My youngest turned 16 in November but he was in no rush to get his license. He'll get the 'new to him' 2003 Durango. 4.7L so not a speed demon when moving that much SUV. He's not driving the wife Crew Cab Dodge Ram (hemi equipped) and I'm marginally responsible with the Genesis G80 (AWD)

My brother in law posted this on a bulletin board at work when they had a competition at work posting younger pics of themselves. He's a bigger person (350+) so I told him I didn't realize he used to be a good swimmer

Odd Place to Find Models
HomerS replied to Calb56's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've found models at kids resale shops (local/regional ones....nothing at national ones like Once Upon A Child) If buying from ShopGoodwill look at the pics carefully. I've seen diecast with the narrative saying minor wear/no damage but the bumper is missing and the windshield is cracked. I've bought things and pieces that were in the pics on the listing didn't make the package when mailed. I've bought things tht have been badly damaged due to no packaging so it didn't survive shipping. Only one told me to keep it and refund my money but most e-mail you a shipping label and refund the cost when they get the item back. (Not sure how this makes business sense paying shipping both ways on an item they got for free)? -
I've had that happen as well but included a pic of the damage and I had a replacement in just a few days. I took everything in the box, poured it into a trash bag and took it to a shelter who was more than willing to take it. They are excellent about standing behind their business.

Passed of pancreatic cancer. I lost an aunt to the disease.....not a pleasant way to go

I can seriously Tetris the dishwasher! My only issue is the neither the wife nor my teenager remove left over food before placing dishes in the sink. I scrape it off and leave it in the sink for them. Wife asks why I can't scrape if off into the trash can to which I reply why can't they dump it into the trash as they walk past the can when they go into the kitchen??? You can hear crickets chirp.....

The heart was far from ready but Bear was depressed and separation anxiety was setting in. I had an application in on an Aussie at a local rescue but I suspect some behind the scene funny business and she never made adoption event (had a UTI from getting spayed). I should have known as they dont usually spay until they have a confirmed adopter. This beauty was at a shelter two counties away. They post on Facebook as they tour the kennels and mispresented her as they came around a corner surprising her so she came flying out of her bed and barked at the gate. Once she realized it was staff, she just went back to her bed and laid down, but I saw her ID on the gate its an Aussie. Filled out the application on Friday and got to meet her. They also had a Border Collie mix but it was love at first sight. She's a little smaller than my Jamie but clearly Brians personality. Brought Bear back on Saturday for meet-n-greet and neither cared about the other one. We've had a couple growls as Bear kinda walked through her new roomie's space but that is it. Meet Shasta (wife wants to rename her Reily).....four year old Aussie. She is a return to the shelter by a family that had small kids and she was growling/herding them. (That is her job!)

It's official.....surgery is scheduled for the end or next month. Kinda expected it since the pop was eerily famailiar. Brace.....therapy.....crutches for six weeks. At least it's not knee replacement as that could be down the road due to the arthritis in there.

The one I had been dreading passed this afternoon. He had a really bad breathing episode last night and I was up with him until 1a. He finally settled in and went to sleep. Wife got up this a.m. and he was sitting up in the big dog bed but his hind legs were not working (that is a condition of his paralyzed larynx). Wife made THAT vet appointment and he passed before she and my older son was able to get him into her truck. I was bracing for having to be there with him but he went on his terms. Tracing back his chips, he was abandoned twice so I absolutely made sure he would not cross to the Rainbow Bridge alone! RIP Brian Griffin.......

Three weeks ago, I went to a toy show (disappointing show) and stopped at a model car swap meet on the way home. Walked about 1.7 miles per my phone. Stepping into the living from the porch (ONE step) and POP (from the left leg)! Tried to take a step and the intense pain went from the hip to the foot. I had to lean on the end table and managed to get to the couch. Had to call my oldest to dig the crutches out of storage and hobbled around for several days. I had chills as I had flashbacks to tearing the meniscus in the right knee 35 years ago when playing tennis. I had to undergo therapy as the knee wouldn't bend post surgery. I'm an office worker so not sure how I retore it about 18 months ago which required another scope. Much better this time as I had about 50% mobilty immediately afterwards. I joked with my teenager that my coaching him for baseball and backetball was over!! Went though the MRI and should have waited until the Ortho Dr this Friday. I stopped reading at "Complete Tear". My son learned learned a few new words unfortunately as my concerns were realized. I joked with the Dr that I didn't even DO anything to tear it but he pointed out if you wear out the right side tires on your car, the left side ones will need replaced too eventually. My truck was a manual transmission so fortunately I was still living at home and got to drive my mom's car. This time around, the car is an automatic, but Genesis automatically moves the seat back and the steering wheel up for ease in and out. (Guess Genesis knows old farts drive their sedans).

If you read the post about Show Us Your Dog, you know I lost my beloved Aussie last Friday. I had box of hand towels in my car the past several weeks with the intent to take them to a local low cost pet clinic. Friday afternoon, I took them and three bags of dental chews along Jamie's meds and a former food bowl (we switched her to a smaller one) to the clinic. The lady at the reception desk was an older African American lady (very grandmotherly). I explained what each of the items was but struggled when I started talking about my Daddy Girl. She looked at this old fart and asked if she could give me a hug.....absolutely as this was ripping my heart out even more! I e-mailed the clinic director and told them what this wonderful woman did for me that a.m. Wife calls me a work today that I got a package from Chewy. Odd....didnt order anything but did cancel Jamie's meds and scaled back the dry kibble and I e-mailed Chery to let them know they didn't do anything wrong but I lost my baby. Wife opened the box and it was a small bouquet of flowers (w/vase) in her memory. I just got off a conference call and kept telling myself not to look......but I did. I had to step away from my desk. They owed me nothing.....my sole reason was just good business to let them know why I stopped a couple of the auto ships. It's hard to lose a furbaby but little things like this really lets you know others care.

Pupdate. One good....one not Brian has been doing better once we figured out the dosage and took him off the CBD. My wife is a nurse and figured out part of his issue was the CBD we had him on to keep the husky side more calm is processed in the liver. Looking on the web, it's processed in the liver and with his liver cancer, it may be affecting his other meds. My Aussie Jamie was diagnosed with kidney disease a week ago. Her two enzymes five times the highest number on the range. Vet felt if we would flush the kidneys we have a shot bringing her around. She passed away a couple hours ago. The pick below was her last spa day just six weeks ago. She was a spoiled rotten Daddys girl! The other pic was her falling asleep in my hand. Those eyes just told me "I'm done!" RIP baby

Good luck in your quest. I made a trade for an AMX as Okey had them in his stock at shows.....until I needed one. Months later, I find an AMX rebuilder at a swap meet and it had two windows. Gracious seller let me buy one of them

Went to a toy show Saturday (unproductive) and then went to a local model swap meet to walk around....1.7 miles per my phone. Came home, walked in the front door making ONE step up from the porch into the house and POP! Left knee locked....the pop felt eerily like the pop the right knee made when I tore the meniscus over 30 years ago. I couldn't without pain and I knew if I tried to step I would be up to my nose in floor. Went to the family Dr this morning who believes I'm correct. Orthopedic Dr on Monday to schedule an MRI. Getting old sucks!

Thank you everyone who sent well wishes regarding Brian. His breathing has been better but can get labored if excited. He hasn't played with any of his toys since he's been back home which is very unlike him. We had his follow up visit today. I was holding out pretty well until the vet uttered the words I dreaded......it's terminal! His heart is healthy but the risk is too great to work on the larynx or do any testing on the liver mass. It's about quality of life, not quantity. Other than 'months' the vet would not give an estimate about how ling he has left.

My father had dementia but the sudden, unexpected passing of my mom (6 months after their 50th anniversary) greatly accelerated it. We took his car away when he was at an apartment complex lost where he was and backed into another car. I took him everywhere and his half brothers took turns taking him out. The final step was he was dressed like it was winter on an 80+ degree day and went for a long walk to the police department. Got him checked out and physically he was fine but his mind was slipping further. Took him home and placed baby proof locks on outside doors. An hour later, the police called as he went for a walk along the emergency pull off on the highway......last straw. Locked him in his house, put furniture in front of both doors and spent that night with him. Ended up moving him into a memory care nursing home for the final two years of his life. One tip.....they remember things that happened 70 years ago as vividly like it just happened and the last ten minutes of their life.....everything in between is still there but hiding. Dad was a car buff so I could show him pics of car shows from his youth and he was attentive and alert. His mom had dementia as well and grandma's safety zone was hearing Mitch Miller music.

Been a long couple of days. Several months ago, Brian developed a breathing issue and was diagnosed him with hypoplastic trachea. It's more common in smaller dogs e bulldogs and pekingese. It was being managed with a couple meds but this week he got into a major issue that resulted a trip to the vet and then directly to the emergency vet. He ended up in doggie ICU and in an oxygen cage. He was breathing better but far from out of the woods. Day 2 was better but still struggling outside of the oxygen. He was rediagnosed as paralyzed larynx which causes similar breathing issues but affects bigger dogs like him. He came home yesterday with a couple meds and doing pretty well. Not playing with his toys but resting comfortably and sniffing around with his step sisters. Consequential finding is a large lump on his liver. There were two smaller masses but the cell biopsy indicated possible cancer. We're not doing any further testing as he is about 11 years old and the anesthesia itself is a risk because of his breathing. There are three stages of paralyzed larynx but again, he would need to be knocked out to test further and the risks outway it.
