  1. Toy Show finds.....(all factory sealed) Wanted an MPC Roadrunner to do Superbird version and finally found one very reasonable.....ended up buying both kits the guy had Monte Carlo Aero Coupe.....missed it last time
  2. Curious I was looking for tickets for the Trans Siberian Orchestra at the local arena. Decent seats were $49/each....times two was $98. Not bad! Moved on to the next page of TickerMaster and the total for electronic tickets jumped to $149??? Nope!! I would like to see them live but not that bad!
  3. ....and I don't mean Dad things that we shutter when we utter and realize we've morphed into that person. 1) There was a fight at my son's school and one of the other parents asked me if I knew who it was. I said I had no idea but she sent me a link to a Facebook video and asked her "who is the teacher with the man bun?" When I was looking for my first home, I looked outside the city I grew up in but ended up with a good deal less than a mile from where I grew up so my boys are in the same school system I went through. I had teachers that were much older than me (some were Vietnam or Korean vets), but no 'man buns' 2) Two of my dogs have joint issues/arthritis and they were put on CBD supplements (which really helps!) The store I go to, the owner has another business and I didn't know he owned a CBD store. He uses it for his pets as well and has always been able to keep me stocked. I told the wife one night, "our dogs have a weed man".
  4. Jo-Han Eldorado.....pre 76 body. Unbuilt with the best chrome I've seen AMG Mercedes...missing wheels/tires but for $15, I can find some Ronal Fujimi Testrossa......open/complete. Classic Mercedes F/S. This, the Classic Cadillac and the Fast Buck....not sure when or if they'll be back
  5. The gem of the Dayton show/swap meet.....open and appears complete. I was shocked not one grabbed it from the bottom of the stack by the time I spotted it.....for $15. (pic plagiarized from eBay)
  6. Playing on the web looking to see what's at SEMA.
  7. Never heard of one until Matchbox did one a few years ago.
  8. My first dog as an adult was a Greyhound.....Winston was from a litter of three, all named for Popeye characters. Winston (formerly Wimpy) was booted from the track as he wanted to play instead of racing. His brother Bluto didn't care to race and their sister Olive Oyl was a beautiful blue Greyhound that ran the wrong direction. His separation anxiety resulted in a roommate for him. His final day, his arthritis had progressed that he could no longer get up or stand. I called off work and laid behind him all day petting him and emptying the treat bag to him. He was too proud he wouldn't pee on the area rug. To TonyK's point, I was a flat out mess for three days. I lost my mom unexpectedly to a stroke and my dad to Dementia, but having to put Winston down tore my heart out.
  9. Got a call this afternoon and the caller ID said it was our vet. One of the customers lost their dog and it was on the same med that one of mine recently started on for hypoplastic trachea and they wanted to donate it back to another user. It's rare my big mouth is at a loss for words but it hit me as I graciously accepted. I did the same thing when I lost one of mine earlier this year with anti-seizure medicine as I just had his refilled.
  10. Anyone have a flyer for the show this weekend?
  11. Watching the Rangers/Avs game and hear a loud crunch outside. Young lady took out an SUV belonging to a neighbor. She was not injured but did leave in the silver bracelets as she failed the field sobriety tests badly. My youngest just got his temps so I stood out in the rain with him while the police processed the scene and he got to see her do all the tests. Summation: Her insurance pays for her Honda CRV, the Ford Escape she took out, six points on the drivers license, spend tonight as a guest of the city (or possibly the county), couple grand in fines, higher insurance costs. My wife is not a fan of me doing these real life examples but here is something that drives the point home for a new driver. Irony...the owner of the Escape she took out drives for Uber
  12. Pork Souvlaki. I marinaded the meat but tossed it into the grilling basket with onions and sweet peppers instead of making skewers.
  13. Loved his character of Sidney "Sid" Delacroix on The Cool Kids. My father spent the last two years of his life in a nursing home due to Dementia. Unless you've had a close family member in one, you can't fully appreciate his character on that show
  14. Our fridge was dying earlier this year. The sales lady at Lowes stalked the wife and I like were going to grab a floor model and run for the door. We got the current one from them and their deliveries guys were not the shiniest crayon in the box. It has to come through the living room, through the dining room and then a 90 into the kitchen as the side door is not wide enough to come in that way. They took the doors off and reinstalled them once the fridge was in place. We went to a local appliance store and bought a 'scratch & dent' model with a good sized dent on the back. No one will ever see it and it doesn't affect the performance. Their in house delivery crew was top notch.....and they were smarter than the Lowes guys as they got it in the kitchen without removing the doors. Color options have really dropped as it's white, black or stainless.
  15. Auction win.....$20. Missing chrome front and interior tub/glass (this can be pilfered from one of the current versions)
  16. Didn't see any of these but the die cast kits did have a white Maisto C8
  17. Finally encountered the elusive Round2 shipper. My son got all six of the trike kits
  18. Ole Smoky Moonshine makes Shine Nog. Makes family gatherings more tolerable.
  19. Third visit from the plumber this year. The originals owners of this house planted an oak tree directly over the sewer line and over the years the roots have found the sewer line so I need to have the line augured every two or three years. The tree is four feet in diameter at the base and probably 80' plus tall so I know it would be very expensive to take it down. We never had any issues until about ten years ago when the hot pink of the 50's toilet broke so we had to get a new one. The money we save in low flush toilets (1.6 gallons versus 3.5 gallons) just goes to the plumber. I was searching on line to see if this toilet could be modified and was shocked to see that toilets now are down to 1.24 gallons per flush. WAIT!!! 1.6 gallons isn't 'moving the merchandise' why do they scale it back even more?? I don't need to launch it to the sewage treatment plant, just to the main in the street!
  20. Less "mall rated" look with Hot Wheels swap Wanted the HellCat in Yellow. (dye job).....added Matchbox wheels which are closer to SRT rims
  21. Matchbox has gone Maisto on some recent releases including the Bentley SUV, Dodge Durango, Mercedes G-Wagon 6x6, 59 Chevy wagon, etc. by tinting the windows and no interior. I was really surprised on the Bentley as when they were one company with Rolls Royce, they were very particular about licensing so there are no 'Palmer quality' miniatures out. Higher end HW wheels help the cause somewhat. Tires were originally purple but a Sharpie fixed that
  22. It's Jackie O. They did a four character series with her, JFK, Reagan and Carter
  23. My first one was Slash from Guns 'n Roses......followed by Jerry Garcia. I met a couple at one of the toy shows that they customize Pops characters by putting small lights in them powered by a watch battery (their best one was of course Uncle Fester with the light bulb in his mouth). I got playing on the web and found some interesting customs so I started doing it for my own amusement. These are a a few of them as I'm about a dozen in but some of the them are more than a tad on the dark side to post here....... Pics 1 and 2.....Funko included good detail but it's not painted accordingly (see the skin above the gloves). Repainted to match her pink Chanel dress. This is one of them I took to the dark side. Pic 3 thru 5.....SAMAURI!!! I'm a huge fan of John Belushi. Funko did two of his character John "Bluto" Blutarsky from Animal House (one in a toga and one with the COLLEGE sweatshirt). I took the head and put it on some warrior body.....found a sword in the hand of another Pops character. Beard is burnt cork rubbed on (intentionally left spotty). Yes he has the man bun on top. Pic 6.....Don't recall why I had the Joker, but looking closely at it, the colors said 'pimp'. Don't recall who the head was from. The hat was from some other Pop of an older lady with a shield. The zebra print is all quick swipes with toothpick
  24. I've been more into Matchbox as Hot Wheels frequently has oversized rear wheels and usually oddball designs. The Hot Wheels Jaguar XJ220 took three cars.....clear glass from the silver release, gold time from a dark blue one.....the rest went onto the black version which had the Jag logo on the side. Matchbox Bentley Continental GT was the 100th Anniversary release.....stripped the stripe, interior went from grey to black and the wheels off the current Mazda Miata
