  2. getting there, but it seems more fun to start another.
  3. best of two worlds? http://www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/index.php
  4. most use - the workhorse - of the shop
  5. bench hook (6" x 6" +/-) gets a bit of use. 1/2" copper tube allows me to use it at angles from the seated position at the desk.
  6. I've seen that trick before. I think it's good to know how to do something different ways. circumstances can dictate the best one to use. made this magnet table by laminating (2) pieces of Baltic birch (12" x 18") and a sheet of 16 ga. galvanized sheet. routed the edges with carbide bit. brackets mentioned above; magnets from big box store cabinet hardware department with holding bracket muckled off. ubiquitous cigar box holds other junk to shim & block while glue sets. don't use it a whole lot, but it does become handy at times.
  7. I think that's what spoils the illusion, especially on what gets used for "boots". looks like garden hose compared to fine plug wires. I've ordered parts and am going to try these (from the cylinder above). if the 1/35 scale guys can do it .... he says in fine print ...
  8. thanks; I've got a flathead waiting to have its heads drilled!
  9. very cool. I've wanted to get one of these kits but can't justify "one more" just now. always thought they could be much more than the box art depicts. Q: how did you get the wood grain? and, is Surf Fare a specific company or one of your creations? thanks

  11. although at second blush, maybe this would work? "... a nod is as good as a wink to a blind horse ..."
  12. as long as the Chain Gang is on the job: https://sdp-si.com/eStore/Catalog someone might find this helpful if they use the search function in the future (I think they might be a tad big for bicycle chains)
  13. following along here. Cub Scout den-mother hauled eight of us screaming monsters around in a wagon just like this.
  14. thanks for that link. know how sometimes you'll see something - a cocker spaniel for instance - and notice it for the first time? now that i'm "in the market" for a hobby vise, they're popping up like dandelions. saw one in the big box store, and the same one is less than 15$ @ amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Bessey-BVVB-Vacuum-Base-Vise/dp/B0057PUR88 i'll probably end up with a panavise based on user feedback, but it's fun to see the options.
  15. hair, hell; looks like that Wave just got a manicure!
  16. nice looking leather; could you share its source? sounds like you would be more confident starting another cushion, and that in itself might make the rest of the project better. I know if I slip over something no matter the end result, my eye always goes to the part "I could have done better".
  17. the model plane guys take this to the max: http://www.ww1aircraftmodels.com/page47.html Wingnuts plane kits are generally 1/32 scale.
  18. any chance you could share a good way to make spark plugs? and attach wires without boots? like the old Rajah screw terminals. thanks
  19. I have photo etch frets with 1/35 scale flat chain but don't think it would read well (Eduard or Aber). grandt line & northwest shortline have real delrin roller chain, but don't know if its size would work for you. http://www.swiftsixteen.com/productDetails.php?productID=111 http://www.grandtline.com/ http://www.nwsl.com/NWSL_Online_Catalog.html
  20. 2 mm is about 1.89" in 1/24 scale*. even if prototype frames would be okay with this, you might want to go a little bigger & smaller on different parts of the frame for visual interest. for example, if you're making the full door panels part of the frame, I'd use something smaller for the infill members just so it doesn't appear too much of a mass. paint also adds thickness, so take it into account, too. * http://www.metric-conversions.org/length/inches-to-millimeters.htm
  21. R&C Dream Truck has nothing on you; nice job getting everything to fit. http://public.fotki.com/Rikster/11_car_photos/beautiful_custom_cars/watson_custom_cars/rc-dream-truck-pain/p9130038.html
  22. .040" = 1" in 1/25 scale this piece would be 1" x 1/2" in scale. you might want to reduce the height with a sanding stick (400 grit). http://www.plastruct.com/Pages/OnlineProductDetail.lasso?-op='eq'&CCode=MRH-40
