Yep! Mom never smoked, drank, drugs, stayed active and worked up to the day of her stroke....long trips for her were anything over 20 miles one way......died at 70 of a stroke from not taking her blood pressure meds Dad ate like the cockroach, smoked a pipe, never exercised and stopped taking his blood pressure meds after mom passed.....made it eight more years to the age of 80 and died of Dementia. I'm mid 50's and buried several friends and classmates. I'm fat and happy. BP under control and bad cholesterol is only marginally high

I need to get another display cabinet

Reach out to management office at a nearby mall. Tenant's leave stuff behind that needs a home. I used to work for the company that bought a mall in Ashland KY. They recently sold it to a developer and donated all the fixtures to a charitable company that will sell it. (Search Kyova Mall) Check smaller thrift stores. One near me gets cabinets all the time and they put them on the sidewalk in front of the store for a few bucks as they don't have the floor space to keep them inside. -
92 Mercury Topaz!!! Bought brand new and I was like Norm walking into the bar on Cheers when it came in for service frequently.....everyone knew my name. Before the warranty ran I out I sold it. I was making good $$ by the end of my time with that POS and the dealership told me to look at the Mustang. I said you can't fix this thing why would I spend more money with Ford? Several Mitsubishi's, couple Dodge's, a Pontiac and now Genesis...I've not been back.

We had a neighbor that was known for inviting the entire family tree over a cookout every Sunday in the summer so it sounded like Chuck E Cheese frequently. I found that a great time to fire up the lawnmower, weed whack with precision along the fence, detail the car with the most annoying CD I could find, load the firepit with wet oak leaves (enough smoke to make it look like a plane went down), get the chain saw out to cut up the limbs that fell over the winter to firewood length.

Game used goalie stick from Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jason Elliott. Got it autographed in person when he was with their AHL affiliate. Radio promo CD two pack of Sammy Kershaw Feelin' Good Train Rarely stop in there anymore as most of the items at the ones in my area are more expensive than buying new at Wally World

Went to a toy show last Sunday. Other than the current Matchbox releases, not much else! Swap meet yesterday and went overboard. The most expensive thing here is the Vega. Everything is sealed or open/complete. The Coke van was an auction win for less than $5. Pop machine is missing but the glass and decals are there....so are the two cases of Coke bottles

My high school freshman made the school baseball team! Both of my sons them play/played rec league baseball and basketball through the years and I got sucked into assistant coaching. I had them play all positions in baseball as I explained if you do and the coach knows he can count on you anywhere, you'll never sit out a game. My oldest liked basketball moreso but went out for the high school team. His 6'5" frame made plays look easy and the coaches took that as showboating and he didn't make the team. Back to my freshman.....first year of kid pitch he was awful (Bob Uecker "JUST a bit outside" bad). One of the assistant coaches worked with him and the last game of the season he got a relief appearance and did great. Subsequent years he was the best starter his teams had. He missed one full season from a fall breaking both ones in his lower (catching) arm. He will be pitcher as well as first base this spring. First base? No rec league for the last two years so sixth grade year, the team had enough players to almost make two teams so some got games off....he was one of three that didn't. He and three others on the team understood that some of the fielder throws to first may be off target so CATCH the ball and if you can THEN step on the base before the runner gets there!! My oldest did make the eighth grade school basketball team (only lost one game all season due to questionable ref'ing).....youngest makes the high school baseball team. Not sure where the talent came from as its certainly not his parents or grandparents?

What song(s) make you wish for an open road and no speed limit?

The "D" students of today are the Amazon delivery folks of tomorrow. This sign was more for the delivery driver that puts the 50 pound bag of dog food from Chewy in front of the door but since we've been adding more stuff from them, the driver barely makes the porch. Wife ordered some groceries items today and the bonehead set it to where I can't open the door. The order was an hour beyond the projected delivery window so the teenager was coming home from school so the problem was resolved.

In a previous life I was a facility manager for a health insurance company and, although we were a third party contractor we had to sit through the point person's monthly call so my local counterpart and I would send this back and forth while he proceeded to take an hour out of our lives.......

In a previous life, I had a Dogbert with a Magic 8 ball kinda thing on the bottom. People would frequently stop by my cube and ask why I had it. I would tell them I can turn it over and get a better answer from Dogbert's butt than corporate.

A much smaller event this year as due to multiple challenges (Bengals in the SuperBowl, getting volunteers, etc) but over 300 animals have homes tonight that didn't before the weekend started. I've been fighting the remnants of a head cold (I get sick every year when the temperatures fluctuate greatly) so I didn't get to do as much as I wanted. The country stew soft food from Pedigree somehow affects my Aussie and it leads to her incontinence issue so I bagged up the remaining half a case and took it to one of the rescues. This little sweetie made eye contact as we walked in so her rescue was the recipient. The number of dogs outnumber the people in my house and we have a well balanced harmony so I'm not going to mess with the chemistry! Wow....I seriously need a haircut!

Waylon Jennings. He was playing at a small county bar/concert venue. No overhyped stage performance and TRUE country music.

Every one in high school got a ticket within the first two years of getting their license. I was within two weeks of breaking the cycle and wrecked the delivery car for the pharmacy I delivering prescriptions for. Even though I was below the speed limit, it was considered 'too fast for conditions' as I slid on wet leaves. Second and only other ticket, I went through the 'safety zone' coming down an entrance ramp as I saw an opening in the backed up traffic so I got on early......cop didn't care. I had an 84 Dodge Rampage and apparently attracted too much attention as I got a warning for 32 in a school zone. I knew the cop and offered the him the keys that if he can get it from that intersection to where he claimed he clocked me, I will shut up and sign the ticket. (That 2.2L has a 0-60 you could time with a calendar). He told me to slow down and walked away. 92 Mercury Topaz....it was ticket proof other than possibly loitering 93 Dodge Stealth......I put $100 in the drawer as I figured it was a ticket waiting to happen...parenthood caused the sale of it 02 MItsubishi Diamante......200 hp and no traction control (not a great idea) 09 Pontiac G8.....REALLY deserved several tickets including mandatory court appearance worthy 17 Genesis G80 (AWD)....trying to be a good boy as the teenager is coming on 16th birthday, but it has 60 more hp that the G8 and with about 500 extra pounds (the car, not me!) it tends to creep up on the highway

What did you learn to drive in?
HomerS replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
1978 Ford Fairmont (not the actual car) I missed on question on the written part (never asked which one it was as I was frustrated that it was ONE question from a perfect score). In driver's ed, I wasn't the smoothest doing the hand over hand feeding the wheel back. On the drive with the instructor I was spot on. I did EVERYTHING perfect.....except half way through the driver around the block I realized I didn't have the seat belt on. EXPLETIVE!!!! There is no looking cool trying to reach for it so I didn't say a thing. I passed with no deductions.
