  1. I'd love to have a couple of the old MPC Mustang II, especially if one of them had the IMSA King Kobra fender flares.
  2. I've been thinking of buying one of these and using a VW for the extra parts. I figure if it's good enough for the kit car industry, it's good enough for me.
  3. For me, if it's a Porsche, I'll probably buy it. Also, if it's fairly easy to build.
  4. Several months ago I picked up a ShowCast Toy Wonders diecast 1/24th VW Doka from a hobby shop in Dallas. Never heard of that brand before, but it's really detailed for $24.99. I went there looking for Hasegawa's VW Pickup and they had sold it a couple weeks before. Anyway, I got this one on impulse, and left it in the box until inspiration hit. Well, in yesterday's What Did You See On The Road Today, Hamata1972 posted a pic of a cool weathered VW single cab shop truck and I knew what I had to do. I used a set of Fuchs wheels with the Pirelli tires from a Monogram curbside Porsche and lowered the whole truck about an eighth of an inch. This is my first attempt at weathering, I sprayed Duplicolor Red sandable primer and then lightly sanded it It probably needs a little surface rust, so I may tackle that too. This is the result, my shop truck to be. Now I have something to carry my Porsche engines in!

  5. Their allegiance to scale is still pretty loose, but a lot of the newer stuff is really nice. I'm collecting SUVs for overlanding builds and I also found an Infiniti SUV and a vintage diecast Mercedes ML350 that isn't Jurassic Park related.
  6. Such a nice thing to find again!
  7. I had to go out today so I stopped at a CVS. The last few months, the pickings have been slim, but they really came through this time. They had a 1/24 Welly Lamborghini Urus SUV and a Range Rover four door. This is the first time I've seen these on the shelf. Now I have more projects for someday.
  8. I ordered an engine from T3D as well, great stuff.
  9. Thanks for the help. Despite the issues we seem to have with it, I've been able to get some decent paint jobs from Rustoleum. The problem after that is the drying time. I'm going to have to see if I can convince my wife we need a dehydrator. LOL
  10. Those look good! I bought a kit and need to do a couple of molds to try it. Thanks for the pictures.
  11. That looks amazing. I'd love to have one of these as a shop truck, if had a cool shop!
  12. I think I may have found the color for the body of the Expedition. I'm one of those people who gets focused on something and goes overboard. Being I named the thing Night Train, I spent way too much time reading articles on camouflage. One thing that I got from that research is that black isn't the best color for avoiding attention at night. According to the experts, dark green or grey are the best colors for that. Later, I came across a Porsche Macan in a special order color called Schwarzgrau, or Black Gray. I looked all over the place for something similar and found this Rustoleum paint that matches the picture almost exactly. I only hope I can get a decent finish out of it.
  13. I've been looking for a spray color and it seems Rustoleum is the only maker of the exact shade. I guess I'll hit up the resale shops tomorrow and see if they have any.
  14. I love the van and the scooter. Didn't even know this one existed, and now I really want one! If only they'd reissue it at an affordable price.
  15. Living a couple of hours from any real hobby stores, I often depend on Walmart or Hobby Lobby for my paint. Rustoleum is the most common one available. Even in a fairly dry climate, it still stays slightly soft for a while. I'm wondering if a food dehydrator will speed the drying process on this paint?
  16. I like the stance and that engine is looking good!
  17. I have two of the original, one that I converted to a stepside, but I can't wait for these two trucks to come out! Plus, I really like AMTs trailers. I wish they'd do some mini-kits with the trailers from this truck and maybe the small utility trailer from the 1968 Dodge Coronet. Maybe they could also do one with the go-cart from the Chevy truck and the minibike from the Dodge truck, too!
  18. I'll have to get one of these for sure!
  19. That looks great! I've thought about this kit, but wondered how hard it is to build.
  20. I'll have to give it a try. My spray technique is not the best.
  21. Worked on the Cayenne in between waiting for parts to dry on the Expedition. I lowered the stance about an 1/8th inch and worked on the rooftop basket. I wanted to make one out of wire, but an hour of trying to superglue wire together led me to switch to Plastruct strips. Hoping to finish that tomorrow.
  22. My order came in and it's not Bondic brand. I guess I wasn't paying attention to what I ordered. Anyway, it comes with three different types and has a UV light for only $16. I'll have to try them all. The second pic was when Fia the Wonder Cat decided to check it out.
  23. Made some progress today. I've got the cargo bay pretty well in place, though I don't know much about how someone would do this in real life. But for 1/24th life, it's satisfyingly busy looking. I have the two fuel cells in place along with some other stuff to make the back look full. There's still some things to add, but I'm happy with it so far. I worked on the dash detailing which is not my strong suit, but it's coming along. Since I stole the wheels off the poor Welly diecast Porsche GT3, I also stole the seats and steering wheel. The seats being all black might be a bit bland, so I'm trying out some Mexican blanket upholstery. Not sure about it, but we'll see. Lastly, I have a shot of the bottom of the frame, showing the stock tank and the main fuel cell in place.
  24. I wonder if that is part of why my detailing is better? Maybe seeing closer allows the brain to catch the tremors?
  25. Not on the road, but in a parking lot in Abilene, Texas today. Some kind of Kei car, maybe a Subaru or Daihatsu?
