Looks like the market materials had a better distribution than the models themselves as none of the Atlantis kits made the shelves here!

Had to take pics of Bear's incision and a video of her walking in the yard to the emergency vet as her follow up visit. Two weeks ago, she ended up having surgery to remove a softball sized wad of chewed up sock wrapped in grass. She ended up there again a week ago as she hardly eating anything and the medicine to enhance her appetite wasn't working. They modified her meds and the stomach decided she wanted to eat again. She got her release (!) and since the stitches are on the inside, nothing to take out. My youngest forgot to put the box in the chair we've been using to block her from her living room chair and she took advantage reclaiming her spot. So much for restricting her activity. She's always been a Daddy's girl. She was the only one of my dogs I took to see my dad when he ended up in the hospital from dementia and just laid in his lap (she's is perpetually happy anywhere!) so she will always have a huge spot in my heart.

Frank (mini dachshund) turns one in a couple weeks an we've yet to find a toy he can't destroy. His latest fatality was supposed to be one of the indestructible toy and he ripped up open the edge stitching in about five minutes. Bear had emergency surgery a week ago Monday to remove a chewed/eaten sock wrapped in grass. How can a 30 pound dog eat something that filled a canister about the size of a pop can! We spent another seven hours at the emergency vet on Sunday as she wasn't eating. There is an actual Rx for an appetite enhancer (!) to help jump start the stomach. We've had her almost 11 years but in great shape for being at least twelve so I was very nervous about her undergoing anesthesia. I'll never be ready to let her go, but certainly not now!

After a four year run, the monthly swap meet started by Atomic City Rod & Custom Model Car Resource won't being coming back in 2025. Per their Facebook page, it was mutual between them and the antique market host. One of the vendors is working to keep it going but we all just found out just found out. Only my wallet is happy about the pause as I never left empty handed! Atomic City Rod & Custom Model Car Resource will continue on. Their store is great resource for new/vintage kit and accessories, but the parts kits and rebuilders are the Chuck E Cheese world for modelers! I'm not affiliated with the store in anyway....just a plastihaulic like the rest of us here.

Nowadays, trash has too many rules. My city's contractor took four foot fluorescent tubes out of the trash and laid them in my yard. I e-mailed them to ask why and they told me I had to wrap them in newspaper. I answered back that in the electronic age, where does one acquire this stuff called newspaper? They wouldn't take a 40 inch board (one) that was placed next to my cans but the following week they took it when I put it in the can which made it hard to roll to the truck? Couple years ago we got forced recycling (I'm sure the city gets some kinda kickback on the program) as we can't opt out). We are suppose to wash out containers....I'm not increasing my water bill to wash trash. The city took away the big containers at city hall so I actually recycle less as I'm over cleaning up the stuff the contractor dumps from the curb to the truck.

Frank (our Dachshund) is a food mooch fan moreso than my other two dogs. He was staring at me eating my burger so I gave him a clump of blue cheese that had fallen off. Yeah he was kinda rethinking that one! He still ate it but the look on his face was like giving a small child a Sour Patch Kid candy.....
