  1. i like it, what colour are you spraying the body? i personaly think a nice boyd red would suit it.
  2. ok so i was so close to just using cans for this cars paintjob because the green was too thick then it was too thin the the nozzle got clogged and spluttered on it put i wetsanded and it turned out good, also did the effect too, the whole car is going to be like this (once i get the new front end) minus the hood which will be gloss black. i put netting over and made it loose in some spots to make it not perfect, as iv said i want it unique. there are still decals to go on and a numberplate....could anybody give me a link? iv got numberplate decals but all the plastic frames i have are too small, does any company make a metal numberplate? sorry for slight bluryness, my stand broke and i couldn't hold the camera still.
  3. haha my old camera...one that twisty knob on top there will be a few icons on it, look for the the flower one which looks more like a stick with a flame on top and turn it to that, the macro will then auto focus it when you have to take close up pics. E.g. no macro macro
  4. Thanks for the comments guys. Iv decided on the front end....im going to buy a 1/24 diecast chevy stepside truck from jada toys and cut at halfway between the front fender the weld from the inside and bodyfiller on the outside. The front clip of the truck will give me a lower front bumper which is also smoothed..here is link. http://www.toywonders.com/productcart/pc/Jada-Toys-Kustom-Kings-Chevy-Stepside-Tow-Truck-1955-1-24-Asstd-90844IT-95p5957.htm i will simply take of that front chrome bumper and fill in the tiny holes if it has them. it seems a shame to cut up a nice looking diecast but i want this 55 belair to be unique. i will also remove the moulded trim from the belair body once the new front clip is in place. i think the hardest bit will be building a new hood but i may get away with just shortening the belair hood. All for now.
  5. Looks like a good set of projects. Try using macro on your camera (if it has it) so we can can get a better view.
  6. sounds and looks good, are you going to strip the chrome and paint the bumpers green like the stock car or keep em chrome?
  7. Id buy it lol. That front end gives it a more muscley look then the viper front end. keeping my eyes on this one.
  8. After i sprayed the last coat of green and let it cure i noticed alot of missed body work, so...stripped it again, it also gave me a chance to give it a all over sand with 400 grit to give a better suface for the primer. So i got the putty out and puttied over the fuel cap, the grill in front of the wipers, two tiny holes in the hood, two little splits above the headlights and also cut most of the plastic grill and started moulding the surround to the body. Once iv got the grill moulded to the body im going to make it into a pontiac style grill. The inside of the body will be sprayed matte black once the exterior paint and decals are done. I noticed a small dip in the tailgate so i sorted that out.
  9. If this kit has the supercharger with it i will be interested in the supercharger and its parts and with intake for it if your not using it. Theres no difference as far as i can tell between 1/24 and 1/25 engines...the ones from the revell 69 bee kit is a very nice engine, minimal cutting sometimes none required, easy to assemble and all the parts sit flush with each other.
  10. It looks very nice and sleek, such a nice paint job from a rattle can. Im in love with that engine
  11. im not sure what you mean by masters but this college has everything i would ever need, at first i would just try making a resin cast of one of my diecast model then we will see where it goes from there.
  12. lol i was think smaller scale like 1/18 - 1/24
  13. Im september i will be starting another course at college its called 3D desgin art, we get to do welding, airbrushing, casting, everything i like really so once iv got the hang of casting resin i might make a few bodyshells of cars that have not been made as model, for example i want to make a replica of my 1:1 car, a MG ZR, we also get to do milling with CNC and another machine i wan't remember so i will make a metal replica of the engine too. So if any of you guys have requests of body shells that have not been made but you would like just post on here and i might make them and sell them.
  14. xmodsoure and xmodsforum, im a long time member on both, bondo does some great tutorials. Very nice work the car.
  15. The blower hood isn't warped so i could just cut a piece out to fit the blower hole, glue it in, body filler to fill in the gap, then i will have a smooth hood instead of having to spend more money. Also the paint hasn't turned out good so iv taken what i can off and im going to re spray with tamiya titanium silver with a orange clear coat.
  16. this one seems to be one of the "better" ones, all the stock bumpers fit, its just the F&F ones but with a little work i could make them fit if i wanted to use them. hmm...why didn't i think of that iv got some styrene so il cut out the floor and while im at it the front seat mounts as im replacing with buckets and maybe the rear seats, glue the styrene in place add a little putyy then paint anf flock.
  17. I bought this kit a few weeks ago and i think now is a good time to start it. Its the fast and furious model kit but its pretty much the dukes of hazard kit with alot of extra parts alot of which don't fit. The roll cage doesn't fit but that ok because i make my own from scratch every time, the engine doesn't fit but im replacing anyway, the stock hood won't sit flush and its slightly warped, the fast and furious front bumper wont sit flush and the rear bumper just plain wont fit. The body itself is probaly the best amt body iv had, few moulding lines here and there but nothing too bad and i think the best quality part in the kit is the windows lol, clear and shiny id say they were perfect. iv painted the grill but i might cut it out along with the middle section and do the realistic grill mod as seen on BMC, you can see the hood isn't sitting flush on this pic. Iv painted the body in my own shade of green i call it Decs British Racing Green, this is i think the 2nd or 3rd coat wet sanded. I cut the stock exhaust kit off the rear axle because after i finished cutting the excess off there was hardly and exhaust left so its going to be a metal one. I need to know how to get rid of these moulding spots, the ones on the chassis will be easy (dremmel) but the ones one the interior i don't know, i guess i could just put the flocking on the floor now but i dont know if it will show.
  18. Thanks. Got a new airbrush, its duel action and gravity feed just like my other one except as you can see this is trigger operated, im just waiting for adapters for the hose so until then im using the normal one. Got the 4th coat of green on but i ran out of fine paper for so i had to wet sand with 1000 grit, i think 1 more coat to cover all the spots then il do the clear orange, the grill in front of the wipers and the old fuel cap are now filled in and smoothed, i am going to replace the cap with a ford mustang gtr style fuel cap but in place of the old one. Mock up, its going to be about 2mm higher on the front and rear. i dont like the rims in the wheel sleeves, they might be good for a lowrider but this is a race car so im thinking some glass black bbs style rims, what you guys think?
  19. sound like a good idea, thanks, im thinking....orange clear
  20. Haha thanks. So i tried painting the tailgate in hawian met blue from a spray can but the paint was old so it had thickend up so i stripped it again. Iv decided to go with tamiya park green, its a acrylic paint but i never use enamels so i thought i may as well use the paint i have. i primered first then wet sanded to get the primer smooth. Here it is with 1st coat on the original chassis. That blue/gray bar you can see in the middle of the body is the starting point for the cotton bud rollcage lol, i do the same for all my cars, make a custom rollcage and the starting point is always the same.
  21. I like it! Do HOK colours come ready to spray? if not are they water soluble?
  22. Oh my bad...i thought you were just using it to mask off, why don't you try using thin leatherette to give it a more realistic look? You can get it at fabric stores for cheap, only problem is you can only buy it in rolls unless you just ask for cut offs they might have. just an idea but im loving that colour man, you spray it from can or airbrush?
  23. He just put the tape on for masking, as hes making it replica, where hes taped off it going to be another colour.....i think lol.
  24. Wow looks really nice. Think the metallics would go through an airbrush from a can, you know because of the flakes? seeing the bottom of the chassis has given me a better idea on how to build the chassis for my 55 out of metal tubing.
  25. Personaly iv given up with amt, the last 2 kits i got, the body was warped and the chassis wont fit the body, engine won't fit the chassis ect ect so il be keeping my eyes on this to see how it turns out.
