  1. How 'bout Dukes Drive in on Harlem and 78th (?)?
  2. MCW and Black Gold also has some great colors in rattle cans, however they may be a bit pricey. Yes over the years, the cost of building a model car kit has gone up. Spray paints, photo-etched parts, resin parts, decals, etc. It is still fun and may people enjoy this hobby of model cars.
  3. Welcome Tom as I had worked in Oak Lawn back in the mid-60's doing the construction work on the new schools at 106th & Cicero and also 106th & Central Aves. I believe. This is a good place to be.
  4. Awesome work on that Mopar street machine.
  5. I would ask for a strawberry/banana whipped cream pie.
  6. Like Mopars? Mopars in the Park Show this Sunday (June 23rd) in Fox Lake, 1/4 mile north of the Ingleside Dog 'N Suds.
  7. In the summertime, I usually end up painting car bodies inside the air conditioned house while my better half is a work. Don't know what I'll do when she retires?
  8. Thanks for the info Greg and may he R.I.P.
  9. Those were the good ol' days and I remember them well.
  10. You want reference photos, check out the cruise night tonight at the Kenosha Tilted Kilt on Hwy 50 near 74 Street.
  11. Looks like another one for the "pile" of kits waiting to be built.
  12. The only kit I would probably get from that list is the D&M '62 Corvette gasser as I've seen that car a few times and hopefully I'll build it instead of just throwing it on the "pile."
  13. Good to hear as I'm running out of kits to build. Yeah, right.
  14. Yes, it's a beautiful car as I've seen it at the Chrysler Museum back in '02. I just picked up some of that bronze color paint last week as well.
  15. Or you can just spray Testors Dull-Cote over the plated wheels for that aluminum look. It also works great on plated Moon tanks and front bumpers that you want to look like aluminum as well. Moon tanks are spun aluminum and never chromed anyways.
  16. Nice job on the early dragster!
  17. If I wrote down all the stupid things I have done over the years, it would take a LOT of paper. Just remember that we ALL do stupid things at one time or another, whether we admit it or not.
  18. To ALL dads and grandpas, may you have a very Happy Father's Day.
  19. Those living in northern Illinois, check out the Attack of the Plastic thread above in the Contest & Shows section. It should be a great time, and it's coming up in mid July.
  20. Those living in the southeastern part of Wisconsin, be sure to check out the Attack of the Plastic Show coming up next month and listed in the Contest & Shows forum above.
  21. Your dios are awesome and it was great for you to put them on display and promote our hobby. Great job!
  22. You can check out some of the models at last years show in the June issue of the "other mag" starting on page 48.
  23. I had a 1:1 '64 Chevy pickup back in the 70's only it had a "stepside" bed. After I blew the 6 cylinder motor, I put in a 350 block with an L88 cam, Holley spread bore carb, Hooker headers, and a dual point dizzy. It also had a four speed tranny which came out of a wrecked Nova as well as the engine did also. The truck was a rust bucket, but lots of fun, and got me pulled over by the local Barney Fife's a couple of times.
  24. Model Car Contest and Swap Meet on Sunday July 14th from 10 am to 3 pm at Lake Lawn Lodge Resort 2400 E. Geneva St. in Delavan, Wisconsin. So come on out and enter the contest, buy stuff at the swap meet, and enjoy the car show on beautiful Lake Delavan. Bring your camera too!
