This is gonna be AWESOME!
highway replied to Custom Hearse's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Even though I figured this was a (cruel) April Fools joke, I did find one thing when I was looking at Revell's website interesting that made me go HUMMMMM. They had a pic of AMT's old 77/78 Trans AM kit (I could tell by the junky Snowflake wheels and the thick T top bar) with the "Smokey and the Bandit" (also AMT's) logo and stating it was 1/25 scale. Now anyone with any sense knows, even though I have seen the recent reissue includes Georgia "BAN ONE" and state flag plates, the Revell Trans Am is 1/24 scale and has the incorrect for the movie car thin T top. Is this going to be a new kit or what?? -
Fruehauf tanker and Love Truck Stop

I think you might be meaning the Country Market buffets that used to be in Flying J's Clayton, unless Petro has gotten rid of the Skillet since I came off the road in Oct! -

Ok, I'm just replying to see if this ends up as a bad April Fools joke or not. I could use a hood for the 79 Trans Am and would like to see it come back. -
Fruehauf tanker and Love Truck Stop
highway replied to tennexican's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Geez, I didn't start driving until 98!! Don't worry, you aren't missing much by not being around where they opened that new Love's, until my wrist took me off the road in Oct and now with a broken back that will probably keep me out of the truck for quite a while, Love's were my last choice to stop. Even though most of the chains don't have much for good food anymore, Love's is not much better than Pilot with the only choice for dinner being fast food. I've only found a couple with a Denny's, and they are old Flying J's that Love's bought after the Pilot/Flying J merger. I will say one thing that was nice getting close to the holidays about Love's, when the were moving in gift items in September, they had some very nice but pricey diecasts of their tankers. I was planning on getting one or two with frequent fueler points, but my wrist injury put the brakes on that! -
Fruehauf tanker and Love Truck Stop

Howard, if I remember correctly, most of the Love's trailers I've seen at the truckstops whenever I would stop there (not really my most favorite chain) were Beall trailers, and Revell AG offered that brand of tank in a kit. As for tractors, they (at the time I came off the road in Oct 2012) were Freightliner Cascadias if I remember correctly. As for AMT offering the name, since that kit is from the 70's, the only markings will probably be only for the ones AMT has already offered the trailer in, the Amoco, Sunoco, Texaco, and Gulf, if I remember them all correctly. Why spend money on new licenses when they probably still have those. Johnny, much has changed since the 70's!! Yes, most of the truck stops still have local distributors bringing in their fuel, but for some reason Pilot/Flying J and Loves do run their own trucks. And I just noticed in that pic my memory is pretty darn good, it's a Beall tanker!! Here's ones just for fun of a Flying J and Pilot tanker too, and I noticed the J tank is a Beall too. EDIT: By the way, all of the trailers I remember seeing ran supersingles in all tire positions, including on the tractor. -
So, does the 1:1 have the same ill fitting doors and trunk as this does??

What Do You Want To See Next?
highway replied to Duntov's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have to say there are quite a few very interesting subjects listed that I agree 150% with, especially a well done 63 split window Vette and any new pickup, especially diesel duallies! A couple of mine are ones that (at least I think) deserve a new more detailed tooling. 1. 74-76 Pontiac Trans Am 2, 79-81 Pontiac Trans Am 3. More modern Class 8 trucks (like Moebius' Lonestar), especially a Freightliner Classic XL Condo or Freightliner Coronado Condo. -
crane truck?
highway replied to The Modeling Hermit's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If it is similar to the truck Casey posted, that is a Gradall (pronounced Grade all) excavator, and they are common even today, specifically in highway maintenance departments. -
Ok then, the Autobots landed LOL!!

I thought maybe there was another Russian meteor.......

A&N model trucks 2012 Freightliner Coronado
highway replied to Mr mopar's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
You know Anthony, strangely I actually like the 34", I have ideas for it already. I wouldn't like a 1:1, though, I'm a big boy and I don't think I'd fit back there! -
Eric even has the frame mounted steps if you want to get into making it that close to the pic. I think about the only thing I haven't seen is a bunk with the windows, maybe that could be the next goody Eric could add to the inventory!

Yeah Marshall, I showed the pic to my better half and she even said you looked familiar to her. Who knows where we probably seen each other, but we must have crossed paths somewhere. I had just remembered too when me and the better half were talking about it, the load that brought me home after I injured the wrist came out of Edwardsville! It was good, in that strange sort of way calling such a thing as a heart attack "good", that you didn't have any injuries from falling out of the truck, which could have very easily happened since that was roughly about the same height I fell down the front steps here at the house from. That is one thing that is worrying me if things do improve with my back enough to work again, just missing the top step or the ICC bumper climbing out of a trailer I could end up breaking it again and be in the same situation I'm in now, or worse. As for being a pinched nerve, it could be and I do have a list of things to tell the doc when I go back again that has been happening since I got out of the hospital. Anywho, I'm looking at the bright side and at least I'm getting up more to get on the computer and I find out more on the wrist on the 18th, and I'm hoping that they can finally figure out what is going on so that I can get back to the bench, because I have a feeling the back will give me plenty of time to be building!

What does "no selling on the forums" mean?
highway replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't see how that is "sales", but I guess I just see things differently. -

Hmmmmm, what brought the change of heart on that Harry, because I remember an instance about a year or so back that makes this statement one of those "the pot calling the kettle black" type of statements. In case you probably don't remember to what I'm referring to, there was a thread in the truck section that was posted by a resin caster popular in the truck section that was posting pics of his new products. We active in the truck section all know how to contact this resin caster, and it was just pics of his new offerings on his website, nothing more. I seem to remember you telling him no selling was allowed and soon the threads went "POOF" to the land of deleted threads. There were no prices, just pics, and still.......... Oh, and did I mention that resin caster also is an advertiser in the magazine itself?? -
A&N model trucks 2012 Freightliner Coronado

Even though I would just like to have a modern Freightliner period, I have to say I would rather see the sleeper version be a set forward 70" condo instead of the small sleeper. -
Hey Mobius, how about....
highway replied to uncle potts's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thank goodness I'm not the only one that annoys, just look at my signature line!! Back on topic, I haven't gotten one of the trailers yet, but even from pics I've seen, that would be an excellent idea. I have already thought of a few uses for the tandems! -
Moebius 53' Trailer
highway replied to bodygaurd's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I would agree, the reefer unit is correct for Optimus Prime, and from the different views I seen in the movie, I believe they did actually use a Great Dane for that trailer.- 34 replies

Well Marshall, since the internet didn't come to a screeching halt by you posting your pic, I'll see if I can destroy it by posting mine!! Of course, I'm the tall, ugly one and that is my fiancee and our former baby in the pic with me, taken the Saturday after the Walcott Truckers Jamboree this past year. I figured I'd post my pic to see if you remember seeing me or me and the better half anywhere, because you do look familiar! Otherwise, not much has changed, the back is still broken and the wrist is still a mystery and I'm still feeling like I'm half the Bionic Trucker with the back and wrist braces!! I do find out in a couple weeks hopefully what is wrong with the wrist, and the back is still healing and hurting like you know what, but at least it isn't hurting as bad as it was and I'm getting used to wearing the brace more and more and trying to spend more time out of bed. The only drawback to that is while I'm sitting at the kitchen table at my fiancee's granddad's using the internet, since the wifi signal won't reach our trailer across the yard, I've found that my legs start falling asleep after sitting for sometimes no more than a few minutes. That never happened before I fell, so I don't know whether it is due to the fracture and should improve after I'm healed or if this is going to be an ongoing problem. If it's an ongoing problem, that is going to be a BIG problem, because if I can't sit for a long period of time without my legs falling asleep, I won't be in a truck again anytime soon! That's all from the now scale truckstop, since I don't have the 1:1 largecar anymore, I have to stick to the little ones!! The back is saying it's time to lay down again!
