All day Sunday, Bear started yakking up her food and later any water she drank. We ended up at the emergency vet and the X ray showed something in her stomach. Before moving onto the Ultrasound, we followed up with our regular vet. No movement of the merchandise in her stomach in viewing their X rays so back to the ER vet for the Ultrasound. She had surgery this evening and recovering well. (She is around 12 years old but in excellent health). It was expensive and I know I will never be ready to let her go, but she's my baby. Her roommates are stalking me wondering where she is.

Neighbor told me a few weeks ago there was a momma and baby deer in my back yard but by the time I got to the back door they were gone. Last night, fed the trio and went to let them out for a post dinner bio moment and momma deer was about 40 feet away. She gracefully hopped my fence and the next fence before looking back from two yards away. The dogs never saw the deer but they gave the full yard the nasal appraisal as they knew SOMETHING was on their turf. I check the door for raccoons and squirrels right at the door before I let the dogs out but was not expecting this.

In a previous life, I got stuck being a hotel manager for a year after the GM retired. His wife did the laundry for 116 room hotel. Rita was a wizard in that room as when she took a day off, I had to bring in two people whose combined age didn't equal hers to do what she could do. So as to not get caught short, I asked her if she was considering retirement. As she was loading and explaning how she runs each machine, she tells me that if she retired, she would sit on her butt and die. Or she could go walk the nearby mall but if she had to get dressed and to go out, she might as well come into the hotel. She continued saying I left her to run her world, always knew I was in my office if she needed anything and she got paid for working. Don't have to hit me upside the head.....I got it, appreciated her candor, wished her a great day and went back to my office.

RARE Public Sighting 9C1 Caprice !
HomerS replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There is an annual get together in Indianapolis in early September if you are a fan of the Holden's. As a former owner of a departed G8, I went over last year (just didn't have time this year). Incredible turn out and very gracious host. I really wanted to go this year as the raffle was for a Ute. https://www.facebook.com/groups/outbackinthemidwest -
I got one in a lot of built kits earlier this year. Clean build but the scoop is positioned that I can't get the hood off.

LOCKLAND, Ohio — your tax dollars at work! A Lockland man accused of painting potholes in his neighborhood to warn drivers was found not guilty after a jury trial on Tuesday. Gregory Strole, a 66-year-old retired volunteer Lockland firefighter, was charged with criminal mischief after allegedly spray painting potholes to warn drivers. Lockland fire chief and village administrator Doug Wehmeyer said Strole had been doing the same thing for years and that the most recent incident was the final straw for city officials. Wehmeyer said the case escalating to a jury trial was Strole's idea. On Tuesday, jurors found Strole not guilty of criminal mischief after deliberating for much of the afternoon. There was no debate in the courtroom over whether or not Strole painted the potholes. Rather, both sides argued the purpose behind it. The prosecution argued that Strole knowingly broke the law and did not follow proper procedure. The defense argued that Strole was doing his civic duty and tried to warn other drivers. Strole took the stand in the trial on Tuesday, telling the eight-member jury that he wanted to help drivers avoid costly repairs. Police chief Michael Ott also took the stand and said some of the potholes in question had been fixed, but not all of them (almost year later). After the trial ended, Strole spoke with WLWT about how he was feeling once the verdict was read. "I feel great that maybe they'll learn something from this," Strole said. "Maybe they'll take it and do what they're supposed to. Then they wouldn't have to spend all this money bringing me to trial."

April 2023, I lost Jamie (Aussie) to kidney disease and Brian (Husky/Aussie) to liver cancer two weeks apart. My heart was ripped from my chest as we went from three dogs to one. As I checked the local shelters, I came upon Shasta (Aussie). She was withdrawn as her family dumped her at the shelter as she was herding the kids (um....that's what an Aussie does!) She was so shutdown, they had to bearhug her to bring her out to meet me. She was not really interested in meeting me or what I had to offer. She was five years years old but I was there to meet her and another Aussie that was just a year old. It was love at first sight so I had no need to meet the other dog. She needed me as much as I needed her...... Earlier this week, I had all the fur kids out in the yard and I Shasta (now known as Riley) was sitting at the edge of the steps just watching. She is a little bigger than Jamie was but considerably stronger. I snapped this picture of her just looking down the down with a serious FAFO look. Confidence her breed is known for has been restored!

Happy National Black Dog Day! Bear is a rescue, about 12 years old. She has the personality of the cute little white fluffy dog as everyone falls in love with her. I had never heard about the black dog syndrome (all black dogs are last to get adopted because people just thing they are unremarkable) before her. She was on a county shelter for over a week (11 years ago) and we already had two dogs so I resisted but folded faster than Superman on laundry day when I met her. The photo wasn't staged.....she just got done at the groomers and wife turned on the bun warmers in the seat. She has some tan but some of the coal black is turning gray....welcome to my world!

Tamiya spray cans banned in Canada!!!
HomerS replied to Bullybeef's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd be on board sanctioning Canada for the polar blasts that come down in January/February. Not a winter fan to begin with but then these sub zero temps can be unreal. Bun warmers and steering wheel warmer are one thing I wont be able to give up on a car going forward. -
At a recent swap meet, one of the vendors commented it looked more like Ollie's there than at Ollies's itself.

I was doing facility management for a real estate company when an opportunity opened on another account which seemed for more interesting. The previous person had left the company and I would have been a good fit. I applied for the job and had an interview scheduled but they called a day before and told me they moved the overnight guy to that position. They went on to ask if I would be interested in the overnight position. I said I already fell for the dog & pony show once so I will take a hard pass thanks.

I let them waste their time and let them do their pitch before I tell them we rent. I own my house, but it's more fun to waste their time. One guy kept pushing lawn care....I said I don't even mow the grass so why would I care! (My teenager mows it) Best one was the kid who rolled up on a hoverboard and wanted to sell me pest control. I told I have access to Chlordane....sure its highly toxic but it works. He probably had to look up what that stuff even was.

Made my twice a year for my check because I'm on BP meds. The lady at the desk put me on hold to check to see if I needed any other tests....nope, just the regular check up. Saw the Dr today and she asked why I didn't fast. Um....because YOUR front desk actually checked and told me I wasn't due for other test so I snarfed breakfast burrito and coffee (w/ cream and sweetener). Now they want me to make another appointment to get labs drawn.
