  1. I agree, get the 1/24 scale T/A and just build this one as an R/T.
  2. Chris, you might have better luck putting a post in the "Trucks Wanted" or the regular "Wanted" sections.
  3. That's funny, I'm just getting ready to go to the workbench, nothing good on TV except reruns of "Top Gear" on BBC!
  4. They both tried that when Slixx was still making NASCAR decals back in the late 90s. I think my local LHSs still have some in stock!
  5. Leo, do you know if the 75 ton is with or without the extra dolly?
  6. Jim, I don't know very much on that kit either, other than you are correct that it is a Loadcraft trailer. I've seen a few of the 70s issues on ebay that have Loadcraft on the box.
  7. Everyone should have known in Chicago they were done for when Jim Cantore AND Mike Bettes showed up from The Weather Channel!!
  8. Just wondering, Tom, what part of PA? I live about an hour from Pittsburg and want to make sure it isn't any I sometimes make a day trip for.
  9. You mean on the back of the Kenworth's box?
  10. That may be a nice thing with no markings on the front tires, that is one detail I hated with the Can Do wrecker's tires, the "Goodyear GT Radial" markings!
  11. Sorry it took so long to get back to you Jim, but the height from the "road" to the roof is 5 3/4 inches.
  12. Don't forget the air conditioner in the side!
  13. I think I see a case of the 24 hr flu coming on!
  14. Cecil, us WV people can do that to show where we live, too, but I can't show it here!! I don't think Harry would like "birds" flying here just to show what part of WV I live in!
  15. ...And did you all notice we all have big Fords?!?!?
  16. Uh, Harry, look at mine again, I DON'T have a plow, but I do win the big pickup category!!
  17. Jim, I took measurements for you (and everyone else too ) and the body is 15 1/2 inches long, the bulkhead is 4 1/8 inches as is the height of the rear around the doors, the body in the drop section is 5 3/16 inches high, and the width across the roof is 3 1/2 inches. Ray, the trailer is all plastic. I think the only metal, other than the axles of course , is on the lower cabs right around the opening doors, most everything else is all plastic.
  18. If you have a real vehicle you can!!! This beast laughs at a foot of snow!! Last winter, we had a storm dump about 18 inches here, and this old girl clawed right through it. Hey, I'm fat and lazy and not shovling the whole driveway, that's why 4x4 was invented! Of course this winter I'd be stuck, since the 4x4 isn't working because of a bad u joint. I have chains cut down from a set from a tractor trailer if I need them though!
  19. I was aware of the turbo, if I remember it was a very similar mold to the 78, correct? I would like to still see a non turbo version with the shaker hood like the MPC 10th Anniversary T/A nightmare.
  20. Here in my area, they have been changing the forecast all day! The current forecast is snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain. The big thing here is the possiblity of up to a quarter of an inch of ice tonight, GRRR. Supposedly, everything will change to rain by midday tomorrow. EDIT:I've got my tire chains on standby for my truck if needed!
  21. I have to agree with both of you here, because even though I was taught to help people in need, I was also taught that politeness includes a "Please" and a "Thank You" also. I have sent some parts just strictly on a "I don't need it and it will help you out, don't worry about anything in return." attitude, including the couple dollars on postage and tracking numbers. It just makes me feel good that I might have been able to help a project stay from being boxed back up and stay on the bench and give the builder that critical part they needed. As for your earlier post Skip, I do agree that even though I do get that warm, fuzzy feeling just knowing I helped a fellow builder in need, if I don't get a thanks, I may not be as willing to part with something as easily in the future. Fortunately, everyone I've dealt with here I don't have to worry about that.
  22. I just happened to be a little bored today waiting for the snow, ice, and rain to move in later tonight (YUCK!!) and was checking out a couple New Ray 1/32 scale trucks I picked up at the local Tractor Supply Co. after Christmas and found something interesting. Their cattle trailers in sets like this one are REALLY out of scale! The first tipoff was the HUGE amount sticking up from behind the back of my Freightliner Classic XL condo, I'd guess this thing would be almost 15 feet high! I decided after seeing this, I'd compare it to my AMT Wilson trailer I've been working on with my Ford, and the front and side walls are almost as tall as the 1/25 scale trailer! Here's a few comparison pics of the two, and even the width is not too far off the 1/25 scale trailer. Sure, I know it wouldn't be a drop in replacement, some modifications of two trailers would need done, but at least with some work, they would make a modern bullrack. Concidering the price if you get them like I did at the Tractor Supply store at 40% off the $19.99 price thanks to the after Christmas sale, you're actually paying less or near the same as a new AMT kit. Oh, by the way, just to show how far off this trailer is, the darker maroon colored Freightliner has one of AMT's 1/32 scale Trailmobile reefers on it's back.
  23. Yep they put that new format in sometime before Christmas.
  24. Nice work on both of these. Did you have any other with that bed or just these two? I looked at a few other wreckers and I really like the FLC tri axle with the UniBilt sleeper.
