I used to use Microscale Laser Decal Paper on my company's Xerox printer and loved it, but I don't have that option anymore. At Hobby Lobby they have this 'Water Transfer Decal Paper and I'm thinking of trying it. I used the Testor's Inkjet version years ago and the ink reacted like water on oil. Has anyone used this brand before?

Old bucket/racing seat possibilities?

Don't know anything about these guys, but they show some nice seats. https://action-modeler.com/product-category/interior-accessories/ -

With the upcoming Charger Police Package coming out, how about last -generation Ford Crown Vic and a new Explorer to go with them? I'd take a curbside or a full detail, either way! -
Old bucket/racing seat possibilities?

Not sure if they were in the latest release, but the MPC Pinto Wagon had these high back racing seats. I used a set in a vintage style racing Porsche model and they looked pretty nice. -

Does anyone know if the Ford Wagon going to have the stock parts? -
Maybe this will interest other VW fans. With the VW Vanagon coming available again with a Stranger Things tie-in, I dug out three Westfalia kits I have. Now I wonder if I can convert one to a Doka or better yet, if anyone knows if a conversion is available from an aftermarket supplier. I'd like to build either a single or double cab. Also, I remember seeing a updated later style front end being made a while back. Any ideas on that?

I'd forgotten about that. I built one of those kits a long time ago and painted the seats with acrylic. It worked, but the plastic attacked the polystyrene of the chassis and eventually, the seats themselves degraded into a sort of mush. I wonder if they were made of the same stuff tires are molded in? -

Over the last few years, my tastes have swung around from classic American muscle to European and JDM stuff. I still have my Ford and Mopar kits, and like them, but I grew tired of building them. Someday, that will probably change. It happens sometimes to us all. I'd love to see Revell of Germany or someone else do for European cars what Revell and AMT did for classic muscle. Can you imagine E39 BMW kits and all sorts of other 80s-90s German kits being produced? -

I know this makes me sound old, but I loved BMWs back then. Now, I look at the new ones and am just, "Bleh." It feels like the company has lost track of what made them special. -
Have you ever found kits you didn't know you had? Over the years, I bought kits and built some, but then the kids and life would take over and they'd get packed away and forgotten. I recently finished my work bench area and am gradually going through boxes of kits. Some have been stored for more than ten years. Yesterday, I opened a small box and found three Revell Honda Civics in zip-lock bags and an Acura. I don't remember buying them, but I may have gotten them at a hobby show or at a Hobby Lobby clearance or something. I'm impressed with these kits, they resemble something made by Tamiya or Fujimi. Does anyone know if they were tooled by Revell? The Civic seems to have the parts to make a stock car as well as parts for two different ground effects sets and several sets of custom wheels. My kits are missing the tires, so I may sub in something else. Last night I put aside the kit I just started, and took one of the Civics and gave it a quick spray with Racing White. The paint is more of an ivory than a pure white, is that normal? It dried surprisingly quickly, and a lot smoother than my usual, so that's good. I'm going to try to do it as a budget tuner someone might build in their garage.

I was at an HEB grocery store today and came across something new to me. It appears the only thing diecast about this one is the cab, but it is well done in 1/24th scale. I love the subject matter and may have to see what others they offer.

I'd also love to see some of these trucks in 1/24th scale! In fact a whole line of Dakar racers could be interesting. -

I've been asking kit companies for a Mercedes Sprinter van and a Ford Transit and Transit Connect for a while. They could do 2 and 4 wheel driver options, do a plain delivery version with multiple releases branded with various companies' markings, then do passenger versions by adding glass and scoring where you cut out places for them. Finally, they could do camper versions with an interior. -

It never matters how much space you start with, you always end up working in a tiny area, surrounded by parts and half started kits. LOL -

I've finished my designated work room! For years I would build whenever time allowed, usually at the table. 3 years ago my wife and I bought a condemned house in a small town about an hour north of Austin, Texas and rebuilt it. We still find things that need to be done, but it's nice, and way cheaper than anything closer to town. Real estate there has gotten way too high. For me, the new place came with a bonus 24x24 shop next door. While most of that is used for the car, and my wife's office. I now have a 12x12 breakroom/man cave. I just got some spare time, so I built a nice little nook for my hobby stuff. I even put in a sliding door to close it off when I have visitors. The models on the shelves are the ones I plan to build before I die so I'll have to live 40 years just to get them done. This afternoon, I found all my modeling tools that went missing when we moved, so to celebrate, I pulled out a kit I've been wanting to try for a long time. -
I've been setting up my long postponed model building area and finally got it mostly done. Now comes the unpacking. On another subject, my dad is in the late stages of Alzheimer's and we cleaned out and sold their house a few months ago. While going through an old box from his garage this morning, I came across some stuff of Dad's from I think the 60s. He told me he used to build model cars and airplanes back then. He had a lot of cool stuff on his shelf when I was a kid, but it got lost along the way. There were a few started projects in the box and I pulled these out to look at. If anyone has an idea what they were based on, I'd like to know. Both are 1/25th scale. The big fender one was really busted up, but I put it back together. It looks like a mix of an MGTC and a LaSalle or something. The red one may be a mix of an Austin Healey and a Cobra, but that's a guess. I don't recognize the roof. I'm hoping to find the missing hood somewhere in the pile. Edit: Is there a thread to show off your model bench?

I've recently bought a few smaller 3D pieces, but I'm looking at getting some bodies. I know it's still fairly new technology, but has anyone found any issues with larger printed pieces? Does it look like it will have any long term issues? A couple of resin bodies I bought 15 years ago show a slight twist and I was wondering if this might do the same.

I use Purple Power to remove paint and chrome on my models, but I have a 1:1 stripping issue that maybe someone has faced. My car's grill's chrome is bubbling up and I've been thinking of painting the whole thing black. Does anyone know if there is something strong enough to strip this chrome off without damaging the plastic?

oldcarfan replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Can I do a 'What did I see on a trailer beside the road today" post? This was a couple miles from home on a road I don't usually drive. It's based on a non-shortened VW pan and appears to be mostly steel. I'm guessing a home-built body? -
Resin Parts suppliers that have closed?
oldcarfan replied to Oldmopars's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I recently tried to look up Motor City Resin and got an Error 404. Anyone know if they are gone, or just not doing a website anymore? -
This and the racing version are a couple kits I'd really like to see reissued. I also wouldn't say no it Tamiya or someone decided to put out some of the newer Volvo Wagons and SUVs!

Looking fantastic. I just picked up one of this kit with the thought of making it a tuner.
