As I told both my sons, the best recipes were made when someone experimented. My soon to be college graduate can cook and the teenager is just starting to get into it

In what vehicle did you learn to drive?
HomerS replied to BeakDoc's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
1978 four door Ford Fairmont. Dad wanted me to learn a stick but it was three-on-the-tree of a four door 1964 Ford Falcon. I always had a hard time with the hand over hand feeding the wheel back after a turn but on the driver's ed road test I nailed it. However (!) I'm about half way through the tes when I had an Oh S&^% moment and realized I didn't have my seat belt on. There is no smooth way to grab/fasten it at that point so I continued on like nothing was wrong. I passed but to this day still recall that moment. -
You knew Motor Max had to recoup the investment of the Jeep pick up from the F&F series so they made factory stock versions......

VW T1 ladder truck and bus

The ladder truck brought back images of this. Had one as a kid and I likely still have it buried......somewhere in the man cave -
Why? Just wait until later this year when Round2 has another 'look what we found moment' and re-issues it but with better decals and pad printed tires....and cheaper! (No I don't have insider info....its just the way it seems to work) Seriously I wanted the Chevy Luv kit. Years went by and I found two at a toy show had a built white one with a cap and an orange one with the step side bed. I went for the standard bed......a year later Revell reissues it!

The Cincinnati Reds game was postponed last night in the eighth inning due to sleet. The local TV weather forecasters said up to an inch.....we got THREE! Enough already. It was 60 degrees yesterday afternoon. Three of the dogs gave a serious "what is this???" when I let them out this a.m. Brian? Doggie Snow Angels!!!!

It varies.....glue bombs, vintage stuff, parts kits, etc. I don't recall ever seeing a vendor there with current kits. There are two vendors that are there almost every time with current Matchbox (the retail selection around here is non-existent) and current Greenlight/M2's......both at sell at regular retail prices.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a shortage on salt for pool filters as well. Due to the pandemic, salt supplies were already low so some of local news stations had hardware places telling folks to check their pool supply house as its the same stuff just ground finer.

Moving to KY, Hobby Stores?
HomerS replied to TECHMAN's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Make the road trip to the South Louisville Antique & Toy Mall....about a 90 minute drive from Columbia. Not a bunch of models, but such a wide selection of various items I've never left empty handed. -

One of the area Cars & Coffee took the year of due to the pandemic but today it truly came back with a roar as there wasn't enough time to get around to all of them! First sighting of a Hellcar engine in the Durango. This one is good for at least one 'never saw one in person' moment -
Got my second shot on Sunday. I had more pain at the injection site from the first one. First shot, Walgreen was well staffed with two techs and a pharmacist. Second time, (same day of the week/time as the first one), not much. Only one tech and the regular pharmacist was out sick so the one subbing needed roller blades to try to keep up)

He hosts four shows a year.....1st and 3rd are die cast, 2nd and 4th are collectible toy and hobby. Usually Carney plastic comes to the 1st show which is in early February so you can get deals on cases.

If it's a legit cause my parents would have donated to, I send it back marked deceased. If it's an obvious money grab, I put the cemetery's address on the card inside to let them know they've 'moved'

We've had to post a large sign on the front door to NOT put packages right in front of the door as they have blocked the screen door from opening to retrieve it or gotten stepped on as we didn't know it was there when we stepped out the next morning. Since then, most understood the sign but we've had USPS and UPS take that as put it at the side door so it gets rained on instead. The front porch is 6x10....there's space! You can't fix stupid....

I plan on going. John always puts on a great show! The February show was fairly unproductive as a couple of the vendors I was expecting to have certain die cast stuff didn't have what I was looking for.

The Blue Jackets game was essentially over about six minutes in after Tampa scored three goals on five shots so you didn't miss anything in this game

Something I never thought about..... The Ohio State Highway Patrol has a new tool to help rescue stray animals thanks to generous donations from a humane society. The Ohio chapter of the United States Humane Society donated dozens of leashes to OSP for troopers to keep in their cruisers. It happened after the agency posted about one of its sergeants rescuing a stray dog on the highway. Now troopers all over the state will be able to keep a leash in their vehicles in case they need to make a rescue.
