  1. When I look at the new kit announcements by model makers for 2015 I can hardly get a complete overview. Revell is attacking with the Del Rio. Moebius is detonating a bomb with their 1961 Catalina. Galaxie made a strong comeback with the '48 Coupe. ROG is preparing the BMW I8 and Porsche 918, and behold, a C7 Corvette in the pipeline. Aoshima is going ahead with Italian super cars. Ebbro has been releasing a French classic after the other. And finally, Tamiya showed a brand new MB 300 SL. Each time I think about I feel like thanks God for letting me live until 2015. However, the question is, did the model makers finally see the light, and we should expect this trend to persist, or is 2015 nothing but the exception that confirms the rule?
  2. And there is the 1/16 version also for those who cannot wait. Judging EBBRO's strategy with the R4 it seems they love to fill the gaps. I hope other versions like a convertible and DS21 will follow (I am greedy to wish these things even before the basic kit is released, I know). But if they come with an SM it will the hit of the century.
  3. I hate to repeat the same criticism over and over again, but the Diablo is probably the most 'kitted' car in history. There are kits by Fujimi, Italeri, Monogram, Heller and AMT. Couldn't Aoshima find a different subject to cover? What about a Gallardo Superleggera or, although not my favourite, a Huracan? At the same time I have to praise them for the Sesto Elemnto, again, not my favourite but new subjects are always welcome.
  4. Who said Tamiya should follow with another Aventador? I said when they were racing to make an Aventador, meaning something new and desirable, Tamiya were doing the F86 duo. Who said I do not want to see a lot of classic Ferraries before the FF? But an FF or a Porsche 918 should have the priority to the F86 twin, the LFA or the Aston Martin. And BTW, repeated subjects are not Tamiya-specific sendrom. Lately Revell came out with another 2CV and a mini, but never cared to make a variant that never appeared before, like a country man/club man, or 2CV van. Thanks God we have Ebbro. Fujimi made the Enzo years after Tamiya already saturated the market. Aoshima repeated the 350Z but no one made a convertible. I know these releases may have some improvements compared to the previous versions, but wouldn't it be better t omake a totally new subject rather than editing an old one. I like and welcome the new version of the SL, but frankly I would have appreciated a Pagoda, a Facell Vega or a Lancia Aurelia much more, or if it has to be a 300SL, then it should be the Pan American winner.
  5. Nissan skyline GT-R 35 - made by Fujimi, Aoshima and Tamiya -> repeated subject Ferrari Laferrari - made by Revell (I do not really remember who announced it first) -> another repeated subject While Fujimi and Aoshima were racing to release a Lamborghini after the other, and while there are not a single Ferrari FF kit available and they release the F86/BRZ twin -> It would be surprising if someone finds an F86 more exciting than an FF or an Aventador.
  6. Ah... Mr. Tamiya has finally seen the light, and stopped silly tradition of making silly or repeated subjects. Chapeau Tamiya-san. I doubt it will be more detailed than Italerie 300 SL convertible and gull wing. But I hope (and am confident) the parts fit will be superior. Hopefully Tamiya-san will not disappoint me. After all it will be no less than 50 or 60 Bucks.
  7. I hate to spoil the fun but the JF body trim is wrong for a Ranchero. '57 Rancheros had the Custom 300 trim rather than the Custom's. If JF has waited for a couple of months until the announced Del Rio is released, he would have been able to have the correct base for a correct Ranchero trim. Nevertheless I like your work.
  8. Did they build an equivalent to this car in Canada? It would be interesting to build the Canadian version if it existed. And the same for the Custom.
  9. No need for speculations now. Star Models sells '54 Country Squire conversion kit. Sadly no chrome parts: http://www.resinrealm.net/STAR%20Models/54_Country_Squire.html
  10. "I wanted something that is not so common and I decided to go with resin." What about 1954 grill and bumper? It came across my mind after I doubled the order for that resin body. The Modelhaus offers the necessary parts, but lack of pictures always kept it for a later time.
  11. Pictures are a major problm with the Modelhaus. But since the kit in question is not own development, expect a faithful copy of the original promo with excellent quality. Perhaps the wall thickness is increased here or there to improve the rigidity, but other than this I do not think you will be disappointed. I have not seen that specific Modelhaus kit. What I can speak of is the MCW Catalina: http://www.mcwautomotivefinishes.com/resin/60pontcatht.jpg Except for the lack of chrome parts an excellent kit, both quality and accuracy wise.
  12. Wow.... it is going to be a busy year for me, at least as far as buying is concerned.
  13. I would rather get JF resin conversion for 20 $ instead similar to what this guy did (I know he is here watching like big brother ): http://public.fotki.com/zelkam/stock/ford-1957-sw/
  14. and when I first saw this car I thought Klingonian attack ship
  15. I love following conversion and scratch building, and I love the '65-'70 GM full size too. I do not want to spoil your enthusiasm but did you consider the MCW Biscayne?
  16. For some reason I do not like two tone schemes on 67-68 Chryslers. As a factory stock fan, I also think era specific, or representative, colors are the best choice. This rules out basic colors like white, black and red, as well as modern colors (well, we have mostly gray tones and black nowadays). Out of those in this category I would vote for gold.
  17. Did not notice the "only". Thanks for the clarification. But it must have been a very rare option because I have not seen a picture of a '57 Ford with such a color scheme.
  18. I have enough Countaches, and another 5000 QV is the last what I am looking for. The Aventador is certainly interesting.
  19. "Different color on roof only $25.00 option" I did not got that point right. Does this mean two-tone for $35 and another $25 to make tri-tone?
  20. The best thing it will be agreat doner for Jimmy Flintstone's Country Sedan and Country Squire bodies, and certainly the 1959 Country sedan.
  21. R&R made a 4DR '64 Ford with interior. Despite all expected inaccuracies it would be closer to reality than a JF phantom.
  22. I want to build a diorama of the lot . Where can I get suitable models??
  23. Here is a picture
