    Paint applied to the Holden HQ.

    Shark nose roughed in and wheels painted. The joys of being able to 3D print.

    Like always idea's get the better of me so.... Dug this kit out of the stash. And ive had the plan of building a 210 like this inspiration picture I found. After a couple hours of work, this is where im at. Have the body worked roughed in and need to finishing shaping, then il do the shark nose like the inspiration. I wont be using the wheels in the mock up, I 3D printed some other wheels that are similar to the ones on the inspiration pic.

    3D printed some burnout rims to suit the DDA kit tyres for the LJ Torana. Wheel file is from SlowysModels

    Thanks Brock, we are so lucky to have SMS hobby paints available to buy to apply on our models. Should start looking the part with side window frames blacked out and some BMF. Old mate SlowysModels ITB's on a custom one of manifold that was designed to suit the DDA 308 engine block. Thanks Bob, eye melting colour for sure, very happy how it sprayed and coverage was excellent. Admittedly I was having some issues with my photo taking recently, but tried a different setting on the phone camera and big improvement. And I always try to take photo's of my model cars at angles like you would see the 1:1's in magazines. Cheers Bob, I cant wait to see how it looks with the red colour applied.

    Stole the engine out of a DDA diecast Holden LJ Torana to see how it looks.

    Applied final coat of surfacer to the Holden HQ. And applied SMS paints Hyperchrome Dark Tone to the bumpers and headlight surrounds

    Applied the colour coat to the Holden LX A9X.

    Ha ha, my user name on LayitLow was Damaged. Too much enjoyment for the hobby to walk away from it. Always stick to my trademark colour 😉 When I seen your name pop up, I knew it was Lowridingmike from the LayitLow days. Keep doing your thing il be watching.

    Well done looks great. What colour did you use ?? looks near on the same as the factory colour candy apple red.

    Well why not prepare another body, cant do much else when the temperature is 45'c / 113'f 🫠 So dug out a Holden LJ Torana kit from the stash and will be built Burnout car style.

    Few things from Plaza Japan. This will be very helpful with all the scribing I do on my builds Can never have enough of these cotton swab's. Couple Skyline kits. And got this from ebay.

    Second and final coat of surfacer applied to A9X. Used 1500 pink for a lighter foundation for the colour coat.

    I have been a long time user of Alclad for all my chrome painting. But I had seen some excellent results with SMS paints HyperChrome, so decided to experiment and learn how to use it on the HQ wheels. Very happy with the results. Also set the stance.

    WhiIe I wait for the surfacer to dry on the A9X, I dug out another kit to start preparing 😆 I have nothing better to do. This build is going to be inspired by a local car that started my liking for the HQ Holden sedan 30 years ago.

    Got the 64 Malibu of the paint stand and like always have to do a mock up.

    So im still in a good frame of mind to do body prep and paint work, so got this Holden LX A9X Torana back on the bench.

    Thanks Brock, yes the inspiration for the LC is from a 90's era car. Thanks Steve, so glad the ideas for the Camaro are working out so far. Cant wait to do a proper paint mock up. Ha ha, no gravitational forces effecting the paint. Just good old perfect Australian summer weather. Appreciate the kind words.
