if you're like a "detail-fiend", check out this '40 post on the Jalopy Journal: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=25733 -
passing thought or experience? (I'm okay with it either way - I got my decals from someplace else, anyway!)

I think y'all'r doin' a great job. but seriously .... if you don't want criticism, either post a disclaimer at the beginning of your thread, or don't post at all. you're always going to leave feeling hurt or slighted. it's the nature of the beast. can we skip the Nitpicking & Criticism Thread for February? maybe all the even months? so then it could just be Jan., Mar., et cetera.

filling the sinker marks correctly
southpier replied to minkos's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
is there a depression on the underside which needs to be filled? when you sand, are you sanding with something (piece of anything with paper wrapped around it) to distribute the grit over the entire area, or with your finger concentrating the pressure in the immediate area over the depression? in effect just making a smooth depression. -

ha ha. guess you've never been to the Apponaug Color Shop (I think it's Apponaug Hobbies, now) in Apponaug, RI. 30 years ago, looking for stripwood the owner's son told me "we don't carry that any more because no one is crazy enough to buy it." there you go; another satisfied customer! internet business is thriving for many reasons. -
I don't think I mentioned anything about disabilities. morbid obesity (I believe considered at 20# over target weight) is something which is preventable. it's quite often brought on one Snickers at a time. then the additional weight affects joints, stamina, and other abilities, which snowball and then we have type 2 diabetes. can't see it on the outside, but it's there. the "I can't help myself" argument doesn't hold water; usually it's a choice matter. glad I forgot to mention those who buy lottery tickets - instead of toothpaste.

we should hold off until the alcohol troubled chime in (after the football game). that slap on the hand still stings, huh?

how did you get to 360 pounds? i don't think overweight people are riding around because they're lazy, i think it's because they eat ho-ho s and mountain dew rather than have an apple and walk up the stairs. it's not lazy, it's bad judgment. and just like all shoppers paying for shoplifters, we all end up paying higher insurance rates because of societal obesity.

my observations from yesterday's show: dealers were not giving any deals. people too fat to walk were using electric scooters. smart folks brought trolleys so they didn't have to lug their BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH around. no one needs beer at 10:00 am. toilet humor should be left there, not printed on stickers, pins, & shirts. knife, hatchet, & samurai swords should not be sold to anyone under 100. there's certainly a lot of BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH in the world. and more people who think they need to bring it home.

Bench Time = Therapy
southpier replied to MsDano85gt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
when I was in second grade (7 or 8?) - I had to beg my parents to stay up until 8:30 on Tuesdays so I could watch the Red Skelton Show. -
i think the engine stands can afford to be specific, i.e., to hold whatever engine you're using it for. i have started a series of mock-up engines to be used as placeholders while i work the rest of the car around them at the design phase, or for selecting something given other constraints. anyway, started with the ubiquitous AMT in-practically-every-kit engine stand, and grafted on enough bits to hold it in place. i understand 2 is not exactly a series, 1 really since the first one is unmodified, but try to get into the spirit here .....

or you could put it aside and work on something else for awhile.

interesting. I've come to grips with internet research, sketching & rendering, buying supplies, even clearing & vacuuming the workbench, as part of modeling "administration" and as such, a support activity which further allows me to get back to "the Zone".
