  1. In a previous life, I had a Dogbert with a Magic 8 ball kinda thing on the bottom. People would frequently stop by my cube and ask why I had it. I would tell them I can turn it over and get a better answer from Dogbert's butt than corporate.
  2. A much smaller event this year as due to multiple challenges (Bengals in the SuperBowl, getting volunteers, etc) but over 300 animals have homes tonight that didn't before the weekend started. I've been fighting the remnants of a head cold (I get sick every year when the temperatures fluctuate greatly) so I didn't get to do as much as I wanted. The country stew soft food from Pedigree somehow affects my Aussie and it leads to her incontinence issue so I bagged up the remaining half a case and took it to one of the rescues. This little sweetie made eye contact as we walked in so her rescue was the recipient. The number of dogs outnumber the people in my house and we have a well balanced harmony so I'm not going to mess with the chemistry! Wow....I seriously need a haircut!
  3. Waylon Jennings. He was playing at a small county bar/concert venue. No overhyped stage performance and TRUE country music.
  4. Every one in high school got a ticket within the first two years of getting their license. I was within two weeks of breaking the cycle and wrecked the delivery car for the pharmacy I delivering prescriptions for. Even though I was below the speed limit, it was considered 'too fast for conditions' as I slid on wet leaves. Second and only other ticket, I went through the 'safety zone' coming down an entrance ramp as I saw an opening in the backed up traffic so I got on early......cop didn't care. I had an 84 Dodge Rampage and apparently attracted too much attention as I got a warning for 32 in a school zone. I knew the cop and offered the him the keys that if he can get it from that intersection to where he claimed he clocked me, I will shut up and sign the ticket. (That 2.2L has a 0-60 you could time with a calendar). He told me to slow down and walked away. 92 Mercury Topaz....it was ticket proof other than possibly loitering 93 Dodge Stealth......I put $100 in the drawer as I figured it was a ticket waiting to happen...parenthood caused the sale of it 02 MItsubishi Diamante......200 hp and no traction control (not a great idea) 09 Pontiac G8.....REALLY deserved several tickets including mandatory court appearance worthy 17 Genesis G80 (AWD)....trying to be a good boy as the teenager is coming on 16th birthday, but it has 60 more hp that the G8 and with about 500 extra pounds (the car, not me!) it tends to creep up on the highway
  5. Agreed....
  6. 1978 Ford Fairmont (not the actual car) I missed on question on the written part (never asked which one it was as I was frustrated that it was ONE question from a perfect score). In driver's ed, I wasn't the smoothest doing the hand over hand feeding the wheel back. On the drive with the instructor I was spot on. I did EVERYTHING perfect.....except half way through the driver around the block I realized I didn't have the seat belt on. EXPLETIVE!!!! There is no looking cool trying to reach for it so I didn't say a thing. I passed with no deductions.
  7. Doesn't appear to have a motor, but I didn't have my glasses on when I looked.
  8. Last weeks swap meet. The Subaru and Mini were $50 for the pair....sealed inside Mercedes was $10.....appears complete. Same for the BMW
  9. I served time in a parochial school fourth thru eighth grade. The principal and a few teachers were nuns but not dressed like these. Mean as can be! I worked in a local, independent pharmacy during the college years and had we had a few that came in dress as in the pic. Very pleasant and approachable.
  10. https://www.myfurryvalentine.com/ It's back in person next weekend!! It's Cincinnati area wide mass animal adoption event since 2012 as a suburban convention center. It's free for shelters/rescues for a basic spot (slight charge for electric hook up as well as if they want more than one spot). It's only $5 for people coming to check out the pets and the line is well out the door when they first open both days. I know at least a couple of the rescues (501c3) will sign off on community service for kids who need school credits to graduate if they'll help staff the booth. Last year was all on line but still found homes for 324 animals. Highest total was 2018 at 966 (!) new homes. The surgically repaired knee still isn't 100% but I'm still going to help the various attendees set up/tear down. The number of dogs out numbers the humans in the house but the wife still cringes the ratio will change.
  11. Proofreading is hard! Steelers request permission to interview Steelers assistant Teryl Austin https://www.yahoo.com/sports/steelers-request-permission-interview-steelers-193246282.html
  12. Today would have been my mom's 83rd....had she taken her blood pressure meds. She was good for going to the Dr but if she didn't like the way it made her feel, she tossed it in the drawer and never followed up with her Dr. She was constantly on dads butt about taking his meds when I was a kid. Dad outlived her by eight years. She had a stroke 13 years ago and we 'pulled the plug' within 48 hours. Purging the house as this devastated my dad, we found Rx after Rx virtually untouched.
  13. WKRP in Cincinnati..... Program Director Andy Travis : Now, you have this thing you call "Eyewitness Weather". What is that? Les Nessman : Well, I just look out the window and witness the weather.
  14. Unfortunately, based on weather data, "there is no predictive skill for the groundhog during the most recent years of the analysis," according to a report last year by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The local meteorologist utilizing billons of dollars of Doppler radar are marginally better!! I've shoveled a couple inches of 'partly cloudy' or used a roll of paper towels on their '10% chance of any rain' to dry the interior of my car. As one of the local radio station morning shows commented on the hotness of one of the meteorologist "if you are going to give me complete inaccuracy, at least give me something to look at'
  15. Correcting Newsman Les Nessman on the proper pronunciation of Chi Chi Rodriguez Going back on the air after the Pinedale Shopping Mall was bombed with live turkeys The tactful way he stopped the last record when they switched from elevator music Thanks for memories!
  16. Thrift store find for $3.......Adult ALF mask in perfect condition
  17. Voice of the original Charlie Brown....back when cartoons were simple entertainment Sounds like he had some serious demons going on the past couple years.
  18. Auction wins. I was victim of I don't NEED any of these, but ohhhhh, look at that! Less than $27/each shipped. All sealed except the Rover but the bags inside are still sealed.
  19. No truer words!!!! The superintendent e-mailed me back that he cannot discuss the other child due to privacy laws. I said if an adult would have done this it would be a terroristic threat and the law would have been all over them. Even better, another parent got a call back from the principal that they cannot say if the kid that made the threats is back in school or not. Wait.....the kid IS back in school hence the whole BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH storm!!!! I've told my kids that there are rules and possibly laws in place because of stuff we did as a kid. We certainly didn't threaten to shoot teachers and others. I guess there is no rule of conduct anymore.
  20. In early December, a kid made threats of a bringing a gun to school and threats against a teacher as well as another student. He arrested and became a guest of the county juvenile system. His family tried to claim he's never been in trouble before, honors society, etc but the court disagreed and did not allow home release. Every other school in the area that had similar incidents, the kid is expelled and prohibited from even being on school grounds. Imagine my reaction when one of my sons friends moms texted me that this kid is back in class!!! Seriously!! No parental notice! Absolutely unbelievable!! Guess they don't want that levy to pass in May!
  21. Expensive autograph for not getting any kinda COA verification. I've never paid for an autograph as there was never anyone I wanted to meet that badly.
  22. The Dr mentioned this but he said my BMI is above the upper threshold......translation: I'm too fat to have it done. If I could lost the weight, I may not even need one. The wife did Keto and was very successful.
  23. Anyone else on one? I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in the pre-testing for my knee surgery. I did the home testing and the results were ugly. Friday night I had the in clinic study. The first model (basically plugs both nostrils) was a huge fail as I couldn't get enough air in so I got the face mask which covers the nose and mouth. Not the best for a side sleeper and even worse for a teeth grinder. I messaged the Dr and told him I don't want to proceed with the machine right now so he said he would look at the results and set up an appointment to look at alternatives.
