Stripping paint from a resin?
highway replied to disabled modeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I also thought that I heard the same for CSC. I seem to remember a friend of mine using CSC and found his resin in a lump, but I could be wrong. Has anyone been brave enough to try Dawn Power Disolver on resin yet?? -
potential paint source; Home Depot alert

Latex won't work Curt. I tried that one time when I was a kid and it came out like a rubber glove, and peeled off in a similar fashion too! -

I don't see where it's nonsense, it's a customer clearly CHEATED OUT OF HIS MONEY! He paid you for a service that in over a year he has not received. Many, not just James, have said they try to contact you and don't hear a peep from you, I guess that is your idea of "due time". I bet you'd be upset if you sent me an order and I said "I'll pay you in 'due time'" and you hadn't received a payment in over a year. The only thing you are busy doing is RIPPING OFF MORE UNWITTING CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE TRUSTED YOU TO PROVIDE A SERVICE YOU ARE NOT DELIVERING!! -

Don, you seem to be in the wrong here, not anyone else! You're rambling on about James not saying anything about the part of the order he did receive, which I know is false because I read his posts where he DID say he received part of the order. Also, I read the part about him SPECIFICALLY telling you this Cougar was for a build he wanted to do for his dying mother. That, in my view, tells me more about your personality than ANYTHING any of these "I ordered this from UNReliable Resin and didn't get it" could say. It tells me that you not only don't care about your customers, but you don't care about people as a whole, just YOURSELF!! I had a case about 20 years ago where I wanted to build a model of the truck my brother was killed in from the result of a traffic accident and I just happened to know Clint Freeman personally from him attending the model club's show that I was a member of. He found out about my plans for the build I wanted to do for my late brother's tribute of his rig that took his life, and you want to know what he did?? HE GAVE ME THE PROPER TRANSKIT FOR NOTHING!! He even made a special trip to one of our club meetings to give it to me, and after pulling me aside and presenting me with the proper parts I needed brought me to tears because of his huge generousity! I'd highly doubt you'd do the same, even in this case! Oh, and James, don't take the pics down, because not only is Don PUBLICLY blackmailing you, and you have plenty of witnesses to that fact, but other modeling forums and groups (and there are quite a few) that I belong to also know your story. I hope you don't mind, but I copied these pics and have posted your problems on all the groups and forums that I belong to, and those posts aren't going ANYWHERE!! -
I have to agree too, I don't see what everyone's problem is with ebay. I've gotten deals on there too, and as someone else said earlier, you just have to shop around. I'd been wanting the old Revell "Midnight Cowboy" for years, but never found one that seemed to be less than $100, but since I have found 3 complete kits, one still factory sealed, for around $25 a piece. At the time I bought the factory sealed kit, there were a couple other factory sealed selling for $75 to $100 each! I shopped, I found, I bid, and I saved money!

I second, third, fourth, and fifth that!! It's nice to have a model company that seems that it truly listens to their customers and what they want to see on the shelves. -

Wow Mr. Most, we're being so formal now!!  I gotta say I'm up for it too no matter what wheels are in it, but it would be nice as an option for once so I don't have to raid those built up junk bins at shows (that sometimes have no truck parts) just for enough wheels for my fancy trucks to have nice wheels on their trailers. Oh, and I have an edit for your post to Chuck, it should read "a NICE trailer to pull"! -

Looks like a big two thumbs up, WAY UP, so far Dave. One suggestion that I know has been made before, but is there any way possible to have both the steel two hole Budd wheels and the 10 hole Alcoas like on the Lonestar included?? The Budd wheels would give that a normal fleet look while those of us like me who like to have fancy trucks would use the Alcoas and throw the Budds in the parts box for later use. Oh, if you need anyone to build a test shot......... :) -
Color suitable for gun metal
highway replied to Kaleb's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Now see what I get for thinking!! I actually thought about that after I shut the computer off for the night after that post, the gunmetal is too glossy to have the "F" flat designation! -
Honestly Mike, unless the curtains have to be blue, I'd repaint the curtains and paint the interior some different shades of tan and beige, and keep the dash black. I would also maybe repaint the seats, too. I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like if I use to much of one color, everything kinda runs together, but different shades seem to "POP" so to speak. Here's a couple pics of my interior of my Ford LTL 9000 using various shades of tan and beige. With the lighter colored seats, they "POP" when in the truck. I feel adding some various shades just help, because this car interior where I only used one color for everything just isn't as exciting to look at.

And also Tamiya Gunmetal, #XF-10 if I do remember correctly. -
Greg, you haven't met my friend that built this! The first time I seen this, I actually asked my friend what he had been smoking and why he didn't share!! Seriously, the story behind my friend's madness that he calls the "Roadkiller" was truly like Austin had described, one thing led to another to another, and in this case it started with him watching "Mad Max" while he was at the bench. He then seen the Testors CheZoom Quickbuilder and the NATO missile set that were both recent show hauls (and I think I actually won the missiles but gave them to him because I didn't build anything but cars at the time) and that started "Roadkiller". A poor unfortunate Star Wars kit gave up the engines for the trunk! My ideas seem to be a little more "tame" than his, such as my 34 Ford Cabriolet that my friend named "10 in 5" for me, since it was just like trying to fit 10 pounds in a 5 pound bucket!! The main reason behind this is the fact my blood runs Ford Blue, and at the time I started this almost 12 years ago, I couldn't stand that the kit had a Chevy engine under the hood. What a disgrace! It started out that it was going to have a Boss 429, but I ended up winning a dragster at a show, so I saved the Stang from losing it's heart and decided blown madness was the way to go! And yes, the blower will fit under the hood!

Wait, even though it's misspelled, am I seeing "REEFER UNIT" in that post!?!? If I'm not seeing things, any idea yet if it will be a Carrier or Thermo King Unit? -
Oh, so now you're calling him stupid just because after being a member here for 3 years and modeling for who nows how long and having questions about an airbrush and maybe not relizing there was a tips section!?!? At one time, that section didn't exist, and maybe he didn't know about it! And if your comment is just about the lack of airbrush knowledge, then I must be dumber than a rock, because in the almost 30 years I've been in this hobby, I've never picked up an airbrush and don't know the first thing about them!

how to replicate stone chip
highway replied to stulee11's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That sounds similar to what I used in the past, but it was actually spray on rubberized undercoating. It had very little texture if any at all to it, and was a rubberish black color, and I'm not sure if it was able to be painted over.
