  1. I don't think you'll really ruffle any feathers. They may wonder why a 5-year old wasted a kit, but that's about it.
  2. Why do we never see posts that start with "In ModelMartin's defense...", or "In Don Holthaus's defense...", or "In Norman Veber's defense..."? Why is it always Reliable Resin?
  3. Very nice work. The dragsters are beautiful with those wheels.
  4. Man, that is neat. Your work is always interesting.
  5. IMHO, the best looking BBC out there is in Monogram's Toni Foti LAPD Pro-Mod Camaro. It has the ultra-cool (and rare in the real world) Milodon cast aluminum valve covers. I bought several kits just for the engine. A really nice effect is to paint the depression around the letters in body color, then cover that with liquid mask and paint the valve covers with aluminum metalizer. Peel off the liquid mask for some really trick valve covers.
  6. Wow. That thing's got a face only a mother could love.
  7. Did you see the old Fine Scale article on turning that plane into "Roto-Finish"?
  8. I don't believe the issue is people not caring. I believe it is, as one poster put it, you don't flare the fenders on a '57 Chevy. I opened this thread to say exactly that. It looks really unorthodox. But hey, if that's what floats your boat, more power to you. Having said all that, I was also going to tell you what I learned from Mark Gustavson's old "Custom Clinic" series; glue a thin strip of plastic to the wheel cutout and fair it in with putty, although this is really more for new fender lips rather than flares.
  9. The only limit to what you can do is your imagination. Last night I machined away the housing of a 1/48 aircraft supercharger so I could drop the impeller into another housing for a different plane. I'm debating whether or not to mill a slot for the exhaust stacks on the new plane I'm building. The fuselage side is very thick plastic and a mill would make a nice, smooth slot for the exhaust. I have seen other people mill hatches into aircraft and tank models. Setup had to be a pain for a 1/16 tank hull, but it was apparently worth it.
  10. But don't tell anyone. Seriously- I HATE lifted trucks. I can't stand looking into their headlights when I'm driving my car. I wish LEOs would enforce a headlight height law. Some are lifted so high as to be a hazard WRT to forward visibility.
  11. According to "me", grilled cheese sandwiches with hamburger dills inside are awesome, but he didn't ask about that, either. As far as I know, the Challenger LSR is not scheduled for reissue, but like Dave said, check eBay and post a "Wanted" ad here.
  12. Looks more like an Isdera Imperator 108i to me
  13. You know, the coupe that Jo-Han issued in the 1960s. I tried Googling, but I keep getting other 500Ks or race cars that Carraciola drove.
  14. Well we've come a long way from banks being forced to make risky loans, haven't we?
  15. Are you the Madd Fabricator? Your CAD (cereal aided design) work looks familiar.
  16. Nice work. I saw the same kit at my LHS and wondered about making a lead sled. Convert to 4-door, full fadeaway fenders, add a little chrome. I have to say, it looks really cool as a stocker.
  17. No, Harry. It was nothing but greed on the part of the lenders. They didn't need any arm-twisting by the government.
  18. No. I don't remember. Can you provide a cite to back up your claim that banks were forced to make risky loans against their will?
  19. It's only the engine that can't be resold. Anything else can be sold. What Joe did is called theft. He took something without paying for it. As far as junkyard owners getting upset, all they have to do is say No when a dealer calls and asks them to pick up a clunker. No one will make them take a car with the most valuable parts destroyed.
  20. It's supply and demand. If someone has a supply and you have the demand, he can get what he wants. You can say no, but if he's the only one offering it, you'll pay or do without. At $40, nobody is getting rich.
  21. Be aware that Tamiya clear w/pearl has some blue in it. Not tint, but in the pearl powder itself. I was not aware of that when I sprayed some on a candy red Mercedes. You could just get some pearl powder and mix it in some clear.
  22. The book I have is by Kenneth E. Walton. I need to find the White book.
  23. I got a book about the Offy which showed several with superchargers. I think it's a pretty neat idea so I'm building one. Engine is 1/8 scale from TDR. Supercharger is scratchbuilt from Evergreen styrene. Some machining, some hand shaping.
  24. Well that sounds like a great business plan. If you don't want comments, don't discuss it in a public forum.
