  1. you might consider submitting that to the Drastic Plastic MCC site. the two '69s on their site have completely different instruction sheets.
  2. it's nice to be able to grab the correct tool without rummaging. light is important as is comfortable seating, although I don't mind getting up every 15 or 20 minutes - supplies out of reach a few feet away encourage that.
  3. I won't donate but will steal the spotlight idea. I will buy or trade for a desert water bag. sometimes a resin website (scale models x chris?) will have resin reproductions that can give an idea how the manufacturer intended the accessory to look. aha! found a substitute metal casting of the waterbag on the Ozark Miniatures site
  4. too bad. so many successes. hard to front what people have come to expect and not be allowed to show the real person. Mork signing off ...
  5. maybe there's a lesson we could all take away from this unfortunate incident. next time someone pulls a bonehead move in traffic, react in an appropriate manner. don't brake-check or finger signal. he may be your Tony ...
  6. Hasagawa has a 23 window, cargo van, & pickup as well as beetles. highly detailed. opps; they're 1/24
  7. I also think age plays into it. there's a reason 18 year olds are drafted: they're invincible. bad situation all 'round.
  8. Auto Cutter was the acme of hobby tools in 1964!
  9. adrenaline; toxic at times
  10. kits will get you through times of no weed better than weed will get you through times of no kits
  11. like Von Dutch & Von Dutch
  12. it's a long time irk with no sign of improvement: posts referring to a scale model with actual dimensions. if a model is chopped 1/4", isn't that 6 scale inches (assuming 1/24 scale)? I think if we are spearheading the elite 10% of the model car hobby (from deleted thread on improving models) there should be specific standards regarding how a project description should be written. consistent and fairly accurate terminology could be used. for example, "motors" should not be interchangeable with "engines". although "alternators" and "generators" will require a bit more research.
  13. nailed it!
  14. I don't usually react when someone makes a boner move in traffic. i'll fade back a touch and let them on their way. my theory is that this will give them confidence to push their personal envelope. some day they'll pull a stunt on the wrong driver, maybe in a semi tractor trailer, and get their just reward. and I sometimes find myself in places where giving the other guy the wrong look could turn ugly very fast.
  15. are you watching Leave it to Beaver, too?
  16. Rockbusters in Worcester? I went to one a couple of years ago and it was great. if anyone thinks model kits are expensive and take up room, how much of both does it take to restore a Bucyrus-Erie steamshovel?
  17. but as far as kit quality goes, I'd much rather have current offerings. right down to the packaging, today's models are much superior. Revell & Tamiya instruction sheets rock. having a little plastic bag and piece of tissue keeping parts separate & scratch free is great. anyone open a mid 60s kit and find a tire self welded to the hood? Q: if two kits (same vehicle) were available with one molded in a colored plastic (red, black, yellow - pick a color) or in plain old white, would you pay _____ $ for the white kit? some of the reissued kits which were hard to paint because of their mold color are now available in white. I think that's another bonus.
  18. the instruction sheet usually has suggested paint colors for each part; Revell kits are exceptionally well details in that regard.
  19. I like the guys that make duck calls; almost makes me want to buy one. (television)
  20. that's exactly why I like to use my 40% coupon at HL; it makes time seem like 1985 again.
  21. we'll read about it in the newspaper.
  22. not sure anybody ever does. we just need a good creative outlet as we continue the search.
