  1. Hmmmmmm, like having a pic of the real thing!! For some reason, the big dummy that took the pic only got a nice shot of the passenger side headlight! These are the best one's of the driver's side I have, And no, I can't get a better pic, I no longer have the truck!! On a side note though, to make a 386 Pete like this one, you would also need the ultra cab conversion from Eric @ P&P Resins, not to mention all the 2006 to present interior pieces. http://www.ppvintagekits.com/images/PETERBILT_ULTRA_CAB.jpg
  2. Actually, at least the CH600/613 road tractors I drove had normal run of the mill axles in them, and the FLD 120 kit with the more modern airbags would be the best donor. I don't know if the more vocational (dump or tank straight trucks) CHs would have the more specific Mack top pumpkin axles or not, though.
  3. Hmmmmm,,,,,,,,I thought I'd seen that rig before! I seen it at the Walcott Trucker's Jamboree last summer.
  4. Yep, it was maybe in 2006 or so, which was around the last time the Beall tanker was reissued too. These are pretty strong trailers too, the three cars on the bottom and the middle car on the top of mine are diecasts!
  5. Another idea for the frame stretch is add some extra material to the inside of the framerail. I did that, along with also adding an extra piece of small square tubing to the top of the frame to double as a sleeper mount on my custom Ford that you can find in this thread: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28849 Even though it has been in storage at a friend's house for a little over a year and I haven't seen it since then, I had no problem with the frame sagging before I took it there. LIKE!?!? It is one of those left lane chicken trucks!! CLUCK CLUCK!!
  6. Don't look bad at all so far, Marshall!
  7. Thanks for the info.
  8. Yep, coming in the rebuild. I have a wrist injury and a broken back at the moment, and due to some problems in Dec 2011 all my model supplies are stored at a friend's house until things get sorted out. It was just nice enough being able to work on something, which I hadn't done since Dec 2011!
  9. I'm not sure, maybe one of the Motor City guys can help out, but I know that this kit was also on the SMBC website. Whether it was his and MCRC took it over or are selling it for SMBC, maybe one of them can answer that and give more info..
  10. I have the 72 Ranchero that I know used to be on his site, and it is top notch! I also bought the 351 Cleveland to go with it, and again top notch! The engine even comes with a pre wired distributor and, if I remember correctly, decals for the engine. That is the only this I wish that the Ranchero came with, I don't have the side stripes for the car!
  11. What are you looking for? There are suppliers that specialize in different style decals, so more info would probably get you a quicker response.
  12. Doug, I didn't notice if you had said or not, but are the wheels on yours what comes in the kit?? I have an old wrecker that I used to drive that I plan to build from this kit and the front Alcoa/rear spokes is the setup it had.
  13. I definitely want to see this come together! I would be able to build one I drove for a local company I used to work for.
  14. If you just need some for a build, check out P&P Resinworks. Eric makes these Vortex aircleaners Here is a link to their homepage: http://www.ppvintagekits.com/index.html Click on the resin price list.
  15. That was exactly where this one came from!
  16. Dave......Dave's not here!!!
  17. First thing that pops to mind for me is Jaguar!!!
  18. I got this for a Christmas gift from my fiancee this past Christmas, but have been unable to do much due to a wrist injury and just before Christmas breaking a vertebrae in my back. I finally had a decent day a few days ago that I could stand to sit at the kitchen table and finally assemble it. I didn't do anything special to it, because of the current health problems and past problems leaving all my modeling supplies at this point still at a friend's house and I haven't been able to get them to the new house yet, so I didn't use any paint, glue, or even tools (with the exception of a screwdriver for the 4 screws) to work on this. It was truly a "Back to Basics" build for me, reminding me of the days when I was a kid breaking parts of the sprue and not worrying about seams or sprue attachment points. Of course, after things smooth out, I plan on a complete disassemble and rebuild. I was surprised, after building a few of this style kits, this has been the only one that did not require any glue at all, everything fit and snapped together tightly, with the exception of the driver's side tailpipe. It will need a little reshaping, as it looks as if a hanger has rusted off it. Anyway, enough rambling, on to the pics! The sparkplug wiring is included in the kit. The taillight panel comes pretinted red. The only fit issue in the whole kit, the hanging driver's side tailpipe. Someone's off to the muffler shop!!
  19. Do you know if it will just be tractor decals or some trailer decals too? Even though I know all our trailers were Wabash, I wouldn't mind making a Werner TCU out of the Dane trailer! And I hope the weather warms up soon, get painting!!
  20. Well, if the sleeper isn't big enough for your tastes, get out the knife and do something like this!!!
  21. And here is proof too much is never enough, two Detroit Diesels V12s with 8 blowers!
  22. Hasn't anybody ever heard "TOO MUCH IS NEVER ENOUGH!!!!!!!"
  23. No, most of us don't make the big bucks like you do!!!
  24. Thanks James, but who knows if or when I will ever get to a Petro again thanks to my back.
  25. WOW Chuck, what a question!! It is just such a hard decision for me because I have either had trucks that I drove that are special to me,. just like my 2012 Peterbilt 386 I drove last year with Werner Enterprises. There wasn't anything very special about the truck, just another company owned POS (compared to how I'd spec a rig ) but my fiancee and I had some fun times in that rig while keeping this country moving, like this pic we had taken outside the motel we stayed at in Davenport, Ia while off for a few days to enjoy the 2012 Walcott Truckers Jamboree last July. Of course, that's why it's a hard decision, because just going to Walcott gave me some nice ideas, like this nice Mack! And this face only a mother could love, this 70s Ryder Paymaster.
