  1. What I would go for are either: Silver Mocha + Inca gold. Unique and period specific: http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/7591009 Or dark/light blue or green combinations. http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/7591009 Here are the possible stock two-tone combinations for the 1957 Ford: http://1957ford.com/asp/gallery.aspx?catmstrid=10&catdetid=41 I have seen a beautiful fairlane on the internet painted duskin tan and dusk rose, but I could not fine this combination in any official Ford document. But for your customized Ford I would go for candy red or metallic purple
  2. I really do not understand what is the problem there..... You love model building go ahead.... you are disturbing nobody, you are annoying nobody, and therefore you do not have to care about what anybody else is thinking. The only negative point I see about model building in genreal (not only car), it is exteremly individual and time consuming. You spend hours and hours locked with your parts and tools, which may turn you to an authist at the end.
  3. Ladies and Genlemen (do we have ladies here?), The discussion started with how die-cast models get their high gloss finish and was answered fully by Art Anderson. It turned to be "you cannot beat high-end die casts finish no matter what you do", which was neither supported by a technical nor a logical proof. Finally it drifted by Mr. President of Russia to die-cast vs styrene. Although the two latter points are interesting, I think it is better if we stick to the original subject, and those who want to discuss a different topic can start dedicated threads.
  4. I am speechless......you have extra terrestrial skills. Are you sure you are human??
  5. Very nice. You could reduce the project costs by ordering a '72 grill and bumper from the Modelhaus directly.
  6. Did you clear coat the paint? If yes, what did you use? Tamiya acrylic? Thanks
  7. Revell of Germany started an online platform for customers' suggestions. I proposed the '57 Ranch and Del Rio wagons, and the Ranchero as well as several other models. Take a part in the poll and who knows, perhaps we can see it one day. Ranch Wagon: http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/3208/ Ranchero: http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/3209/ Otherwise there are the Flintstone's Country Sedan (that can be a good start for a conversion into a Ranch wagon): http://www.jimmyflintstonestudios.com/viewitem.php?productid=465 and Country Squire bodies: http://www.jimmyflintstonestudios.com/viewitem.php?productid=476 Here is a conversion WIP to 9 passenger version: http://public.fotki.com/zelkam/stock/ford-1957-sw/ and the Modelhaus reproduction of Revell's ancient Country Squire - designed for Revell Ranchero kit: http://www.modelhaus.com/index.php?c=4106&p=68716 http://drasticplastics.proboards.com/thread/3548 Finally, as a side note for those who might be interested, Modelhaus offers resin conversion of AMT '57 Fairlane to Custom (I guess it has been cancelled now) and Custom 300, http://carmodelingcorner.com/mip/Modelhaus_1957%20Ford_Custom_300.htm http://www.modelcarsonline.com/Galleries/FoMoCo/1957%20Ford%20Custom%20300%20Sedan/1957%20Ford%20Custom%20300%20Sedan.htm and also 1958 Custom 300: FOTKI links do not work A re-production of SMP '58 Wagon is also available: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=24562&hl=%2B1958+%2Bsurf+%2Bwagon
  8. I always hated it when model companies offer top of the line models. Revell did well with the '57 Chevy 150 and Ford Custom. But sadly both kits come with mighty V8 engines with no option for a small engine to match the low trim level of the car. Does anyone knows where I can find a suitable 6 cylinder for this kit< and also for the Chevy?? Moderators, feel free to move the comment if you think it is inappropriate for this category.
  9. Hi Jeff, Do you have more photos? either parts or finished model??
  10. Thanks both for your reply. What do you think of the roof? It seems too bubble-like similar to the coupe rather than the sleek roof of a 4DR sedan.
  11. Did anyone see this in real? http://www.motorcityresincasters.com/4door_huson.htm
  12. Trumpeter 60' thing is a waste of time to build. Did you consider butchering it to donate parts to this project? Bad as it is, but the Trumpeter interior will be certainly better than the promo tub. However, I cannot recall right now how different the 60' seat trims from the 1959 model.
  13. hmmmm... it exceeded 1200 now. For two weeks less than 200 votes and more tha 1000 in 24 hours!!!! Strange, isn't it?
  14. There is something fishy about this poll. I made something like 35 proposal for new kits. Most of them are 1/25 & 1/24 car kits. Among those I proposed a suggestion for the Brasillian VW SP-2. The idea had moderate acceptance of about 200 votes until last night, but when I checked it a few minutes ago I found 838 votes. This means something like 600 voted for this idea over night although it has been there for two weeks and recieved 200 votes only.
  15. E X C E L L E N T However, if I may criticise, the H&E Cadillac had a normal square wagon back, not the sporty Nomad back you used.
  16. Dear All, Anyone here with experience with the MCW '54 Hudson Holywood? As far as the pictures are concerned, the roof seems to be inaccurate. I am interested in the opinios of those who had a closer look at the kit.
  17. Do not do it. The C- pillars of the MCW roof are not symmetric.
  18. I thought we, those who build model cars I mean, belong to a lunatic fringe Well, I guess we will never know what kind of people are participating in the voting. These is the way survies are.
  19. Well, the iconic Jaguar MK-X got 2 votes, Rolls-Royce Camargue 5 and Mercedes-Benz S-Class W-126 3 votes in one day. Although these are cars that never been kitted in 1/24 scale before, they are behind the mentioned '57 Fords and '50 Studebaker. A Mercedes 280-SL and Citroen DS got 240 and 93 votes only after six or seven weeks. You see, it is not a matter of US vs. European cars, it is a matter of different taste than ours, or mine at least.
  20. Unbelievable!! almost no response for '57-59 Rancheros, and '57 Ranch & Del Rio wagons. Now I understand how BMW can sell its Z4.
  21. Take care not to duplicate ideas. The page design is not the best and you can easily oversee suggestions made by others. It happened to me twice. We, the cars guys, are too few compared to fans of other topics so we should not diffuse our votes.
  22. Finally, a kit manufacturer decided to listen to customers. Revell-AG has established an online voting platform for new kits. The votings for cars are really behind aircrafts and military kits. Everyone can make suggestions and others may vote for it. http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/
  23. Everyone is free to decide whether to make a web site or not, as I am free not to buy a cat in the sack. Pictures would have helped me to avoid the disappointment I had with some of Modelhaus products, and have indeed assisted me in the decision not to order the above mentioned Caprice kits. And who is Norm Veber by the way?
