  1. I could make them fit 1/24 scale wheels without a problem. I would make these as a complete set (steer wheels, inside drive wheels, outside drive wheels). I have these drawn up in CAD, and am making a few finishing tweaks to them, but I would need to pay someone to make 3D printed versions for me to make a mold of. I would need more people to show interest in something like this before I could invest in making these.
  2. Would there be any interested in some alcoa Freightliner rims in 1/25 scale?
  3. Upload the images to a hosting site such as photobucket, then post the link to the images. Are you talking about pickup truck tires or big rig tires? If you are talking about big rig tires then I feel like there is still a market for quality tires out there. I'm actually in the process of casting some as we speak, I started working on the molds last night. There is a limited supply of good aftermarket tires out there, so I figured I would just make my own.
  4. Thanks guys! The frame is going to be dark blue once I get to that.
  5. I just painted another one yesterday, I should have taken photos of the process. For this one I sprayed the whole cab dark blue: Then I taped off everything that I wanted to stay dark blue, then did a coat of clear to seal in the tape. Once that was dry I sprayed the whole thing very light blue. I then taped off the areas that were to be light blue stripes (fat one in the center and the thin ones right next to the dark blue stripes). I again sprayed a coat of clear, then I sprayed the medium shade of blue. Let it all dry and unmasked it and this was the end result: I used the same method for this hood. I used pink as the base color, masked it off, sprayed the whole thing silver, masked off the thin stripes, then sprayed the whole thing red:
  6. Haha, it actually is! I cheated a little bit and cut a template out of tape so both sides are exactly the same.
  7. Thanks guys! I didn't use decals, just paint.
  8. After a brief break from building while I moved into my new house and settled in, I am finally back to building when I have time. My Peterbilt build is still half done, but I had an urge to start another K123 the other day. I wanted to start with the cab first, so here is where I stand after the initial paint job.
  9. I'm not all for computers driving cars, but the general population are far from safe when it comes to driving. I would feel safer if a large percentage of the population wasn't able to drive anymore. Just consider a few statistics on the average American driver: -Around 44,000 people are killed each year in car accidents in the US -On average 10,220 people are killed in drunk driving accidents in the US each year -On average 350,400 people are injured each year in drunk driving accidents in the US each year -17 Million Americans admit to driving drunk at some point -The average convicted drunk driver has driven drunk 80 times before his first arrest -Each year there are 1.3 Million car accidents involving cell phones in the US So statistically speaking, computers driving the cars would most likely be much safer than letting the general population do it. Kind of like flying a plane, pretty safe when you leave it up to a select few pilots with the help of computers (yup, the pilots are not controlling jumbo jets the majority of the time). Let the general population fly their own planes and see how safe it remains.
  10. I'm a fan of using the stripe color as the base coat (in this case red), then masking off the thin stripes, spraying some clear, then spraying the other colors with a coat of clear between each color. This is how I got the thin red stripes separating the shades of blue on this KW:
  11. When you spec a brand new truck from a manufacturer, the wheelbase will be measured from the center of the steer axle to half way between the tandem axles. This is how it is done in the US at least, I know some other countries are different.
  12. Looks great! What are you using for the air cleaners?
  13. I've used Easy Off oven cleaner in the past. I sprayed the cab and put it in a sealable bag for a few hours. Every couple hours I gave it a scrub with a brush and sprayed some more on. The paint was completely gone by the end of the day.
  14. Thanks guys! The engine is from the kit and then modified by me. I am going for a C16, though I know it is not perfect. I scratch-built the valve cover, moved the air compressor, moved the turbo, and changed the timing gear cover on the front a little. I'm hoping once it is in the truck it will look alright.
  15. Just painted the hood tonight. I will have to touch up a few of the stripes, but this is the essence of the design.
  16. Looks great! What did you use for the marker lights along the bottom of the cab? I'm looking for lights just like that on a build I am working on.
  17. Engine got a little color today. Going to add a little weathering to it before it finds its way into the frame.
  18. Hmm, I wonder what this will be?
  19. Thanks! For the grille I used some photoetched stainless steel mesh from Plano model products. They call it the "apex pattern".
  20. Today I started a new project. I am planning on a 379 pete, but I'm not sure exactly what direction to take it. I have been trying my hand at some resin casting over the last few days, and decided to make my own Peterbilt rims to cast in resin. I'm happy with the overall look of the rims, and that made me want to build a truck to put them on. I already messed up this front rim because I was too anxious to mess with it before the paint was fully cured. I may end up stripping the paint and fixing it. I have popped a few out of the mold so far, so I could always just paint up a different one. I had a Revell snap kit 359 Pete kicking around, so I decided to try my hand at converting it to a 379. I reworked the grille and headlights a bit to make it look more like a 379. I modified the fenders a bit as well to make them look less 359-ish. I am also in the process of lengthening the hood so this truck will have a 127" BBC.
  21. Thanks! I think my next project will be a Peterbilt 379. I'm not sure if this will sit behind it or if I will make a different trailer for it.
  22. Thanks guys! I finished it up tonight. Here are the finished pictures. I'm still deciding if I should scratch build a spare tire rack to put under it. For now it is done I suppose. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=88458
  23. I can't believe how quickly I finished this one! This is an awesome kit with tons of detail. I made a few modifications to make it more my liking however. I shaved 2' off of the length (well, 2 scale feet) and scratch-built the rear doors and tail lights. I moved the glad-hands/electric plug to the center of the trailer, I scratch-built a Carrier reefer unit, and I added 5-hole steel wheels.
