  1. I'm looking at starting my Monogram F-350 and wanted to fit it with a late model Powerstroke. Does anyone do one in 1/24th scale with the transmission? I've found a Cummins and might go with that as an alternative.
  2. I ordered some parts for my Cannonball contender, in fact I just received some wheels from Jay's Resin Wheels. The parts from him are great, with no cleanup needed. I know some parts will need to be deburred, but do they also need to be wiped down before painting? Does the 3D print generally have anything on it that will cause a reaction with paint like traditional resin casting mold release does?
  3. It sure would be nice to see Revell re-release all these old tools. I recently started looking for the unbuilt ones I had in storage to use for my Cannonball project and they seem to have disappeared. I had this long-bed kit, the extra-cab one, and the Lindberg version and can't find them. I did find the Harley version with the trailer and motorcycle, but I'm squeamish about cutting it up.
  4. I remember seeing one of these back in the old days. With that 302 and a little power adders, they had a power to weight ratio about the same as a 289 Cobra.
  5. Maybe it was in a magazine, or on another site, or maybe I'm just getting senile, but it seems like there used to be an article with the measurements to convert the 70s AMT F-150, the Monogram 1988 F-250, and the 70 Chevy truck beds to shortbed size. It had the amount to cut out and a diagram showing the best places to cut. Does anyone remember seeing something like this? I tried searching here, but had no luck.
  6. This kit was part of a second generation of exotic kits that Monogram released. I don't think it was part of the original line as those were curbsides. This is a really nice kit to build. I think I have one in the stash somewhere.
  7. Sadly, there's nothing to tempt me this time around. I'd like to have one of the TouchTone Terror, but I've still got four of the older Red Wagon version. As for the Mustang, I built it a long time ago and that was enough. If they reach deep into the old MPC stash and bring out some Vegas, Monzas, and early versions of the Pinto, I'll be all over that.
  8. Looks like you're doing well with a tough subject! I wish there were a chance this kit could be reissued. In lieu of that, I've thought of turning one of the old IMC GT-40s into a fiberglass kit car. Their proportions look closer for a FiberFab body than to a real GT-40 to me.
  9. That engine looks nice! Is it from Texas 3D or Iceman? I'm looking at them for a Coyote.
  10. This is one of the MSRC kits I really regret not getting back when they were easy to get.
  11. Well, I think I've found my chassis donor. I remember having a box of 90s-2000 era F-150 kits including a 2000 Lightning, but I can only find the AMT early 90s F-150 kits. I did find a nice Fast N Furious Lightning, but that probably won't help. I gave up and ordered a 1997 Flareside kit off the 'Bay, so of course I came across this one ten minutes later. I may use the kit I ordered and save the Harley kit because it is complete. This Harley kit does seem to have the same front bumper as the Lightning, so I could use that. I wonder if anyone has done a Cannonball while towing a trailer? LOL
  12. Maybe you could take all that molded-in engine out and put in a dual turbo LS3 and watch Ferraristas' heads explode! Just kidding, Ferrari would probably put you on their blacklist and you'd never be able to buy a real Ferrari.
  13. Maybe if Atlantis sees how well Round 2 is doing by cloning old molds, perhaps they'll be inspired to do the same with these old kits. I'd love to have a few of them. My dad died recently and I found a couple of pictures of him in the mid-50s when he raced Triumph and Harleys in Scramble races. It must have been a workout hustling those stripped down, but still heavy bikes over trails and sand dunes. In his 50s he took up trials racing again for a couple of years, that time with a much lighter two-stroke Suzuki DR. He said it helped keep him in shape, but eventually his knees decided to call it a day.
  14. Yeah, I don't even remember when I got it. I went through a spell where I was building a lot of Ford trucks.
  15. I think I've found my starter kit, this Monogram 1997 Ford Expedition. If I can find either the Revell Lightning kit or one of their 1997 F150 kits, I plan to put the Expedition body on that chassis and go crazy. You can see by the price tags that I've had this kit a long time. It's been up in my in-laws' barn attic for a very long time. I need to go back this weekend and see if I can find my other F150 kits. I'm thinking maybe turning it into an SUV Lightning maybe with modern Coyote power if that fits the guidelines.
  16. It will be a couple of days before I can go through my kit pile, but I have a couple of ideas and should have an entry by the end of the week. It says production engines, I may have missed it, but do they need to be from the same manufacturer? Say a 2JZ, Hellcat, or LS transplant into a different brand?
  17. Looking good!
  18. That's a lot of nice builds!
  19. Fuel capacity, plus safety. In the 1:1 world, fuel cells are needed in case of a wreck. Imagine driving 100+mph and some local decides to pull over in the left lane. You don't want 40 gallons of fuel dumping all over you and turning your car into a recreation of Christine. I figure that plus high speed capable brakes and tires would be called for.
  20. I look at Detroit Speed for my definition of a RestoMod. They offer a lot of bolt on go-fast parts including subframes.
  21. Excellent paint finishes, I'm envious!
  22. I hate to dogpile on Rustoleum, but I'm guessing the primer wasn't completely dry or reacted badly, or maybe was just a bad batch. Their quality control is not the best. For my Binford tool box redo, I bought four cans of Brilliant Blue, and two worked fine and the of the other two, one seemed to not have any propellant, and the other came out like silly string. The only differences were the batch numbers were the same on the good cans and the others were different. Anyway, most of my problems seem to come after using one of their products. For primer I switched to Duplicolor or Plastikote sandable primers a long time ago and they seem to eliminate a lot of issues. From the smell, they are a lacquer base and are compatible with every type of paint I've used and dry fast. I like them because I can sand them using ultra fine sandpapers and they give a great base. Rustoleum paints seem to work best under low humidity moderate temperatures to me, and even then they can still feel tacky.
  23. Not sure, but I think those stickers were on kits sold through Kay-Bee or Toy-R-Us for end-cap special sales. Maybe Christmas or something?
  24. Kind of like Smokey Yunick in NASCAR, always looking to obey the rule if not the letter of the law? Find the grey areas and hand out in them!
  25. An apology for the misleading title, it was three, not two, builds. Chalk it up to miscounting!
