  1. Yes, They are made from 3 small chrome piece's off of a truck kit.
  2. Thank you Danno, Do some 'internet ' shopping, you'll find some. I've seen all kinds this way. It's rather surprising too, as you see an old rusted out fire truck and yet the lights still all look good.
  3. I've used masking tape on the INSIDE of the box before with good results. Keeps 'em closed and you can still get in them.
  4. WELCME BOB. It's always nice to see someone return to the hobby.
  5. If you wanted to do it yourself, you could try some LEXAN. It cuts pretty good with a SHARP saw blade. The silicone should hold it together. I've made a few small ones in the past out of plexi, not show quality, but it worked. PS, Awsome looking truck.
  6. WOW, Awsome. That is one HUGE wrecker. Excellent job on the kit bash of parts.
  7. That is one sharp truck. I can picture it hauling 3 or 4 more standard length KW's..
  8. Thanks Danno, but it's not a Dave Panek light bar. It comes out of the YODEL NYPD model. For me I think its a little to large for 1/24, so I sanded the bottom off of the lens's, about an 1/8 inch, then made the internals myself.
  9. Welcome Dave, from another Dave. You have the same problem as the rest of us. Way to many ideas, and not enough time.
  10. Well, I just think it would be kinda neat to be able to sit down and do things together. Maybe see what they may do with a model, compared to how I did one. I think most fathers would enjoy there children joining in with them on a hobby, I recall building with my dad and how 'close' it made me feel towards him, It was a good time I will always remember. At this point in my life though, it don't look like any of my sons will pick up MY hobby, anytme soon anyway. One is BIG TIME into paint ball, the other boy is BIG TIME into girls....Enough said on that one. , and the girls, well maybe if I built a Justin Beber model........NOT
  11. AWSOME that he helped!!! Looks great.
  12. No, I just wiped it off with an old T-shirt. I probably blew dust off it for 20 minutes before I took the pic.
  13. Thank you very much for the nice comments, glad everyone likes them. I've always had a love for the fire trucks built from the 40's to the 70's. Strange enough though I'm NOT a fire fighter, nor did I really ever want to be. ODD.
  14. That truck looks REAL. Very nice job.
  15. Awsome........So did it win yet?
  16. YES. That light bar looks WAY BETTER. Good choice, nice looking truck.
  17. I see your point Harry, but I'd like to see my children maybe take up this hobby BEFORE I take a dirt nap. But that remains to be seen.
  18. Cool, I look forward to seeing it.
  19. I wasn't very clear , It won 1st place that year, it was my third year in a row with a first place win in my category. Thank's for the nice comments, I really don't regret giving the model away, as it went to a friend , plus the model had a somewhat personal meaning to him and his family.
  20. Here is the ONE and ONLY rusted out model I have ever did. Building fire related models, It's hard NOT to want to make them all shiny, but this was my attempt.
  21. Here's a 1924 ALF, That started life as the Beverly Hillbillies kit. Scratch built body.
  22. Yea, your right Harry, but it looks cool . Thanks.
  23. Here is a 1941 Chevy fire truck I built. The body on this one is all scratch built. I won my 3rd first place with this truck in '08, then gave it away to someone who had eye balled it all day. 1/32 scale Mack snap kit. Added details. 1/32 scale Aurora California fire truck. Built box stock.
