  1. took me a bit to get with it, but I'm looking forward to more.
  2. maybe her future husband will know how to cook.
  3. like anything else, it's a dance. the more we do, the quicker the tempo and more complicated the steps. a process. when we're done, someone shovels six feet of gravel over us, and another begins the dance anew.
  4. I wonder if all the people who build models for fun (read: diversion on a rainy day) know that we're talking about them? i'll wager they wouldn't be enjoying themselves half as much as they think they are.
  5. there's a hot topic on another forum about changing tires .... anyone dare initiate one for "jump starting a dead battery"???
  6. maybe it's time parents took over the job of teaching their children things? the ones that know, that is.
  7. I always try to place cement on the female part of the joint. that way, any excess is pushed into the assemble rather than squished out.
  8. I was there yesterday. when I walked by the stock room, there must have been some type of religious service going on in the back room. I heard a voice cry out "oh lord !"
  9. interesting. finished became unfinished, too.
  10. surfboards. they are not flat sticks. there's about 3" of rocker, starting about a third of the way back from the nose (pointy front end). when mounted on a vehicle, the skeg (fin thing) goes towards the front of the vehicle and pointing towards Heaven.
  11. irony or pathos? I get them confused.
  12. aren't kids in Scouts at 7? Scouts have knives and learn proper handling. keeping children "safe" is the premise of the pussification of the American male. let's buy them plastic tricycles so Snowflake doesn't get a boo-boo. cheeze ......
  13. so if Wednesday is cruising night at the drive in, and cruisers drive hot cars, does that mean folks in hot cars are .... oh, brother. I'm going back to model railroading.
  14. good grief! I used to steal my father's Gillette Blue Blades out of his razor, snap them in half so I'd have two blades, and go to town on my Plasticville USA structures for the model railroad. I knew darn well where the mercurochrome and band-aids were.
  15. is this kit a recent issue? I just started one and I've never seen so much flash & ejection marks - ever! anyway, you'll be finished first, I guarantee.
  16. I don't think it bad to leave one or two finished builds around for the very reason you don't.
  17. that's one of my big ones. if a Uhlrich mini-man can't squeeze between the wheel & seat, something needs to be adjusted.
  18. just got back from the local HL. small talk with the clerk stocking the model aisle. he directed me to a shopping cart full of models HL is no longer carrying and discounted 40%. Monkeymobile, Sox & Martin, some tri-five chevys, Bev Hill Cop nova, misc diecast. nothing I needed since I only build pre WWII, but it was a nice gesture for him to point them out. interestingly, he said both non-sellers and too quick sellers are dropped from their shelves. if HL orders 25 of a specific kit and it sells out right away, the slot on the shelf lays bare until the next delivery. the delivery isn't just models, but the whole art department so it may be a month before the shelves are restocked. also, about a dozen young maidens wandering the store. I got Tamiya surface primer with a 40% coupon. worthwhile trip.
  19. no kiddin'; stuff's up to $10+ now
  20. to think.... there was a time when it wasn't the norm to dine at 60 mph!
  21. a little off topic here. had to unlock a house so the exterminator could do his quarterly service. as he was leaving, he "God-blessed" me. it was the first time we had met, and I found it a bit odd under the circumstances. but figured what the heck, if there is or if there ain't, I can use all the help I can get. now back to the thread, already in turmoil ... .
  22. your name is Francis Xavier!!! there's like saints 'n stuff with those names. have you been sent here to test our mettle? spent too many years in grade school with Sister Mary Margaret slapping your knuckles with the ruler?
  23. I don't think there's an either/ or answer. different brands & lines have strengths + weaknesses. most folks mix 'n' match.
