  1. After ordering online from Lionheart Hobby in Kyle, Texas a few months ago, I got a chance to visit in person. Good people! My oldest son will be going to Texas State in the Fall and so we went to tour the campus. Being it was cold and windy, we just hit the basics. That left me time to make the 20 minute drive to Lionheart. This is my new haul from them. I bought different versions of the Subaru online from them, but couldn't pass up the chance for another. The Lincoln is a reissue of one from my youth that I tried to convert to stock with not a lot of success. I'm going to try to recreate that build with parts from a Thunderbird if I can. No plan for the Mark IV, I just had one a long time ago and messed it up.
  2. Saw a load of Teslas at a truck stop near Abilene, Texas. The truck bodies' stainless is multicolored like they weathered by a military modeler.
  3. Glad to see this coming out. I want to combine this with the 2WD parts to make a base model step bed truck.
  4. I don't know if they are Holy Grails or not, but I'm always on the lookout for the early 70s MPC Annuals. I would love to get the pre-facelift Jeep Commando, the early Pinto and Vega, the small bumper 73 Caprice and the 74-77 Camaro. Oh, and the first version of their Dodge Van and Open Road Chevy van both with the glass for window van versions. Pretty much all their output would be cool to have.
  5. Growing up in coastal Texas, I bought a 1980 Suzuki PE400. I mostly raced around on the beaches down past the 4WD areas, but one day my friend asked how fast the bike was. We got up on the access highway when it was empty and he took off in his Camaro. I whizzed past him on that bike going what he later told me was 68 mph. He said I looked cool laying flat on that huge 4-1/2 gallon desert gas tank, but to be honest, I was just trying to keep the bike under me. Those chunky knobby tires were definitely not road friendly. That's only one of the dumb things I did on that bike. I look back on that period of time between 16 and 22 and am amazed I survived.
  6. Gotta get one of these. I have a 1/24th diecast of one, but I need this kit too. I love these little cars! I was in Naples in the late 90s and there was a car club of these little things lined up to take the ferry to Capri. It was amazing how small they were, and also how many people they could fit in them. Some of them had roof racks with a week's worth of supplies on top, too.
  7. Nice! And I'd love to see that Capri reissued. It's one I missed out on the first time.
  8. I've never watched Stranger Things, but I can't wait to get one of these Blazers, and another flattop VW Van even though I already have one sitting waiting to be built. The Camaro also sounds interesting if it's a new tool or if they retooled the old Monogram based one enough to make it interesting.
  9. I'd love to have a couple of the old MPC Mustang II, especially if one of them had the IMSA King Kobra fender flares.
  10. I've been thinking of buying one of these and using a VW for the extra parts. I figure if it's good enough for the kit car industry, it's good enough for me.
  11. For me, if it's a Porsche, I'll probably buy it. Also, if it's fairly easy to build.
  12. Several months ago I picked up a ShowCast Toy Wonders diecast 1/24th VW Doka from a hobby shop in Dallas. Never heard of that brand before, but it's really detailed for $24.99. I went there looking for Hasegawa's VW Pickup and they had sold it a couple weeks before. Anyway, I got this one on impulse, and left it in the box until inspiration hit. Well, in yesterday's What Did You See On The Road Today, Hamata1972 posted a pic of a cool weathered VW single cab shop truck and I knew what I had to do. I used a set of Fuchs wheels with the Pirelli tires from a Monogram curbside Porsche and lowered the whole truck about an eighth of an inch. This is my first attempt at weathering, I sprayed Duplicolor Red sandable primer and then lightly sanded it It probably needs a little surface rust, so I may tackle that too. This is the result, my shop truck to be. Now I have something to carry my Porsche engines in!

  13. Their allegiance to scale is still pretty loose, but a lot of the newer stuff is really nice. I'm collecting SUVs for overlanding builds and I also found an Infiniti SUV and a vintage diecast Mercedes ML350 that isn't Jurassic Park related.
  14. Such a nice thing to find again!
  15. I had to go out today so I stopped at a CVS. The last few months, the pickings have been slim, but they really came through this time. They had a 1/24 Welly Lamborghini Urus SUV and a Range Rover four door. This is the first time I've seen these on the shelf. Now I have more projects for someday.
  16. I ordered an engine from T3D as well, great stuff.
  17. Thanks for the help. Despite the issues we seem to have with it, I've been able to get some decent paint jobs from Rustoleum. The problem after that is the drying time. I'm going to have to see if I can convince my wife we need a dehydrator. LOL
  18. Those look good! I bought a kit and need to do a couple of molds to try it. Thanks for the pictures.
  19. That looks amazing. I'd love to have one of these as a shop truck, if had a cool shop!
  20. I think I may have found the color for the body of the Expedition. I'm one of those people who gets focused on something and goes overboard. Being I named the thing Night Train, I spent way too much time reading articles on camouflage. One thing that I got from that research is that black isn't the best color for avoiding attention at night. According to the experts, dark green or grey are the best colors for that. Later, I came across a Porsche Macan in a special order color called Schwarzgrau, or Black Gray. I looked all over the place for something similar and found this Rustoleum paint that matches the picture almost exactly. I only hope I can get a decent finish out of it.
  21. I've been looking for a spray color and it seems Rustoleum is the only maker of the exact shade. I guess I'll hit up the resale shops tomorrow and see if they have any.
  22. I love the van and the scooter. Didn't even know this one existed, and now I really want one! If only they'd reissue it at an affordable price.
  23. Living a couple of hours from any real hobby stores, I often depend on Walmart or Hobby Lobby for my paint. Rustoleum is the most common one available. Even in a fairly dry climate, it still stays slightly soft for a while. I'm wondering if a food dehydrator will speed the drying process on this paint?
  24. I like the stance and that engine is looking good!
