  1. Local die cast show. All are open/complete. The Skyline was solely to irritate my teenager Already have a Sierra (Merkur) but it's only the second one I've seen
  2. BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (WAVE) - Taco Bell is set to break ground on a brand-new, innovative concept restaurant in Minnesota opening next year. Called “Taco Bell Defy,” the restaurant will be the first-of-its-kind, with a two-story, 3,000 square-foot location that offers four lanes for drive-thru service. So when (not if!) they get your order wrong, do you have to toss it up to the second floor?
  3. Food truck rally at a local park Lunch Empanada for lunch and a salted caramel bourbon pretzel for dessert (food coma hit hard about an hour later) Dinner My teenager and I are splitting a Bahn Mi sandwich and a Bulgogi bowl
  4. Only wanted the Toronado, but the DeSoto was too nice to pass up! I caved on the Viper. I resisted but I think I have virtually all the other 1/18 releases and the teenager talked me into it
  5. Been a while since I've seen one so had to grab it. Open but complete.
  6. Tower Hobbies has it for $42 AMT Foxy van and the Californian are under $30. Seems way off...
  7. Math is hard...... If you saw the video of the LAPD bomb squad putting a tad too much illegal fireworks into the container and detonated it The explosion of a Los Angeles Police Department bomb-disposal truck that injured 17 people last month was caused by “human error” after officials underestimated the weight of the fireworks that detonated, authorities said Monday. The June 30 blast came when the bomb squad was called to remove about 40 “Coca-Cola can-sized” improvised explosive devices that had been among the 32,000 pounds of fireworks stored illegally by a resident, authorities said. Since some of the fireworks were found to have “leaking material,” officials on the scene decided to detonate the dangerous explosives there. LAPD Chief Michel R. Moore said in a news conference that bomb technicians believed they had stored 16.5 pounds of explosives in the Total Containment Vessel, the bomb squad’s disposal truck, but an ATF National Response Team later found that the technicians had placed more than 42 pounds into the vehicle. None of the injuries to the 10 law enforcement personnel and seven residents from the blast were life-threatening. In addition to the injuries, the blast damaged or destroyed 37 vehicles, 22 residential properties and 13 businesses, police said.
  8. Just gonna put this right here.....
  9. DMV...... Apparently the folks on the People of WalMart website hang out at the local DMV office! With their website being clear as mud, I had several forms of ID with me to renew my drivers license. Of course I didn't have the one they required to get the drivers license to use to be able to fly....birth certificate. The lady behind the counter said the requirement has been postponed until 2023. I said can you be more specific.....January 2023? December 2023?? May 2023. Since the expiration was coming up and I may have flashbacks from the freak show I witnessed yesterday a.m., I said I will just renew the current one and get the upgraded one at a later date/time. Less than a minute later, she said that the state now allows you to renew it good for eight years and did I want to do so. The filter between the brain and mouth tapped out. I said "did we NOT just have this conversation less than a minute ago! Why would you even ask that??" My tax dollars at work!!
  10. Congratulations!! My mom passed six months after their 50th anniversary and I made Dad put that in her obituary as it's a major accomplishment.
  11. I fully agree with you!! Time Warner sent me to collections over $10 because of their billing error. I wrote a nastygram when I sent the notice back to the collection company and a copy to Time Warner....ended up getting a $20 check. Every Saturday when their sales rep interrupted my quiet weekend, I gave them an earful!
  12. Doug's doing it again........August 29th
  13. You can make an ice cream float........
  14. Matchbox has been hit (Plymouth Savoy) or miss (more without an interior) in the recent years. Here's a few interesting ones coming out next year......
  15. 44 tables! Doug said he will look at doing again, possibly next month, as the Dayton and Cincinnati shows aren't 'til November this year. Sold of more than I bought....in spite of what the wife thought! It was just great to see people from both area clubs
  16. From the Louisville show yesterday...... Pic 1.....builts but using for parts. The van will get restored eventually as is it's complete has the early 70's front end (missing the horizontal taillights) and no sink lines from the gigantic clear top of later versions Pic2....Geo Storm promo, Mercedes SL (Monogram kit), and a die cast Pagani (for my teenager) Pic 3....the Yellow Challenger was the lone one I was missing. Jo-Han Toronado (sealed). P/L Silver pre-painted Ford GT. Revell California Roller......missing tires/glass, may leave unpainted as one of the best 'molded in colors' I've ever seen
  17. When you're a kid, it was exciting to get your favorite players autograph at a sporting event. I'm not sure which is worse now......seeing players knowing you're old enough to be their father OR taking you're kids to the autograph session knowing you watched that player's father play the sport and you have HIS autograph!
  18. They changed the wording on some of the model listings. It used to say: Due to the nature of this item, the style you receive will vary. If you would like to specify a style, please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-888-0321, and press 1 to place your order with a representative. But they changed it to: NOTE: This item comes in assorted styles. While we make every effort to ensure items in stock are represented accurately online, at this time, we are unable to ensure that you will receive this item in the style you see pictured.
  19. As more details are made public, the more heartbreaking this becomes. Turns out the mortar tilted towards the group of people at the party and he stepped in front of it to protect his friend/teammate and his family. A truly selfless act......
  20. My oldest finally got an IT position!! Now that I'm the old fart, I'm shocked at the stuff companies pull and then they wonder why people job hop! One of his interviews, they offered him a position for about 33% less than the one he just accepted. Another one wanted him to sign a non-compete clause...hard no!! If it turns out to be a nightmare, then he cant jump ship to another company for a year!
  21. Wow....great job on that land yacht!!
  22. Ordered the dog meds on line and it took a week to get from FL to OH. The sad part was it took just two days to get from FL to Indianapolis and the tracking showed it sat there for two days and then locally at the depot in OH for two days. Four days to make the journey I could knock out in about four hours round trip. I send a note to the company to let them know as I may order from another source it they cant find a better shipper and they made excuses for the post office being understaffed and a significant increase of packages. Seriously? The USPS tracker showed the meds delivered in/near the mailbox. They were not there. 20 minutes later I hear the mail carrier having a conversation on my front porch so I hustle (as much as a fat guy can) to ask where the box is. She was on her phone having a conversation so it took me a couple doors away to catch her. She said she put it at the side door because of the sign on the door. WTH?? The sign on the door asks that packages not be left AGAINST the door (as the FedEx guy sets the dog food bags against the door so you cant get out the door to grab them). So instead she left the small cardboard box out in the rain by the side door instead of in the mail box or on the covered porch. (BTW, it was flea meds so it was in a cardboard box itself but the exterior box soaked up all the rain). I sent a note to the USPS and they blamed it on the carrier covering for the regular one. Funny the ten year old that delivered the Girl Scout cookies was able to understand the sign.
  23. The dollar menu at Taco Bell really DOES pay for itself!
  24. LSAN, South Korea (WKRC/CBS Newspath) - Using a toilet can pay for your coffee or buy you bananas at a university in South Korea, where waste is being used to help power a building. Cho Jae-weon, an urban and environmental engineering professor at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), has designed an eco-friendly toilet connected to a laboratory that uses human waste to produce biogas and manure. The BeeVi toilet - a portmanteau of the words bee and vision - uses a vacuum pump to send feces into an underground tank, reducing water use. There, microorganisms break down the waste to methane, which becomes a source of energy for the building, powering a gas stove, hot-water boiler and solid oxide fuel cell. There are three of the toilets in a campus building that opened in 2018. "If we think outside the box, feces can make energy and manure. Circulating this precious value back into the ecological system and the economy is the idea of BeeVi toilet," Cho said. An average person defecates about 500g a day, which can be converted to 50 liters of methane gas, the environmental engineer said. This gas can generate 0.5kWh of electricity or be used to drive a car for about 1.2km (0.75 miles). The manure is also used in a nearby garden. Cho has devised a virtual currency called Ggool, which means honey in Korean. Each person using the eco-friendly toilet earns 10 Ggool a day. Students can use the currency to buy goods on campus, from freshly brewed coffee - approximately 15 Ggool - to instant cup noodles, fruits and books. The students can pick up the products they want at a shop and scan a QR code to pay with Ggool. "We put value on person's faeces and give 10 Ggool as toilet income and basic income," said Cho. "I think everyone can put different values on 10 Ggools. Some people say it's worth about three dollars while others say it's like the price of coffee."
